Description
しかしながら、水性エマルジョンを用いた水系のプラスチック塗料は、溶剤系と比較してプラスチック成型品表面の濡れ性および浸透性に劣り、プラスチック素材との密着性および樹脂形態が水性エマルジョンである事による耐温水密着性および耐温水白化性に問題があった。
しかしながら、この方法では光沢、耐候性が不十分であり、全てのプラスチック素材に対する密着性の面で問題がある。
そこで、(メタ)アクリル酸イソボルニルを20〜90重量部を必須成分として乳化重合させて得られる水性エマルジョンが開示されている(例えば参考文献3参照)
また、反応性乳化剤を用いて水性エマルジョンを微粒子化させる事により、プラスチック基材との密着性を向上させた水性エマルジョンが開示されている(例えば、特許文献2参照)。
さらに、耐水性およびプラスチック基材との密着性を向上させるため、重量平均分子量が2,000以上のアルコール性水酸基を含有する水溶性高分子を分散安定剤に用いた水性エマルジョンが開示されている(例えば、特許文献4参照)。しかしながら、この方法でも、全てのプラスチック素材に対する密着性の面で問題があった。
本発明の製造方法は、第1工程として、(メタ)アクリル酸1〜10重量%とシクロヘキシル(メタ)アクリレートとを10〜60重量%含有する単量体混合物(I)を、少なくとも水、界面活性剤及び重合開始剤の存在下に乳化重合して反応組成物を得る。次いで、第2工程として、前記反応組成物に、メチルメタクリレートを50重量%以上含有する単量体混合物(II)を滴下しながら乳化重合して重合体の水分散液を得る方法である。
第1工程の共重合体のTgが50℃を超える場合、又は、その量的割合が60重量%より少ない場合は、本発明の目的とする皮膜が得られなくなる。従って、耐ブロッキング性及び耐凍結融解性を向上させるために、第1工程のTgは、好ましくは10〜50℃である。
温度計、攪拌機、還流冷却器および窒素ガス導入管を備えた四つ口フラスコに、イオン交換水の1100部、「ニューコール707SF」[花王(株)製の、アニオン乳化剤の商品名;有効成分=30%]の30.0部を仕込んで、70℃にまで昇温した。
次いで、過硫酸カリウムの0.33部を15部のイオン交換水に溶解したものを投入してからメタクリル酸メチルの190部とメタクリル酸ブチル(BMA)10部とを1時間かけて滴下した。80℃に昇温してから、パーブチル−Oの0.5部を加え、同温度で、さらに2時間半の間、攪拌を続けることによって、乳化重合反応を終了させた。引き続き、室温にまで冷却して、pHが8.0〜9.0になるように12.5%の濃度のアンモニア水を加え、最後に、イオン交換水を加え、200メッシュ濾布で濾過することによって、目的とする水性エマルジョンAを得た。
温度計、攪拌機、還流冷却器および窒素ガス導入管を備えた四つ口フラスコに、イオン交換水の1100部、ニューコール707SFの40.0部を仕込んで、80℃にまで昇温した。

なお、表中の1次密着性、2次密着性におけるPC、ABS、PSは、それぞれポリカーボネート、ABS樹脂、ポリスチレンを表す。
◎:剥離、膨れ、白化は全くない状態
○:剥離、膨れ、白化は少なく、問題とならない状態
△:剥離、膨れ、白化はやや多く、ほぼ使用できない状態
×:剥離、膨れ、白化はひどく、全く使用できない状態
◎:塗膜にダンボールの付着した跡が無い状態
○:塗膜にダンボールの付着した跡が少し残っている状態
△:塗膜にダンボールの付着した跡が多く残っている状態。
×:ダンボールが付着し、塗膜が剥離した跡が残る。
◎:塗膜が成膜し、クラック発生なし
○:塗膜が成膜したが、塗膜の端にクラック発生が少しあり
△:塗膜が成膜したが、塗膜全体に微小クラック発生少しあり
×:塗膜が全く成膜せず、塗膜全体にひどくクラック発生。
Claims (6)
- 少なくとも水、界面活性剤及び重合開始剤の存在下に、単量体混合物(I)中に、それぞれ(メタ)アクリル酸を1〜10重量%とシクロヘキシル(メタ)アクリレートを10〜60重量%とを含有する、ガラス転移温度10〜50℃を与える単量体混合物(I)を乳化重合して反応組成物を得る第1工程と、前記第1工程で得られた反応組成物に、メチルメタアクリレートを50重量%以上含有する、ガラス転移温度70〜130℃を与える単量体混合物(II)を滴下して乳化重合してエマルジョンを得る第2工程からなる塗料用水性重合体製造方法であって、前記単量体混合物(I)と前記単量体混合物(II)との重量比〔(I)/(II)〕(固形分比)が60〜90/10〜40であることを特徴とする塗料用水性重合体の製造方法。
- 第1工程の単量体混合物の重合率が少なくとも90重量%に達して後、第2工程の単量体混合物の乳化分散液を滴下する請求項1に記載の塗料用水性重合体製造方法。
- (メタ)アクリル酸を1〜10重量%とシクロヘキシル(メタ)アクリレートを10〜60重量%とを必須成分とする単量体混合物(I)60〜90重量部を乳化重合して得られる反応組成物に、メチルメチアクリレートを50重量%以上含有する単量体混合物(II)10〜40重量部を滴下して乳化重合して得られる分散液を含有するプラスチック塗料用樹脂組成物であって、前記単量体混合物(I)の共重合体のガラス転移温度が10〜50℃であり、且つ、単量体混合物(II)の共重合体のガラス転移温度が70〜130℃であることを特徴とするプラスチック塗料用樹脂組成物。
- 単量体混合物(I)中に、更に、スチレンを10〜30重量%含有する請求項3記載のプラスチック塗料用樹脂組成物。
- 請求項1又は2に記載の塗料用水性重合体製造方法で得られたエマルジョンを含有するプラスチック塗料。
- 請求項3又は4に記載のプラスチック塗料用樹脂組成物を含有するプラスチック塗料。
