Description
このような液晶表示装置は、自体発光型表示装置ではないため、液晶パネルの背面にランプを備える。ランプは、インバータにより、電源の供給を受けて、光を提供するが、光の輝度を調節するためにパルス幅変調信号を用いる。
前記パルス幅変調信号は、所定の範囲内で任意に決定されるランダム周波数であり、
前記ランダム周波数範囲は、前記パルス幅変調信号に対応するスイッチング速度に前記光源が正常に応答しなくなり始める時の周波数を最大周波数とし、前記光源が発散する前記光が到達する液晶パネルにフリッカ(flickering)が生じ始める時の周波数を最小周波数とすることが好ましい。
前記光源を流れる電流または前記光源に印加される電圧のフィードバックを受け、前記調光信号の電圧レベルを調節するフィードバックユニットをさらに含むことが好ましい。
外部から提供されたデジタル形態の光データ信号の入力を受け、前記光データ信号に対応するアナログ形態の前記調光信号を出力するデジタルアナログコンバータをさらに含むことが好ましい。

Claims (6)
- 調光信号の入力を受け、前記調光信号に対応するデューティ比であり、周期が一定ではないパルス幅変調信号を出力するパルス幅変調信号出力部と、
前記パルス幅変調信号に基づいて光を発散する光源、を有し、
前記パルス幅変調信号出力部は、
周期が一定ではないランダムランダム周波数信号を出力するランダム周波数信号生成部と、前記ランダム周波数信号と前記調光信号の電圧レベルとを比較する比較器と、を含み、
前記周期が一定ではないランダム周波数信号と前記調光信号の電圧レベルを比較して前記パルス幅変調信号を出力し、
前記ランダム周波数信号生成部は、
制御電圧の電圧レベルに応じて前記ランダム周波数信号を出力する電圧制御発振器(volatge controlled oscillator)を含み、
ランダムデータを保存するメモリと、
クロック信号の入力を受けてカウントし、アドレス信号を出力するカウンタと、
前記アドレス信号に応答して前記メモリから前記ランダムデータを読出し、前記ランダムデータに対応するアナログ形態の前記制御電圧を出力するデジタルアナログコンバータと、をさらに含むことを特徴とするバックライトアッセンブリ。 - 前記パルス幅変調信号出力部は、前記調光信号の電圧レベルに対応する前記デューティ比である前記パルス幅変調信号を出力することを特徴とする請求項1に記載のバックライトアッセンブリ。
- 前記パルス幅変調信号は、所定の範囲内で任意に決定されるランダム周波数であり、
前記ランダム周波数範囲は、前記パルス幅変調信号に対応するスイッチング速度に前記光源が正常に応答しなくなり始める時の周波数を最大周波数とし、前記光源が発散する前記光が到達する液晶パネルにフリッカ(flickering)が生じ始める時の周波数を最小周波数とすることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のバックライトアッセンブリ。 - 前記ランダム周波数は、中心周波数を含み、前記最大および最小周波数は、前記中心周波数を基準として±10%幅の周波数であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載のバックライトアッセンブリ。
- 前記光源を流れる電流または前記光源に印加される電圧のフィードバックを受け、前記調光信号の電圧レベルを調節するフィードバックユニットをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のバックライトアッセンブリ。
- 外部から提供されたデジタル形態の光データ信号の入力を受け、前記光データ信号に対応するアナログ形態の前記調光信号を出力するデジタルアナログコンバータをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載のバックライトアッセンブリ。
