Description
本出願は、2007年9月13日に出願された名称「多言語環境を有する装置のための入力方法」の米国暫定特許出願シリアル番号60/972,185に対する優先権を主張し、その内容は引用により本明細書に組み込まれる。
図1は、テキスト入力を受け取るための例示的なポータブルデバイス100を示す。ポータブルデバイス100は、電話、メディアプレーヤ、電子メールデバイス、又はテキスト入力を受け取ることができる他のいずれかのポータブルデバイスとすることができる。
デバイス100は、仮想キーボード102、編集領域106、及び入力領域108を含む。これらの領域の各々は、タッチ感知式ディスプレイ104の一部とすることができる。
一部の実施において、タッチ感知式ディスプレイ104は、マルチタッチ入力又は指ジェスチャを受け取るためのマルチタッチ感知式ディスプレイとすることができる。マルチタッチ感知式ディスプレイ104は、例えば、各タッチポイントの圧力、程度、及び/又は位置に関連するデータ処理を含む、複数の同時タッチポイントを処理することができる。
このような処理は、複数の指、コーディング、及び他の対話を用いた、ジェスチャ及び対話を可能にする。マルチタッチ感知式ディスプレイ技術の幾つかの実施例は、米国特許第6,323,846号、6,570,557号、6,677,932号、及び米国特許公開番号2002/0015024A1で記載されており、その各々は引用により全体が本明細書に組み込まれる。
図示の実施例では、ユーザは、日本語環境において「touky」を置換するために候補ワード110を選択している。候補ワード110の選択は、ユーザが1つ又はそれ以上の指で候補ワード110をタッチすることによって行われる。ユーザがタッチを放すと、選択された候補ワード110が編集領域106内の文書に挿入される。一部の実施において、ユーザが候補ワード110にタッチすると、ユーザの指が候補ワード110を遮るのを避けるよう、候補ワード110はタッチ感知式ディスプレイ104上の別の位置(例えばオフセット位置)に表示される。ユーザは、候補ワードの上で指をスワイプすることによって候補リストをスクロールすることができる。指が各候補ワード112を横切ると、候補ワード112は異なる位置に表示される。例えば、ユーザは、ユーザが候補ワード110に到達するまで入力領域108で候補ワード112を横断してユーザの人差し指を動かすことができる。ユーザがタッチを放すと、編集中の文書に候補ワード110が挿入される。
図示の実施例では、ユーザは、バックスペース又はデリートキー116をタッチし、次に指をキー116から仮想キーボード102の反対側の端部に向けてスライドさせることによって、テキスト入力内の文字を消去することができる。ユーザが指をスライドさせると、タッチ感知式ディスプレイ104にわたって指が横切った距離に比例する幾つかの文字が消去される。入力領域108内に文字(例えば、文書に現在追加されている文字)が存在する場合、これらの文字を最初に消去することができる。入力領域108内の文字がなくなると、編集領域106内の文字(例えば、文書内に以前入力されたワードの文字)を消去することができる。
図4は、図1〜3を参照して説明した種々の操作を実施するための例示的システムアーキテクチャ400のブロック図である。例えば、アーキテクチャ400は、図1を参照して説明したポータブルデバイス100に含めることができる。アーキテクチャ400は、プロセッサ410、メモリ420、記憶装置430、及び入力/出力装置440を含む。
構成要素410、420、430、及び440の各々は、システムバス450を用いて相互接続される。プロセッサ410は、アーキテクチャ400内で実行するための命令を処理することができる。一部の実施では、プロセッサ410は、単一スレッドプロセッサである。他の実施では、プロセッサ410は、マルチスレッドプロセッサである。プロセッサ410は、メモリ420内又は記憶装置430上に格納された命令を処理して、入力/出力装置440上のユーザインターフェースにグラフィカル情報を表示することができる。
他の実施では、入力/出力装置440は、グラフィカルユーザインターフェースを表示するためのディスプレイユニットを含む。
日本語環境では、仮想キーボードキーに連動するユーザインターフェース要素(例えばポップアップメニュー又はヘッドアップディスプレイ)の活用を利用して、曖昧でない文字を選択することができる。あらゆる子音に対して1つのキーと複数の母音に対して1つのキーとが存在することができる。一実施形態では、ユーザが仮想キーボードのキーにタッチしてスライドした場合、ポップアップメニューが開いて、ユーザにその子音(又は子音のない)と適切な母音を備えた音節を選択させる。「k」(ka)キーのドラッグは、ユーザに「ka」「ki」「ku」「ke」又は「ko」を選択させる。母音キーのドラッグがユーザに「a」「i」「u」「e」又は「o」などを選択させる。
指ジェスチャを検出すると、選択された文字オプションを編集中の文書に挿入することができる(510)。

Claims (9)
- 多言語環境内の文字を消去する方法であって、
テキスト入力を編集するためのユーザインターフェースをタッチ感知式ディスプレイ上に生成するステップであって、前記ユーザインターフェースは、編集領域と、入力領域と、前記編集領域及び前記入力領域の外側に配置された仮想キーボードとを備え、前記仮想キーボードは、前記編集領域又は前記入力領域に文字を入力するためのキーを有する、ステップと、
前記仮想キーボードの領域内のユーザジェスチャを検知するステップであって、前記ユーザジェスチャは前記仮想キーボード上のキーから始まり、前記ユーザジェスチャは、前記入力領域又は前記編集領域に表示されたテキスト入力の1つ又は複数の文字が消去されるように操作可能である、ステップと、
前記タッチ感知式ディスプレイ上を前記ユーザジェスチャが横切る距離に比例した数の文字を消去するステップと、を有する方法。 - 前記入力領域に表示された前記文字が最初に消去され、続いて前記編集領域内の文字が消去される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記消去される文字の数は、前記仮想キーボードの仮想境界によって境界付けされる前記ユーザジェスチャが横切る距離に比例する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 命令が記録されたコンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体であって、
プロセッサによって前記命令が実行されたときに、
テキスト入力を編集するためのユーザインターフェースをタッチ感知式ディスプレイ上に生成するステップであって、前記ユーザインターフェースは、編集領域と、入力領域と、前記編集領域及び前記入力領域の外側に配置された仮想キーボードとを備え、前記仮想キーボードは、前記編集領域又は前記入力領域に文字を入力するためのキーを有する、ステップと、
前記仮想キーボードの領域内のユーザジェスチャを検知するステップであって、前記ユーザジェスチャは前記仮想キーボード上のキーから始まり、前記ユーザジェスチャは、前記入力領域又は前記編集領域に表示されたテキスト入力の1つ又は複数の文字が消去されるように操作可能である、ステップと、
前記タッチ感知式ディスプレイ上を前記ユーザジェスチャが横切る距離に比例した数の文字を消去するステップと、を含む操作を前記プロセッサが実施する、コンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体。 - 前記入力領域に表示された前記文字が最初に消去され、続いて前記編集領域内の文字が消去される、請求項4に記載のコンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体。
- 前記消去される文字の数は、前記仮想キーボードの仮想境界によって境界付けされる前記ユーザジェスチャが横切る距離に比例する、請求項4に記載のコンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体。

テキスト入力を編集するためのユーザインターフェースをタッチ感知式ディスプレイ上に生成するステップであって、前記ユーザインターフェースは、編集領域と、入力領域と、前記編集領域及び前記入力領域の外側に配置された仮想キーボードとを備え、前記仮想キーボードは、前記編集領域又は前記入力領域に文字を入力するためのキーを有する、ステップと、
前記仮想キーボードの領域内のユーザジェスチャを検知するステップであって、前記ユーザジェスチャは前記仮想キーボード上のキーから始まり、前記ユーザジェスチャは、前記入力領域又は前記編集領域に表示されたテキスト入力の1つ又は複数の文字が消去されるように操作可能である、ステップと、
前記タッチ感知式ディスプレイ上を前記ユーザジェスチャが横切る距離に比例した数の文字を消去するステップと、を含む操作を前記プロセッサが実施するように構成されたシステム。 - 前記入力領域に表示された前記文字が最初に消去され、続いて前記編集領域内の文字が消去される、請求項7に記載のシステム。
