発光素子1の作製例を、図11(A)を用いながら説明する。まず、陽極2001として110nmの膜厚でインジウム錫珪素酸化物(ITSO)が成膜されたガラス基板2000を用意した。ITSO表面は、2mm角の大きさで表面が露出するよう周辺をポリイミド膜で覆い、電極面積は2mm×2mmとした。この基板上に発光素子を形成するための前処理として、基板表面を水で洗浄し、200℃で1時間焼成した後、UVオゾン処理を370秒行った。その後、10−4Pa程度まで内部が減圧された真空蒸着装置に基板を導入し、真空蒸着装置内の加熱室で、170℃で30分間の真空焼成を行った。その後、基板を30分程度、放冷した。
第1の発光層2011における陽極側に位置する層2021の膜厚を20nmとした以外は、発光素子1と同様に成膜することで、本発明の発光素子2を作製した。
比較のため、第1の発光層2011における陽極側に位置する層2021を設けない比較発光素子3を作製した。その素子構造を図11(B)に示す。図11(B)に示す通り、比較発光素子3における第1の発光層2011は、発光素子1における陰極側に位置する層2022のみで構成されている。
以上により得られた本発明の発光素子1、本発明の発光素子2、比較発光素子3を、窒素雰囲気のグローブボックス内において、発光素子が大気に曝されないように封止する作業を行った後、これらの発光素子の動作特性について測定を行った。なお、測定は室温(25℃に保たれた雰囲気)で行った。

9−(4−ブロモフェニル)−10−フェニルアントラセン7.8g(12mmol)、PCBA4.8g(12mmol)、ナトリウム tert−ブトキシド5.2g(52mmol)を300mL三口フラスコへ入れ、フラスコ内を窒素置換した。この混合物へ、トルエン60mL、トリ(tert−ブチル)ホスフィン(10wt%ヘキサン溶液)0.30mLを加えた。この混合物を、減圧下で攪拌しながら脱気し、脱気後、ビス(ジベンジリデンアセトン)パラジウム(0)136mg(0.24mmol)を加えた。この混合物を、100℃で3時間攪拌した。攪拌後、この混合物に約50mLのトルエンを加え、セライト(和光純薬工業株式会社、カタログ番号:531−16855)、アルミナ、フロリジール(和光純薬工業株式会社、カタログ番号:540−00135)を通して吸引ろ過した。得られたろ液を濃縮し、黄色固体を得た。この固体をトルエン/ヘキサンにて再結晶し、目的物のPCBAPAの淡黄色固体6.6g収率75%で得た。得られた淡黄色粉末状固体3.0gをトレインサブリメーション法により昇華精製した。昇華精製条件は、圧力8.7Pa、アルゴンガスを流量3.0mL/minでながしながら、350℃でPCBAPAを加熱した。昇華精製後、PCBAPAの淡黄色固体を2.7g回収率90%で得た。

Claims (11)
- 陽極と陰極との間に、第1の発光層と、前記第1の発光層の陽極側に接して設けられた第2の発光層とを有し、
前記第1の発光層は、陽極側に位置する層と、陰極側に位置する層と、からなり、
前記陽極側に位置する層は、第1の有機化合物と第1の発光物質とを含み、
前記陰極側に位置する層は、第2の有機化合物と前記第1の発光物質と同じ構造の発光物質とを含み、
前記第2の発光層は、第3の有機化合物と第2の発光物質とを含み、
前記第1の有機化合物は正孔輸送性を有し、
前記第2の有機化合物は電子輸送性を有し、
前記第3の有機化合物は正孔輸送性を有し、
前記第1の有機化合物および前記第2の有機化合物が、いずれも3環以上6環以下の縮合多環芳香族化合物であり、
前記第1の発光物質からの発光と前記第2の発光物質からの発光が得られる発光素子。 - 請求項1において、
前記陽極側に位置する層における前記第1の有機化合物の含有量は50重量%以上99.9重量%以下であり、
前記陰極側に位置する層における前記第2の有機化合物の含有量は50重量%以上99.9重量%以下であり、
前記第2の発光層における前記第3の有機化合物の含有量は50重量%以上99.9重量%以下であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1または請求項2において、
前記第1の有機化合物および前記第2の有機化合物が、いずれもアントラセン誘導体であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の有機化合物と前記第3の有機化合物が同一の物質であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光物質の発光ピーク波長が、前記第2の発光物質の発光ピーク波長よりも短波長であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光物質の発光色と、前記第2の発光物質の発光色が、互いに補色の関係にあることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光物質の発光色は青色であり、前記第2の発光物質の発光色が黄色であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光物質の発光ピーク波長は400nm以上480nm未満の範囲にあり、
前記第2の発光物質の発光ピーク波長は540nm以上600nm未満の範囲にあることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光物質の発光色は青緑色であり、前記第2の発光物質の発光色が赤色であることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一項において、
前記第1の発光物質の発光ピーク波長は480nm以上520nm未満の範囲にあり、
前記第2の発光物質の発光ピーク波長は600nm以上700nm未満の範囲にあることを特徴とする発光素子。 - 請求項1乃至請求項10のいずれか一項に記載の発光素子を有する発光装置。
