Description

穏やかな混合を伴って、80gのポリマーエマルジョンRhoplex(商標)EC−2540(Tg−10℃)に対して界面活性剤が加えられた。この液体混合物は、Hobart ベーカリーミキサの5L混合ボール内に置かれ、その後、針金製泡立て器アタッチメントを用いて高速(#3)で5分間にわたって泡立てられた。結果として得られる発泡体の密度は、135mLの紙カップ内へ泡を掬い取って、高さ基準位置で擦り切り、その後、重さを量ることによって測定された。
実施例1−8と同じ方法で他のラテックスから発泡体が生成された。これらの特徴が表2で報告されている。
実施例1−8の場合と同様、50gのRhoplex(商標)EC2540、10gの水、40gのStanfax−234、および、10gのStanfax−320の混合物が発泡体へと泡立てられた。
前述したように、コーティング(b)のために使用される同じ基本的なコーティング組成物から発泡組成物(a)を作ることができる。この手法の利点は、組成物(b)に対して好適な材料を単に加えるだけで発泡体(a)を形成できるという点である。この方法では、その後、更なる少量の成分を付加して発泡体(a)を形成するために使用することもできるコーティング(b)を形成できる。
15a.柔軟性:実施例6からの発泡体および比較DAP発泡体が、剥離紙上のガラス繊維メッシュ上に200×200mmシート状に6mm厚に成型された。少なくとも1日乾燥した後、メッシュを伴う発泡体ストリップが、様々な直径、すなわち、100,50,25,6mmの円筒状金属マンドレルの周囲に巻き付けられた。実施例6の発泡体は任意のマンドレル上でひびが入らなかった。DAP発泡体は全てのマンドレル上でひびが入った。
実施例15bの場合と同様、発泡体のシートが調製された。発泡体が2日間にわたって乾燥された後、実施例16のコーティングが発泡体上にブラシによって2コートで塗布され、コート間で2時間の乾燥が行なわれ、その後、一晩中乾燥されて、約15ドライミル(0.38mm)の最終的なコーティング厚さに至った。一晩中乾燥させた後、コーティングされた発泡体は、908g(2lb)重量の12mm(0.5インチ)の球状チップの落下ダーツ衝撃テスタに付された。ダーツは、コーティングが目に見えて引き裂かれるまで、次第に高い高さから、硬質な平坦ボード上に載置するコーティングされた発泡体の新しい領域上に落とされる。実施例6のコーティングされた発泡体は、430mm(17インチ)まで合格して、480mm(19インチ)で不合格だった。比較例DAPは最も低い高さ12mm(0.5インチ)で不合格だった。
2つの150×75mmの長方形の配向性ストランドボード(「OSB」)が、150mmの辺が平行であるが6mm離れるようにボードにクランプされ、それにより、隣接する長方形同士の間に、開放する6mm幅の隙間が形成された。そのような隙間は、建設中の住居用建造物および商業用建造物の外部被覆材料のシート間で見出される隙間をシミュレートする。
7.5cm直径のPVCパイプの80cm長さ部分の1つの開放端部が、コーティングされた発泡接合部が当該パイプ端部の直径を横切るように、実施例18の検査接合部上に配置された。パイプの開放端部は、シリコン封止剤を用いて検査接合部に対してシールされた。シリコンが硬化された後、パイプに水が約2.5cmの深さまで満たされ、接合部の底部の漏れが定期的にチェックされた。24時間後、接合部の真下で水は全く検出できなかった。
95gのRhoplex(商標)EC−2540、4gのStanfax−320および1gのStanfax−234の混合物が、ボトル閉塞体(イリノイ州のカリーのSeaquist Perfect Dispensingから全て入手できるBody Orifice #062,Stem Orifice #018,Spout #S20L7)を用いて閉じられたアルミカン(ネバダ州のリーノーのMcKernan Packaging Clearinghouseから200mLが入手できる)内に置かれた。その後、2.0gのプロパンおよび4.0gのn−ブタンがカンに充填された。カンが30秒間にわたって振られて反転されるとともに、トリガが押し下げられ、前記実施例#1の場合と同様の特性の発泡体が施行された。任意に、発泡体の流れをOSBボード間の接合部内および当該接合部上へ方向付けることができるように、施工前に柔軟なホースがカンの注ぎ口に取り付けられた。更なる選択肢として、平坦な漏斗(開放する42mm幅×4mm厚)が柔軟なホースの端部に取り付けられ、それにより、発泡体の帯を急速な単一のパスで隙間上に適用することができた。
実施例20の場合と同様のエアゾールカンが以下の配合で満たされ、その後、それらの保管安定性を監視するために、3ヶ月にわたってエアゾールカンが棚上に置かれたままにされた。
Claims (5)
- 構造フレーム上の木材、セメント、または石膏外部被覆材料からなる隣接するシートを当該シート間に隙間を伴って使用する建設中の建造物上に耐候性バリアを形成する方法であって、
(a)発泡水性エマルジョンポリマー組成物を前記隙間に適用すること、ここで、前記組成物が、25℃未満のガラス転移温度(Tg)を有する水性エマルジョンポリマー、界面活性剤、水、および、発泡剤を含み、前記発泡組成物の湿った適用したばかりの12mm厚および50mm幅のビードは、乾燥されると、0.035MPa以下の圧力下で3mm以下の厚さまで圧縮される能力を有する;及び、
(b)前記被覆材料および発泡組成物上に水性ポリマーコーティング組成物を適用すること、ここで、前記ポリマーコーティングは、乾燥されると、0.7g/mlよりも大きい密度を有する;
を含む方法。 - コーティングされた被覆材料上に装飾クラッディングを設置することを更に含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 発泡組成物が、乾燥されると、0.0035MPa以下の圧力下で3mm以下の厚さまで圧縮される能力を有する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 発泡組成物が、外部から圧力が加えられない状態で3mm以下まで自己圧縮する能力を有する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記組成物(a)または(b)のうちの少なくとも一方が多官能性アミンまたはポリエチレンイミンを更に含む請求項1に記載の方法。
