Description
図1に、本発明の水素発生ユニットの水素発生素子で使用するシート状の多孔質担体1を模式的に示す。多孔質担体1の少なくとも片面と連通孔内壁に、例えば蒸着により、アルミニウムまたはアルミニウム合金の薄膜層(図示せず)を形成して、水素発生素子として使用する。
2枚のセパレータ(空隙率75%、密度0.30g/cm3、幅19mm、厚さ50μm)の担体の両面に、アルミニウムを厚さ約3μmで蒸着した。蒸着後、担体を長さ110cmに切り、巻回して、直径が約1cmの円筒形水素発生素子を形成した。内側をラミネート加工したアルミニウム製円筒形ケース(内径12.5mm、長さ30mm)の中に、水素発生素子とクエン酸三ナトリウム・二水和物0.6gを入れ、封口ゴム(ブチルゴム)で封止後、底部から22mmの位置でケースを加締めて水素発生ユニットを作製した。封口ゴムの孔より容器内に純水2gを入れ、孔から排出される水素をメスシリンダー中で水上置換することにより発生した水素量を測定した。結果を表1に示す。
アルミニウム箔(プレーン箔)(長さ180mm、幅16mm、厚さ100μm)を2枚用意し、実施例1で担体として使用したのと同じセパレータをそれらの間に介在させ巻回して形成した円筒形水素発生素子を使用して、実施例1と同様に水素発生ユニットを作製し、発生水素量を測定した。結果を表1に示す。
表2に示した空隙率の担体を用いて、実施例1と同様に水素発生ユニットを作製し、発生水素量を測定した。測定結果を表2に示す。

- 容器と、前記容器に収容される水素発生素子とを有し、前記水素発生素子は、アルミニウム又はアルミニウム合金の薄膜層が形成された多孔質の担体からなることを特徴とする水素発生ユニット。
- 前記多孔質の担体がシート状またはプレート状である、請求項1記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記シート状またはプレート状の多孔質の担体が巻回または積層されている、請求項2記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記多孔質の担体の基材が天然セルロース繊維または合成繊維である、請求項2または3記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記多孔質の担体が多孔質シート、織物、編み物、または1本以上の線状材料をひとかたまりにしたものである、請求項4記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記多孔質シートが紙である、請求項5記載の水素発生ユニット。

- 前記アルミニウムまたはアルミニウム合金の薄膜層の厚さが0.1〜10μmの範囲内である、請求項1〜9のいずれか一つに記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記薄膜層が気相法により形成されている、請求項10記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記容器内に、アルミニウムと水との反応を促進させる水和反応促進物質が存在する、請求項1〜11のいずれか一つに記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記水和反応促進物質が、無機酸とその塩、有機酸とその塩、およびアミンからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種の化合物である、請求項12記載の水素発生ユニット。
- 前記無機酸が、硫酸、塩酸、燐酸、スルホン酸またはその誘導体から選択され、前記有機酸が、蟻酸、安息香酸、シュウ酸、アジピン酸、フタル酸又はこれらの誘導体、クエン酸、リンゴ酸、酒石酸又はその誘導体から選択され、前記無機酸および有機酸の塩が、アンモニウム塩、ナトリウム塩、カリウム塩、カルシウム塩から選択され、前記アミンが、モノエタノールアミン、ジエタノールアミン、トリエタノールアミンから選択される、請求項13に記載の水素発生ユニット。
