Description
本発明人らは、使用者の香りの知覚の減少は、よく報告されている慣れの現象だけに起因するのではなく、使用中に香り物質放出装置内で起こる物理的、機械的、及び/又は化学的変化にも起因するということを発見した。特に、使用中に、芯からの放出は、少なくとも部分的には芯の目詰まりが原因で、時間の関数として減衰することが見出された。芯の目詰まりは、揮発(又は蒸発)を減少させ、このため香料構成成分の知覚を減少させる。この目詰まりの現象は、例えば、香料組成物中の化学反応、及び目詰まりを起こさない香料構成成分の漸次の、しかし選択的な蒸発によって引き起こされ得る。本発明はこれらの問題に対処する。
本発明は、香り組成物、殺虫剤、悪臭抑制組成物などを含有する揮発性組成物を放出させるための方法及び装置に関する。幾つかの実施形態では、本発明は1つ以上の揮発性組成物を放出させるための方法に関する。幾つかの実施形態では、本発明は2つ以上の揮発性組成物を放出させるための方法及び装置に関する。本明細書に記載される方法及び装置の多数の実施形態が存在し、それらのすべては非限定的な実施例であることが意図されている。

香り物質への長期の曝露は慣れ効果を生じ、それにより人は同じ濃度の中にいても特定の香料の存在を認識しにくくなることは、当該技術分野で公知である。市販の香り物質放出装置の使用ではこの現象が起きる。
観察された蒸発速度の減少は、より揮発性の高い化合物の選択的蒸発及び芯の目詰まりを包含する、多くの因子により引き起こされた。蒸発速度の減少の背後にある機構的な理由を決定するために、さらなる研究が実施された。
蒸発速度の減少が芯の目詰まりに起因していたことが発見された時点で、問題を解決するための段階が取られた。驚くべきことに、芯による蒸発装置に休止期間を許容する(一般には芯に加えられた熱を弱めることによる)ことにより、芯の内部で揮発性物質の逆流が起こり、それによってより揮発性の低い構成成分が濃度勾配により流動して平衡状態に戻ることが可能となることが発見された。休止時間が終わってより揮発性の低い構成成分の逆流が起こった時点で、限定された期間の間システムにエネルギーを再適用し、その期間に、組成物の揮発が再度起こる。このサイクルは何度でも繰り返すことができる。
図18から分かるように、芯装置をオンオフ循環させることで、装置からの蒸発速度において顕著な増加が生じる。図15の写真はオン/オフ循環が芯の目詰まりを著しく低減させるという証拠を与えている。
芯の目詰まりが蒸発を減少させる原因であり、目詰まりを低減させることによって蒸発を増大させることができたということが発見された時点で、蒸発を改善するための方法を特定するためにさらなる段階が取られた。この実施例は、細孔寸法を増大させることにより蒸発が増大されることを示している。
芯の他の特徴が蒸発特性を改善し得るかを判定するために、追加の研究が行われた。この実施例は芯の長さを減少させることによってどのように蒸発を改善できるかを示している。
二芯型システムに対する最も望ましい香り物質放出を達成するサイクル時間を決定するために、追加の研究を行った。

Claims (6)
- 少なくとも1つの貯蔵槽を含み、該少なくとも1つの貯蔵槽は、芯と流体連通する香料組成物とを含有しており、前記少なくとも1つの香料組成物の構成成分の95重量%より多くが、1700未満のガスクロマトグラフィーのコバッツ指数(非極性シリコーン固定相として5%フェニル−メチルポリシロキサンで決定した場合)を有する香りモジュールと、
少なくとも1つの香料モジュールを受け入れるようになっている加熱芯型香料組成物分配装置を含む加熱芯型香料組成物分配システムと
