Description
杉丸太材試料の乾燥、脱気およびスチレンにアゾビスイソブチロニトリル(AIBN)(0.2モル/l)を溶かした溶液による含浸を実行した、プロセス原理を図1に示す。図において、円筒型反応炉1は、木材、多孔質体などを投入しスチレン溶液を含浸させると共に、スチレン樹脂の重合を行なう容器であり、反応炉1の周縁には温度150°〜170°まで加熱可能な電熱装置2が備えられ、反応炉1内を加熱する。また、反応炉1の下方にはスチレン溶液を注入する開口部を有し、含浸用混合物の調整容器3とパイプによって連結されている。
調整容器3の内部には混合物攪拌用の攪拌機4が備えられ、樹脂モノマー、開始材、顔料、などの軽量フィーダー(図示せず)から投入された混合物を攪拌する。そして反応炉1の上方には各種のバルブを介してトラップコンデンサー・セパレータ5が設けられ、真空ポンプ6の吸引によって不用な水蒸気や未重合モノマーを凝集させる。

Claims (4)
- 丸太材その他の多孔質材料を乾燥および脱気する工程と、ビニルモノマー又はスチレンモノマーを含む溶液による前記丸太材その他の多孔質材料への含浸工程と、該含浸されたビニルモノマー又はスチレンモノマーの重合工程及び真空によるビニルモノマー又はスチレンモノマーの除去工程とからなる丸太材その他の多孔質材料の改質方法であって、前記丸太材その他の多孔質材料の端面部分のみを加熱する熱パルスにより、前記丸太材その他の多孔質材料に含浸されたビニルモノマー又はスチレンモノマーの重合が開始され、前記重合は、丸太材その他の多孔質材料の長手方向に沿って伝播される重合フロントにより前記ビニルモノマー又はスチレンモノマーのポリマーへの変換の主要部分(95〜97質量%)を実現することを特徴とする丸太材その他の多孔質材料の改質方法。
- 前記その他の多孔質材料として乾燥・脱気コンクリート、ゼオライト、膨張グラファイト、カートン(ボール紙)のうち少なくとも1種類を用いることを特徴とする請求項1記載の丸太材その他の多孔質材料の改質方法。
- 含浸された丸太材その他の多孔質材料中のビニルモノマー又はスチレンモノマー含有量が乾燥・脱気された多孔質丸太材その他の多孔質材料換算で40〜100重量%となることを特徴とする請求項1記載の丸太材その他の多孔質材料の改質方法。
- 前記熱パルスは、大容量電熱器、高周波電流あるいはレーザーによる丸太材の端面あるいはその他の多孔質材料の端面部分への強力な短時間パルスであることを特徴とする請求項1記載の丸太材その他の多孔質材料の改質方法。
