Description
欧州特許出願公開(EP-A1)第1174445号明細書には、少なくとも2つの直列接続された加圧反応器中で及び引き続き少なくとも1つの無加圧反応器中での連続的な乳化重合が記載されており、前記乳化重合はレドックス系により開始され、かつその際に還元成分は少なくとも部分的に第一の加圧反応器中に供給される。欧州特許出願公開(EP-A2)第1067147号明細書には、連続的に乳化重合する方法が記載され、その際に保護コロイドとして低分子量ポリビニルアルコールが使用される。欧州特許出願公開(EP-A1)第1384502号明細書からは、ケーシングと、その中に配置された熱伝達媒体が装入される管とを含むスタティックミキサー熱交換器が知られており、その際に前記管は、基質がケーシングを経て導通する際に静的混合を生じさせるブリッジで互いに結合されている。米国特許出願公開(US-A1)第2001/0012235号明細書には、包囲するケーシングとミキサーインサートとからなるスタティックミキサーが記載されており、その際にミキサーインサートは、多数の互いに入り組んだ格子からなる。欧州特許出願公開(EP-A1)第0755945号明細書には、管形反応器と、重合生成物を部分的に返送するための循環路とを含む装置が記載されている。循環路中に、2つのミキサー−熱交換器が配置されており;出口側の1つは、重合生成物を加熱し、かつ入口側の1つは、重合生成物を再び冷却する。国際公開(WO-A1)第00/71319号には、反応器から生成物が取り出され、かつ押出機に供給される装置が記載されており、その際に反応器と押出機との間の区間で、生成物は一連の直列接続された熱交換器中で冷却される。
酢酸ビニルと、エチレン1〜40質量と、カルボン酸基中に炭素原子1〜15個を有するビニルエステル、例えばプロピオン酸ビニル、ビニルラウラート、炭素原子9〜11個を有するα−分枝鎖状カルボン酸のビニルエステル、例えばVeoVa9、VeoVa10、VeoVa11の群からの1つ又はそれ以上の別のコモノマー1〜50質量%とのコモノマー混合物;及び
酢酸ビニルと、エチレン1〜40質量%と、好ましくは1〜60質量%の炭素原子1〜15個を有する非分枝鎖状又は分枝鎖状のアルコールのアクリル酸エステル、特にn−ブチルアクリラート又は2−エチルヘキシルアクリラートとの混合物;及び
酢酸ビニル30〜75質量%、ビニルラウラート又は炭素原子9〜11個を有するα−分枝鎖状カルボン酸のビニルエステル1〜30質量%と、並びに炭素原子1〜15個を有する非分枝鎖状又は分枝鎖状のアルコールのアクリル酸エステル、特にn−ブチルアクリラート又は2−エチルヘキシルアクリラート1〜30質量%とを有し、さらにエチレン1〜40質量%を含有する、混合物;
並びに酢酸ビニルと、エチレン1〜40質量%と塩化ビニル1〜60質量%との混合物であり;その際に
前記混合物はさらに、挙げた補助モノマーを挙げた量で含有していてよく、かつ質量%の記載は合計でその都度100質量%である。
加圧反応器R1中に、脱イオン水120kg、88mol%の加水分解度及び4mPasのヘプラーによる粘度を有するポリビニルアルコールの20%溶液92kg、並びに酢酸ビニル236kg及びエチレン19kgを装入した。
酸化剤:t−ブチルヒドロペルオキシドの3%溶液
還元剤:ナトリウムヒドロキシメタンスルフィナート(Brueggolit)の5%溶液
重合の開始と共に、反応器内容物を、3m3/hの速度で外部循環路を経てポンプ輸送した。同時に、内部温度を、85℃に安定に確立されるように制御した。
例1のように行ったが、ただし、熱交換器として匹敵しうる容積を有する従来の管形熱交換器を使用した。熱除去性能は、約25KWで本発明により使用される熱交換器の約60%に過ぎなかった。重合時間は、155分に延長された。前記管形熱交換器は、使用時間の過程で(通常50チャージまで)、明らかな壁被覆物が形成する傾向にあり、冷却性能の相応する減少を伴った。
Claims (8)
- ポンプ及び熱交換器が備えられている外部冷却循環路を有する反応器中で乳化重合することによって保護コロイドで安定化されたポリマーを製造する方法であって、反応器中に存在する反応混合物を、ポンプを用いて、固定された内部構造物を有する冷却されたスタティックミキサー−熱交換器中へ搬送し、引き続き前記反応器へ返送することを特徴とする、保護コロイドで安定化されたポリマーの製造方法。
- 流動速度が1時間あたり反応器容積の少なくとも2倍であるように外部冷却循環路が寸法決定されている、請求項1記載の方法。
- 冷却性能が≧50KW/m3反応器容積であるようにスタティックミキサー−熱交換器が寸法決定されている、請求項1又は2記載の方法。
- 炭素原子1〜15個を有する非分枝鎖状又は分枝鎖状のアルキルカルボン酸のビニルエステル、炭素原子1〜15個を有するアルコールのメタクリル酸エステル及びアクリル酸エステル、ビニル芳香族化合物、オレフィン、ジエン及びビニルハロゲン化物を含む群からの1つ又はそれ以上のエチレン系不飽和モノマーを重合させる、請求項1から3までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 炭素原子1〜15個を有する非分枝鎖状又は分枝鎖状のアルキルカルボン酸の1つ又はそれ以上のビニルエステルを、エチレンと共重合させる、請求項1から4までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- モノマーの全質量を基準としてそれぞれ、30〜90質量%の量の炭素原子1〜15個を有する非分枝鎖状又は分枝鎖状のアルキルカルボン酸の1つ又はそれ以上のビニルエステル、1〜40質量%の量のエチレンを、場合によりアクリル酸又はメタクリル酸のエステル、ビニルハロゲン化物又はオレフィンを含む群からの1つ又はそれ以上の別のコモノマーと共重合させる、請求項1から4までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 保護コロイドとしての部分けん化又は完全けん化されたポリビニルアルコールの存在で重合させる、請求項1から6までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
- 乳化重合を用いて得られる水性ポリマー分散液を、水中に再分散可能なポリマー粉末へと乾燥させる、請求項1から7までのいずれか1項記載の方法。
