Description
[0002]本発明は、ポリマー化学、材料科学及び眼科学の分野に関する。より具体的に、本発明は、患者の眼内に埋め込まれたときに、グリスニングの低減された又はそれが無い眼内レンズ及びその調製方法に関する。
[0003]次のことは、読者の利益のためのみに背景として提供するもので、本発明の従来技術を意味するものでもなければ、そう解釈されるべきものでもない。
[0008]したがって、一態様において本発明は、約1wt%から約12wt%の平衡含水率を有する光学ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドと、そのポリマー又はポリマーブレンドを、それがレンズに形成されたら、体温以上即ちおよそ37℃以上の温度でその平衡含水率にするのに十分な等張食塩水とを含む眼内レンズに関する。
[0028]本明細書で使用する「眼内レンズ」は、患者の眼内に埋め込むことができる、ポリマーの有水晶体眼又は無水晶体眼(当技術分野において偽水晶体とも称される)視力矯正デバイスのことである。有水晶体眼のレンズは、近視(near−sightedness)、遠視(far−sightedness)及び乱視(不規則な形状の角膜又はある場合には不規則な形状の生来の水晶体が原因で網膜上の光の焦点合わせが悪いことによるかすみ目)などの屈折異常を矯正するために使用される。有水晶体眼レンズが埋め込まれるときには生来の水晶体は元の位置に残されるが、一方、偽水晶体眼レンズの埋め込みの前には水晶体が除去される。無水晶体眼即ち偽水晶体眼レンズは、疾患、最も多いのは白内障、即ち生来の水晶体の混濁による生来の水晶体の除去後の眼に挿入される。いずれのタイプのレンズも、虹彩の前方の前房、又は虹彩の後方及び生来の水晶体の前方の後房、又は生来の水晶体が除去される前にあった位置に埋め込むことができる。眼内レンズは「ハード」即ち比較的柔軟でなくても、「ソフト」即ち比較的柔軟であるが折り畳み可能でなくてもよいが、本発明の目的に対して、現在好ましいレンズは、折り畳み可能なアクリル系ポリマーレンズである。折り畳み可能なレンズは、ハード又はソフトレンズにとって必要であるよりもずっと小さい切開部を通して眼内に埋め込むことが可能である、もっと小さい形状に折り畳むことができるほど十分に柔軟なものである。即ち、ハード及びソフトレンズは、6mm以上の切開を必要とする可能性があるが、折り畳み可能なレンズは、通常3mm又はさらにそれより小さい切開を必要とするだけである。
Claims (18)
- 約1wt%から約12wt%の平衡含水率を有する光学ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドと、
前記ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドを、それがレンズに形成されたら、およそ37℃以上の温度でその平衡含水率にするのに十分な等張食塩水と
を含み、
前記光学ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドが、ポリ(エチレングリコール)フェニルエーテルアクリレート、スチレン、2−ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート及びエチレングリコールジメタクリレートのコポリマーを含む、
眼内レンズ。 - 折り畳み可能な眼内レンズである、請求項1に記載の眼内レンズ。
- 前記ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドの平衡含水率が約2wt%から約8wt%である、請求項1に記載の眼内レンズ。
- 前記ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドの平衡含水率が約3wt%から約6wt%である、請求項1に記載の眼内レンズ。

- 前記眼内レンズが、前記等張食塩水溶液との接触に先立って商品として包装されている、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドの平衡含水率が、約37℃で約2wt%から約8wt%である、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリマー又はポリマーブレンドの平衡含水率が、約37℃で約3wt%から約6wt%である、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記コポリマーが、約40wt%のポリ(エチレングリコール)フェニルエーテルアクリレート、約26wt%のスチレン、約30wt%の2−ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート及び約4wt%のエチレングリコールジメチルアクリレートを含む、請求項7に記載の方法。
