Description
− 1層以上の層を含んで成る第1の被膜を有する切削工具インサートを準備する工程、
− 前記インサートの少なくとも救い面を噴射加工操作にさらして、0.25mmの測定長さに渡って0.3μm未満の表面粗さ(Ra)を備える滑らかな表面を得る工程、及び
− 前記インサートを微細な研削加工ディスクを使用する周囲研削加工操作で処理すること、すなわち前記切れ刃の周囲または逃げ側面の全体のいずれかを処理して、実質的に刃半径の存在しない切れ刃を形成し、且つ切れ刃に少なくとも隣接するに逃げ側面から前記第1の被膜を除去する工程、
− PVD技術を使用して1〜6好ましくは2〜3μmの耐摩耗性の層を堆積する工程。この耐摩耗性の層は好ましくはTi(C、N)、TiNまたは(Ti、Al)Nである。
6%のCo及び残部としてWCの化学組成を備える形式VCEX110301R−Fの超硬合金インサートが、0.5μmの等軸粒のTiCN層と続いて5μmの柱状粒の厚いTiCNの層とを、MTCV技術(処理温度850℃)を使用することによって被覆した。同一被覆サイクルの際のその後の工程において、TiCxNyOz(ほぼ、x=0.6、y=0.2及びz=0.2)の等軸粒を有する1μmの厚い層が堆積され、続いて4μmのαAl2O3の厚い層が堆積された。被覆後、このインサートは、0.25mmの測定長さに割って0.2μmの表面粗さまで湿式噴射加工によって滑らかにされた。その後、このインサートは、粒径が25μmのダイヤモンドディスクによる周辺研削加工操作で処理され、逃げ面上の被膜を除去することによって鋭い切れ刃が形成された。
実施例1のインサートの半分が、PVD技術を使用して2〜3μmの(Ti、Al)Nの層で被覆された。
実施例1、先行技術、及び実施例2の本願発明のインサートが、次の条件のことで試験された。

前記最外層のPVD層が、前記切れ刃に少なくとも隣接する前記逃げ面上のただ一つの被膜であるように、前記第1の被膜が除去されることを特徴とする金属を機械加工するための切削工具インサート。
− 1層以上の層から成る第1の被膜を有する切削工具インサートを準備する工程、
− 前記インサートの少なくともすくい面を噴射加工操作にさらして、0.25mmの測定長さに渡って0.3μm未満の表面粗さ(Ra)を有する滑らかな表面を得る工程、
及び
− 前記インサートの周囲研削加工操作である前記切れ刃の周囲または逃げ側面の全体のいずれかを微細な研削加工ホイールで処理して、実質的に刃半径の存在しない切れ刃を形成し、且つ切れ刃に少なくとも隣接するに逃げ側面から前記第1の被膜を除去する工程、
を含んで成なり、
最外層の耐摩耗性の層が、PVD技術を使用して堆積されること
を特徴とする金属を機械加工するための切削工具インサートを製造する方法。
