各顎部材は、この顎部材の長さに沿って延びる少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面を備え、各組織密封表面は、電気外科エネルギーの供給源に接続されるように適合されており、その結果、少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面は、この導電性組織密封表面の間の組織に通して電気外科エネルギーを伝導させて、密封を実施することが可能である、1対の対向する第一の顎部材および第二の顎部材;

(項目16)
組織内の特定の領域にエネルギーを集束させる方法であって、この方法は、以下の工程:

本開示は、組織を密封および/または切断するための器具とともに使用するための電極アセンブリに関する。この電極アセンブリは、1対の対向する第一の顎部材および第二の顎部材を備え、これらの顎部材のうちの少なくとも一方は、第一の位置から第二の位置へと、他方に対して可動であり、この第一の位置において、これらの顎部材は、互いに対して間隔を空けた関係で配置され、そしてこの第二の位置において、これらの顎部材は、これらの顎部材の間に組織を把持するように協働する。
ここで種々の図を参照すると、図1は、内視鏡外科手術手順に関連して使用するための双極鉗子10を図示し、そして図2は、従来の開胸外科手術手順に関連して使用することを意図された開胸鉗子200を図示する。本明細書中での目的のために、内視鏡器具または開胸器具のいずれかが、本明細書中に記載される種々の電極アセンブリとともに利用され得る。明らかに、異なる電気的接続および電気的考慮事項ならびに機械的接続および機械的考慮事項が、各特定の型の器具に適用されるが、電極アセンブリおよびその作動特徴に関する新規局面は、一般に、開胸設計と内視鏡設計との両方に関して一致するままである。

Claims (15)
- 電極アセンブリであって、該電極アセンブリは、
2つの対向する顎部材であって、該顎部材のうちの少なくとも一方は、第一の位置から第二の位置へと他方に対して可動であり、該第一の位置において、該顎部材は、互いに対して間隔を空けた関係で配置され、そして該第二の位置において、該顎部材は、該顎部材の間に組織を把持するように協働し、
各顎部材は、該顎部材の長さに沿って延びる少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面を備え、各組織密封表面は、電気外科エネルギーの供給源に接続されるように適合されており、かつ、該組織密封表面の間に保持される組織を通して電気外科エネルギーを伝達するよう構成されている顎部材;
該各顎部材の少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面と該電気外科エネルギーの供給源との間の電気的接続を可能にするように適合された第一の電気的接続;
該顎部材のうちの少なくとも一方の内部に配置された、少なくとも1つの加熱要素であって、該少なくとも1つの加熱要素は、電気エネルギーが印加される前に、該顎部材の少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面を予熱するように構成されている、少なくとも1つの加熱要素;
該少なくとも1つの加熱要素と代替のエネルギー供給源との間の電気的接続を可能にするように適合された第二の電気的接続;ならびに
該電気外科エネルギーの供給源と該代替のエネルギー供給源との間をスイッチするように構成されたスイッチデバイス、を備える、電極アセンブリ。 - 前記加熱要素が、ニクロム線、ニクロムリボン、CalrodおよびPTCセラミックからなる群より選択される、請求項1に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 各顎部材上に配置された絶縁材料をさらに備え、該絶縁材料は、ガラス、セラミックおよびポリマー材料からなる群より選択される、請求項1に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- RFエネルギーを前記加熱要素に供給するように作動可能なRFエネルギー源をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 加熱速度を予測するように作動可能なフィードバック制御機構をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 前記顎部材のうちの少なくとも一方に配置された、導電性切断要素をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 前記加熱要素が、前記導電性切断要素の内部に配置されている、請求項6に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 前記加熱要素が、ニクロム線、ニクロムリボン、CalrodおよびPTCセラミックからなる群より選択される、請求項7に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 前記少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面の温度を測定するように構成された、少なくとも1つのセンサをさらに備える、請求項7に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 前記組織の温度を測定するように構成された、少なくとも1つのセンサをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の電極アセンブリ。
- 組織を密封するためのシステムであって、該システムは、
電気外科エネルギーの供給源;および
電極アセンブリを備え、該電極アセンブリが:
2つの対向する顎部材であって、該顎部材のうちの少なくとも一方は、第一の位置から第二の位置へと他方に対して可動であり、該第一の位置において、該顎部材は、互いに対して間隔を空けて配置され、そして該第二の位置において、該顎部材は、該顎部材の間に組織を把持するように協働し、
各顎部材は、該顎部材の長さに沿って延びる少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面を備え、各組織密封表面は、該電気外科エネルギーの供給源に接続されるように適合されており、かつ、該導電性組織密封表面の間に保持される組織を通して電気外科エネルギーを伝達するように構成されている顎部材;
該各顎部材の少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面と該電気外科エネルギーの供給源との間の電気的接続を可能にするように適合された第一の電気的接続;
該顎部材のうちの少なくとも一方の内部に配置された、少なくとも1つの加熱要素であって、該少なくとも1つの加熱要素は、電気外科エネルギーが印加される前に、該少なくとも1つの導電性組織密封表面を予熱するように構成されている、少なくとも1つの加熱要素;
該少なくとも1つの加熱要素と代替のエネルギー供給源との間の電気的接続を可能にするように適合された第二の電気的接続;ならびに
該電気外科エネルギーの供給源と該代替のエネルギー供給源との間をスイッチするように構成されたスイッチデバイス、を備える、システム。 - 前記少なくとも1つの加熱要素が、ニクロム線、ニクロムリボン、CalrodおよびPTCセラミックからなる群より選択される、請求項11に記載のシステム。
- 前記顎部材のうちの少なくとも一方に配置された、導電性切断要素をさらに備える、請求項11に記載のシステム。
- 加熱速度を予測するように作動可能なフィードバック制御機構をさらに備える、請求項11に記載のシステム。
