Description
(i)外的界面活性剤と、電解質と、非イオン性ポリウレタンから構成されるポリウレタン粒子とをその中に有する水から構成されるポリウレタン分散物を、凝固したポリウレタン品(a coagulated polyurethane article)を形成するために充分な時間にわたって凝固温度に加熱すること、及び
(ii)凝固したポリウレタン品を第2の乾燥温度に加熱し、その結果、外的界面活性剤の少なくとも一部及び電解質の少なくとも一部が、耐湿性ポリウレタン品の内部に分散された水不溶性の化合物を形成するようにすること
を含む、耐湿性ポリウレタン品の形成方法である。

ポリウレタン分散物を、(1)アミノエチルエタノールアミン(AEEA)がピペラジン系の鎖伸張剤の代わりに使用され、使用されたAEEAの量が、プレポリマーのNCO含有量の30パーセントと等価な量であること、及び、(2)ポリウレタンの重量比で100部あたり3重量部のドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウム界面活性剤がトリエタノールアミンドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸塩の代わりに使用されたことを除いて、米国特許第6,087,440号に記載される実施例と同じ手順を使用して、上記のプレポリマーを使用して作製する。分散物を撹拌しながら、一定量の硝酸カルシウムを、表1に示されるような界面活性剤1モルあたりの硝酸カルシウムのモル量で加えた。
分散物を、硝酸カルシウムが分散物に加えられなかったことを除いて、実施例1〜3について記載されるのと同じ方法で作製した。動的光散乱を使用する体積平均粒子サイズ及び数平均粒子サイズ、ならびに、凝固温度を、それぞれの分散物が作製された同じ日、及び、18日後に測定した。この分散物の場合、凝固温度は、分散物を80℃に加熱した後でさえ見出されなかった。
ポリウレタンプレポリマーを、52.3wtパーセントのVORANOL* 222−056、14.7wtパーセントのポリプロピレングリコールP425(MWが425のポリプロピレンオキシド型ジオール、The Dow Chemical Companyから入手可能)及び33wtパーセントのISONATE* 125M(MDI)を混合することによって調製した。1滴のベンゾイルクロリドを、混合物を80℃に加熱する前に加えた。混合物を低いrpmにおいて80℃で4時間混合した。得られたプレポリマーは5.9wtパーセントのNCOを有し、34,000cpsの粘度を有していた。(*The Dow Chemical Companyの商標)。

- 外的界面活性剤(an external surfactant)と、電解質と、ポリウレタン粒子とをその中に有する水を含み、ポリウレタン粒子が、安定した水性ポリウレタン分散物を外的界面活性剤の非存在下で与えるのに不十分な量でエチレンオキシドユニットを有する非イオン性ポリウレタンから構成され、エチレンオキシドユニットの少なくとも一部分が、分子量が400〜1500であるモノヒドロキシルポリエチレンオキシド、分子量が800〜3000であるポリエチレンオキシドジオール、又は、その組合せからなる、熱凝固させることを専らにする、安定した熱凝固性ポリウレタン分散物。
- 非イオン性ポリウレタン内のエチレンオキシドユニットの量が非イオン性ポリウレタンの少なくとも0.1重量パーセント〜最大でも20重量パーセントである、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン分散物。

- 有機溶媒を実質的に含まない、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 最大でも2000ppm(重量比)の有機溶媒を有する、請求項7に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 電解質が多価カチオンの中性塩である、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 電解質がアルカリ土類カチオンの塩である、請求項9に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- アルカリ土類カチオンの塩が、硝酸カルシウム、硝酸マグネシウム、硝酸ストロンチウム及び硝酸バリウム、又は、その混合物である、請求項10に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- ポリウレタンが0.01〜10の電解質対界面活性剤のモル比率を有する、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 前記比率が少なくとも0.25である、請求項12に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 前記比率が少なくとも0.5である、請求項13に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 外的界面活性剤がイオン性界面活性剤である、請求項9に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- イオン性界面活性剤がアニオン性界面活性剤である、請求項15に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- アニオン性界面活性剤が一価の金属カチオンを有する、請求項16に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 一価の金属カチオンが、Na、K、Li、又は、その組合せである、請求項17に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 分子量が400〜1500であるモノヒドロキシルポリエチレンオキシド、分子量が800〜3000である非イオン性ポリエチレンオキシドジオール、又は、その組合せからなるエチレンオキシドユニットの一部分が、ポリウレタン粒子に存在するエチレンオキシドユニットの総量の少なくとも10重量パーセントである、請求項1に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- 前記一部分が少なくとも25パーセントである、請求項19に記載のポリウレタン分散物。
- (i)請求項1に記載のポリウレタン分散物を、凝固したポリウレタン品を形成するために充分な時間にわたって凝固温度に加熱すること、及び
(ii)凝固したポリウレタン品を第2の乾燥温度に加熱し、その結果、外的界面活性剤の少なくとも一部及び電解質の少なくとも一部が、耐湿性ポリウレタン品の内部に分散された水不溶性の化合物を形成するようにすること
を含む、耐湿性ポリウレタン品の形成方法。 - 電解質が多価カチオンの中性塩である、請求項21に記載の方法。
- 電解質がアルカリ土類カチオンの塩である、請求項22に記載の方法。
- アルカリ土類カチオンの塩が、硝酸カルシウム、硝酸マグネシウム、硝酸ストロンチウム及び硝酸バリウム、又は、その混合物である、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 外的界面活性剤がイオン性界面活性剤である、請求項22に記載の方法。
- 外的界面活性剤がアニオン性界面活性剤である、請求項25に記載の方法。
- アニオン性界面活性剤が一価の金属カチオンを有する、請求項26に記載の方法。
- 非イオン性ポリウレタンが、エチレンオキシドユニットを、安定した水性ポリウレタン分散物を外的界面活性剤の非存在下で与えるのに不十分である量で有し、エチレンオキシドユニットの少なくとも一部分が、分子量が400〜1500であるモノヒドロキシルポリエチレンオキシド、分子量が800〜3000である非イオン性ポリエチレンオキシドジオール、又は、その組合せからなる、請求項27に記載の方法。
- 分子量が400〜1500であるモノヒドロキシルポリエチレンオキシド、分子量が800〜3000である非イオン性ポリエチレンオキシドジオール、又は、その組合せからなるエチレンオキシドユニットの一部分が、非イオン性ポリウレタンに存在するエチレンオキシドユニットの総量の少なくとも10重量パーセントである、請求項28に記載の方法。
- 前記一部分が少なくとも25パーセントである、請求項29に記載の方法。
- 第2の乾燥温度が凝固温度よりも高い、請求項21に記載の方法。
- 第2の乾燥温度が凝固温度よりも少なくとも10℃高い、請求項31に記載の方法。
- 請求項1に記載されるポリウレタン分散物の溶融ポリウレタン粒子から構成されるポリウレタン品。
- 請求項21に記載される方法によって形成されるポリウレタン品。
