Description
Claims (12)
- 現在無線接続中のスレーブ装置の、共用リソース・ネットワークの第1マスター装置から、前記共用リソース・ネットワークの他のマスター装置へのハンドオフを実行する無線通信システムにおいて、この方法が、
前記共用リソース・ネットワークのトポロジについての情報を、前記第1マスター装置及び前記他のすべてのマスター装置内に保持するステップと;
前記ハンドオフ期間中に、1つ以上の他のマスター装置において、前記トポロジにもとづいて呼出し手順を実行するステップと
を具え、前記呼出し手順では、前記他のマスター装置の各々が前記スレーブ装置を呼び出すように構成され、かつ
前記リソース・ネットワークのマスター装置によって保持されるトポロジ情報はマトリクス形態で保持され、本情報は、何れの1以上のマスター装置が前記第1マスター装置に隣接しているかの情報を含み、
前記他のマスター装置の各々の、前記第1マスター装置からの近さにもとづいて、前記呼出し手順を実行する前記他のマスター装置を決定し、前記第1マスター装置に隣接する前記他のマスター装置のみにおいて、前記呼出し手順を実行するステップを具えていることを特徴とするハンドオフの実行方法。 - 前記ハンドオフ期間中に、前記第1マスター装置が、前記他のマスター装置に、前記スレーブ装置に関する呼出し情報を提供するステップを具えて、前記情報が、前記隣接するマスター装置の各々が前記スレーブ装置を呼び出す手助けをするものであり、前記情報が、前記スレーブ装置のアドレスを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ネットワークのトポロジ情報を用いて、クロック・オフセット情報を交換するための隣接するマスター装置を選択し、マスター装置間でタイムスタンプ付きの情報を交換することによって、前記クロック・オフセット情報を導出するステップを具えていることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記マスター装置どうしを接続する共用リソース・ネットワークを通して、前記マスター装置間でメッセージを交換して、前記ネットワークのトポロジ情報を前記メッセージ中で伝えることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記共用リソース・ネットワークの初期化とほぼ同時に、あるいは初期化後に、前記ネットワークのトポロジ情報を特定して、これにより、ネットワークの動作中に生じるクロックのドリフトを考慮に入れるためのクロック・オフセット情報を交換するために、接続すべき隣接するアクセスポイントを特定するステップを具えていることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- ベンダー向けのホスト・コントローラ・インタフェース・コマンドを用いる方法、あるいは、少なくとも1つの前記マスター装置を周期的に問合せモードにする方法により、マスター装置の元のクロック値をマスター装置に送ることによって、前記ネットワークのトポロジを特定するステップを具えて、前記問合わせモードでは、前記少なくとも1つのマスター装置が他のマスター装置と通信して、前記他のマスター装置の応答を用いて、前記他のマスター装置のそれぞれのクロック・オフセットの推定値を更新することを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記スレーブ装置が、現在接続中のマスター装置にハンドオフ要求を送信して、ほぼその直後に連続的な呼出し走査状態に入ることによってハンドオフ手順を起動して、前記現在接続中のマスター装置が、前記ハンドオフ要求を、前記現在接続中のマスター装置に実質的に隣接する1つ以上のマスター装置に転送するステップを具えて、前記ハンドオフ要求が、前記スレーブ装置のネットワーク・アドレスを含むことを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ハンドオフ手順をハード・ハンドオーバとして実行するステップを具えて、ハード・ハンドオーバでは、前記スレーブ装置と次の、あるいは目標とするマスター装置との接続が少なくとも確立中である間は、前記現在接続中のマスター装置が、前記スレーブ装置との接続用に割り当てたリソースをデータ破壊または解放しないで、事前設定したタイムアウト時間が時間切れになるか、あるいは前記次のマスター装置からの確認応答メッセージを受信した際に、元の接続を切断して、これにより、試みたハンドオフが不成功であった場合でも、前記スレーブ装置が元の接続に戻ることを可能にすることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記スレーブ装置が前記次のマスター装置に接続したことを示すメッセージを受信した際に、前記スレーブ装置を呼出し中か、あるいは前記スレーブ装置と接続中の他のマスター装置が、この呼出しまたは接続を中止するステップを具えていることを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記現在接続中のマスター装置に隣接する他のマスター装置のいずれもが、そのカバーする領域が重複しないように、前記各マスター装置を動作させて、これにより、前記スレーブ装置が、同じパケットを最寄の前記他のマスター装置からしか受信しないことを特徴とする請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記ネットワークのトポロジ情報を用いて、前記マスター装置どうしの隣接関係についての情報、及び隣接する前記マスター装置のネットワーク・アドレスについての情報を有するマスター装置のグループ内の1つ以上のマスター装置を構成して、前記ネットワークのトポロジ情報をマトリクス形式で保持して、前記マトリクスを1つ以上の前記マスター装置に局所的に記憶するステップを具えて、前記マトリクスが、前記マスター装置どうしの隣接関係、及び隣接しない他の前記マスター装置が、前記ネットワークがカバーする範囲の少なくとも一部にあることを示すことを特徴とする請求項1〜10のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 移動プローブを用いることによって、前記ネットワークのトポロジ情報を自動的に収集するステップを具えて、前記移動プローブが、前記共用リソース・ネットワークがカバーする範囲内の異なる位置で問合せ手順を実行することによって前記マスター装置を探索して、前記マスター装置からの前記問合せに対する応答の記録を作成するように、前記移動プローブを適応させたことを特徴とする請求項1〜11のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
