Solids 121 (1990) 310-314)。これまでのこれらの材料に関する報告の中で、A. Makishimaらは、アルコキシド基および触媒の膜の性質に対する影響を調査するために、チタンアルコキシドのアルコキシド基の種類および触媒の種類を変えた実験を行った。A. Makishimaらによって形成(deposited)された膜は、500℃でアニーリングされた。A. Makishimaらによって形成された膜のX線回析(XRD)パターンは、CeO2相のみの回析ピークが出現するという特徴を有していた。

製造方法におけるステップ、得られる生成物、および異なるCe:Te組成(Ce:Te composition)由来の膜の用途を示した比較表。
本発明の他の目的は、上述した欠点を克服したゾルゲル法による薄膜形の単斜晶系CeTi2O6相の製造方法を提供することである。
本発明のさらにもう一つの目的は、化学的および物理的に安定な膜を形成することができる方法を提供することである。
本発明のさらにもう一つの目的は、他の相が混在していない純粋の高い単相のCeTi2O6膜を製造することである。
本発明のさらにもう一つの目的は、高いイオン貯蔵容量および光透過率を有する膜を形成することである。
本発明のさらにもう一つの目的は、少ないステップ数の製造方法を用いることである。
a)膜の細孔の大きさは、200〜300nmの範囲であり、
b)結晶サイズは4.5〜16nmであり、
c)波長550nmの光の透過率は、75〜80%であり、
d)波長550nmの光の透過変調率(transmission modulation)は1%未満であり、
e)屈折率は約1.99であり、
f)間接バンドギャップは、約3.25eVであり、
g)イオン貯蔵容量(ion storage capacity)は、19〜23mCcm−2である、単斜晶系CeTi2O6薄膜を提供する。
a)塩化セリウム七水和物を無水エタノールに溶解し、約0.20〜0.25Mの塩化セリウム七水和物の溶液を準備するステップと、
b)ステップa)で準備した溶液を、0.331〜0.624Mのチタニウムプロポキシド溶液に添加し、得られた溶液を4〜10分間攪拌し、その後20〜30℃で、約1週間熟成させるステップと、
c)前記熟成させた溶液を、導電性基板またはマイクロスライドガラス上にスピンコートし、その後、10〜20分間、大気中で乾燥し、そして、前記膜を5〜10分間、580〜620℃の温度でアニーリングし、単斜晶系CeTi2O6薄膜を得るステップと、を有する方法を提供する。
本発明の一の実施の形態では、塩化セリウム七水和物の溶液の濃度は、0.22Mである。
本発明のもう一つの実施の形態では、チタンプロポキシド溶液の濃度は、0.372〜0.559Mである。
本発明のもう一つの実施の形態では、用いられるCeとTiとのモル比は、0.4:1〜0.6:1である。
本発明のもう一つの実施の形態では、ステップb)で得られ、膜を形成するために用いられる溶液は、ゲル化開始直後の状態(state of just commencing to become a gel)である。
本発明のもう一つの実施の形態では、ステップb)で得られる前記熟成させた溶液は、35秒間、3000rpmでスピンコートされる。
本発明のもう一つの実施の形態では、形成された膜は、大気中で15分間乾燥される。
本発明のもう一つの実施の形態では、膜は、600℃で5分間アニーリングされる。
本発明のもう一つの実施の形態では、導電性基板はフッ素でドープされた酸化スズでコートされたガラスである。
先行技術で報告された1400℃〜1500℃で形成される粉状のCeTi2O6材料と比較して、本発明の薄膜状のCeTi2O6材料は、ゾルゲル法を用いて600℃で、製造される。
1.薄膜形のCeTi2O6化合物を得るには、ゾルにおけるCeとTiとのモル比を0.4:1〜0.6:1とする。
2.薄膜形のCeTi2O6化合物の形成を律速する他の重要なパラメータは、温度範囲である。薄膜形のCeTi2O6化合物(product)を得るための最適な温度は600℃である。アニーリングは大気中で、上記温度で5分間行われる。温度が580℃以下の場合、薄膜形のCeTi2O6化合物を得ることはできない。
1.膜の形成には、少ないステップ数(4ステップ)しか要求されない。
2.膜の形成のために用いられるゾルの調製が、極めて短時間でできる。
3.薄膜形のCeTi2O6相の形成は、CeTi2O6の光触媒としての使用を容易にする。従来の粉状の触媒の場合、反応の際に攪拌しなければならず、かつ反応後は分離しなければならないという欠点があった。薄膜としてコートされる触媒の製造は、このような欠点を克服することができる。
4.CeO2およびTiO2のアニーリングを1400℃〜1500℃で行わなければならない粉状のCeTi2O6材料と比較して、CeTi2O6膜は著しく低い温度(すなわち600℃)で得られる。
5.CeTi2O6膜は不活性対極、センサおよび光触媒に用いられうる。
塩化セリウム七水和物(CeCl3.7H2O メルク社製)を無水エタノール(C2H5OH メルク社製)に溶解し、0.22Mの塩化セリウム七水和物の溶液を準備した。準備した無色透明の溶液を、溶液中のCeとTiとのモル比が0.5:1になるように、チタンプロポキシド溶液に加えた。得られた鮮黄色の溶液を5分間攪拌した。得られた鮮黄色の溶液のゲル化が開始した後、ゾルを、フッ素でドープされた酸化スズでコートされた極小スライドガラス基板上に、3000rpmで35秒間スピンコートし、その後15分間大気中で乾燥させた。その後、膜を、大気中で、5分間、600℃の温度で熱処理した。熱処理の際の加熱速度は1〜2℃/分であった。
塩化セリウム七水和物(CeCl3.7H2O メルク社製)を無水エタノール(C2H5OH メルク社製)に溶解し、0.22Mの塩化セリウム七水和物の溶液を準備した。準備した無色透明の溶液を、溶液中のCeとTiとのモル比が0.6:1になるように、チタンプロポキシド溶液に加えた。得られた鮮黄色の溶液を5分間攪拌した。得られた鮮黄色の溶液においてゲル化が開始した後、ゾルを、フッ素でドープされた酸化スズでコートされた極小スライドガラス基板上に、3000rpmで35秒間スピンコートし、その後15分間大気中で乾燥させた。その後、膜を、大気中で、5分間、600℃の温度で熱処理した。熱処理の際の加熱速度は1〜2℃/分であった。

Claims (9)
- 単斜晶系CeTi2O6薄膜であって、
a)膜の細孔の大きさは、200〜300nmの範囲であり、
b)結晶サイズは4.5〜16nmであり、
c)波長550nmの光の透過率は、75〜80%であり、
d)波長550nmの光の透過変調率(transmission modulation)は1%未満であり、
e)屈折率は1.99であり、
f)間接バンドギャップは、3.25eVであり、
g)イオン貯蔵容量(ion storage capacity)は、19〜23mCcm−2である、単斜晶系CeTi2O6薄膜。 - ゾルゲル法によって請求項1に記載の単斜晶系CeTi2O6 薄膜を製造する方法であって、
a)塩化セリウム七水和物を無水エタノールに溶解し、0.20〜0.25Mの塩化セリウム七水和物の溶液を準備するステップと、
b)ステップa)で準備した溶液を、CeとTiとのモル比が0.4:1〜0.6:1となるように0.331〜0.624Mのチタニウムプロポキシド溶液に添加し、得られた溶液を4〜10分間攪拌し、その後20〜30℃で、1週間熟成させるステップと、
c)前記熟成させた溶液を、導電性基板またはマイクロスライドガラス上にスピンコートし、その後、10〜20分間、大気中で乾燥させ、そして、前記膜を5〜10分間、580〜620℃の温度でアニーリングし、単斜晶系CeTi2O6薄膜を得るステップと、
を有する請求項1に記載の単斜晶系CeTi2O6 薄膜の製造方法。 - 前記塩化セリウム七水和物の溶液の濃度(strength)は、0.22Mである請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記チタンプロポキシド溶液の濃度は、0.372〜0.559Mである、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記ステップb)で得られ、前記膜を形成するために用いられる溶液は、ゲル化開始直後の状態(state of just commencing to become a gel)である、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記ステップb)で得られる前記熟成させた溶液は、35秒間、3000rpmでスピンコートされる請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記形成された(deposited)膜は、大気中で15分間乾燥される請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記膜は、600℃で5分間アニーリングされる、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記導電性基板はフッ素でドープされた酸化スズでコートされたガラスである、請求項2に記載の方法。
