Description
本発明の亜酸化ホウ素複合材料は、金属被覆したB6O粉末を、高温及び低圧力でホットプレスすることにより製造される。
B6O粉末出発材料を、アルミナボールを使用した遊星ボールミルを用いて約4時間粉砕した。B6O粉末はアルミニウムで被覆されることになっており、汚染物としてのアルミナは許容できると見なされたので、アルミナボールを使用した。粉砕されたB6O粉末中のアルミナの量は1%未満であり、したがって無視された。粉砕段階を導入することは、粉末に存在していた凝集体を破壊するのに役立った。
Al(s)+3NH4Cl(s)→AlCl3(s)+3NH3+3/2H2(g)
今回はAl/NH4Cl混合物の質量を増大させたことを除いて、実施例1の条件を繰り返した。混合粉末の質量比は、4:0.5(B6O:Al/NH4Cl)であった。実施例1で使用した被覆及びホットプレスの条件を、この試料を調製する際に使用した。得られた試料を研磨し、次いで、ビッカース圧子を用いて硬度及び破壊靭性の試験を行い、約25から28GPaの硬度(5kgの荷重)及び約3.5MPa.m0.5の破壊靭性を有することがわかった。
Al/NH4Cl混合物の質量を再度増加させたことを除いて、実施例1の条件を繰り返した。混合粉末の質量比は、4:0.75(B6O:Al/NH4Cl)であった。実施例1で使用した被覆及びホットプレスの条件を、この試料を調製する際に使用した。得られた試料を研磨し、次いで、ビッカース圧子を用いて硬度及び破壊靭性の試験を行い、約24から27GPaの硬度(5kgの荷重)及び約3.5MPa.m0.5の破壊靭性を有することがわかった。
実施例1の条件を繰り返し、Al/NH4Cl混合物の質量をもう一度増加させた。混合粉末の質量比は、4:1(B6O:Al/NH4Cl)であった。実施例1で使用した被覆及びホットプレスの条件を、この試料を調製する際に使用した。得られた試料を研磨し、次いで、ビッカース圧子を用いて硬度及び破壊靭性の試験を行い、約24.5GPaの硬度(5kgの荷重)及び約4.75MPa.m0.5の破壊靭性を有することがわかった。

- MxByOzを含むバインダー相に分散された微粒子又は顆粒状の亜酸化ホウ素を含む亜酸化ホウ素複合材料であって、
