Description
この方法が、触媒の実際の状態の精度に関して誤差源を含むことが、説明した従来の技術に応じて触媒器の酸素貯蔵能を算出する場合の欠点である。すなわち、触媒器の老化が、貴金属の活動を低下させるものの、酸素貯蔵能を低下させないことが起こりうる。したがって、場合によっては発生する有害物質の限界値を越えたことが、確認されないままにあって、エラーメッセージが発せられない。
触媒器の貴金属の焼結の程度を触媒器のワッシュコート構造の破損状態の程度に結合することによって、触媒器の老化の程度の信頼性の高い値が、僅かな測定経費で算定できる。これらの程度はそれぞれ、触媒器の酸素貯蔵能から算出される。これによって、触媒器の有害物質限界値を越えたことを認識しないことに関する誤差源又は触媒器の実際の老化の程度の謝った解釈に関する誤差源が回避される。

Claims (9)
- 内燃機関の排気管内に配置された触媒器の老化の程度を診断する方法であって、前記内燃機関に供給された空気/燃料のリッチ混合組成とリーン混合組成との比を急激に切り替える時に、前記触媒器の酸素貯蔵能が、前記触媒器の前後に配置された排気ガスセンサの信号によって算出される方法において、
前記触媒器の貴金属の焼結の程度及び前記触媒器のワッシュコート構造の破損状態の程度が、前記触媒器のその都度算出された酸素貯蔵能から算出され、この触媒器の老化の程度が、これらの両値を結合することによって算定されることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記触媒器の前記貴金属の前記焼結の程度は、リーン混合組成からリッチ混合組成への急激な切り替え時の前記触媒器の実際の酸素貯蔵能とリッチ混合組成からリーン混合組成への急激な切り替え時の前記触媒器の実際の酸素貯蔵能との除算を1から減算して算出されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記触媒器の前記ワッシュコート構造の前記破損状態の程度が、リッチ混合組成からリーン混合組成への急激な切り替え時の前記触媒器の実際の酸素貯蔵能とリッチ混合組成からリーン混合組成への急激な切り替え時の老化していない触媒器の酸素貯蔵能との除算を1から減算して算出されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記触媒器の前記老化の程度の閾値を越えたことが、必要な触媒の交換に対する目安として使用されることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- リッチ混合組成からリーン混合組成への急激な切り替え時の前記触媒器の前記酸素貯蔵能が、新たに使用される触媒器に対して算出され、前記ワッシュコート構造の前記破損状態の程度と前記触媒器の前記老化の程度とのそれぞれを算出する制御装置内に記憶されることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記触媒器の前記貴金属の焼結の程度が、OR論理又は任意のその他の論理関係若しくは数学的な関係を用いて前記触媒器の前記ワッシュコート構造の前記破損状態の程度に結合されることを特徴とする請求項1〜7のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
- 前記触媒器の前記老化の程度が、前記制御装置によって表示されることを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の方法。
