Description
本出願は、参照により詳細に、および全体として組み入れられる、2007年2月16日に出願された「Process for Treating Sludge and Manufacturing Bioorganically−Augmented High Nitrogen−Containing Inorganic Fertilizer」と題するUnited Status Provisional Application No.60/890,422に対する優先権を主張する。
図3は、固体12%から40%の範囲内、およびより一般的には固体18%から30%の範囲内でAM工場へ送達されるバイオソリッドを示している。この送達は、下水処理場(「WWTP」)からのコンベヤーもしくはパイプを通して、またはトラック、電車もしくは荷船を用いる伝統的輸送のいずれかによってでよい。工場に到着すると、脱水汚泥(301)は、プロセス内のポンプもしくは他の装置を損傷または破壊する可能性がある大きな異物を除去するために集塊破壊機もしくはふるい選別器具を通過させられる。汚泥は、加工処理されるまでは、蓄積および保管のために、サージタンクもしくは貯蔵タンクもしくはサイロまたは現場の底部収納庫(bottom bin)内に配置される。好ましくは送達される固体は、保持タンクもしくはサイロ内に配置され、次に状態調節のために第1混合装置へ搬送されてよい。
Claims (16)
- 汚泥を容器中で激しく混合してチキソトロープのペーストを形成する工程;
混合の際中または後で、1種以上の酸化剤を前記ペーストに添加する工程;
混合の際中または後で、1種以上の酸として硫酸および窒素源としてアンモニア源を前記ペーストに添加して、容器中に導入された前記硫酸が前記アンモニアウム源と反応し、不完全なアンモニウム形成と過剰な酸を生成する発熱反応を生じる工程;
前記ペーストは気体状アンモニアを散布してアンモニウム塩を形成するアンモニア処理を完了する工程;および
100℃を超える高温または20psi(138kPa)を超える圧力、あるいは前記高温と圧力の両方で30分間以下の間前記ペーストを維持し、ペースト中に存在する1種以上のタンパク質を変性させて病原性物質を不活化する工程;
を含む、汚泥を処理するための方法であって、
過加熱されたアンモニア蒸気への変換が、前記窒素源を前記ペーストに送達する送達ラインへ直接加熱器を適用する工程、または熱交換器によって回収される過剰な熱を前記送達ラインに適用する工程によって遂行され、その結果アンモニアは前記ペースト中の利用可能な酸との反応を完了して、pHをpH5〜pH7に上昇させる、前記方法。 - 前記汚泥を、激しく混合しながら27℃(80°F)、35℃(95°F)または44℃(111°F)の温度に加熱する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記1種以上の酸化剤が、カルシウムフェレート、ナトリウムフェレート、カリウムフェレート、過酸化水素、次亜塩素酸カルシウム、次亜塩素酸ナトリウム、次亜塩素酸カリウム、二酸化塩素、オゾン、酸素、酸化鉄、およびこれらの組合せからなる群から選択され、前記窒素源がアンモニウムスルフェート、アンモニウムホスフェート、気化アンモニア、液体アンモニアもしくは溶融アンモニウム溶融液、およびこれらの組合せからなる群から選択される、請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- 前記発熱反応が蒸気を生成し、該蒸気はその後除去されて乾燥効果を生じる、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記ペーストが1種以上の硬化剤とさらに混合され、押出もしくは造粒に供されてペレットまたは顆粒にされる、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記ペーストのpHを、酸化カルシウム、水酸化カルシウム、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、無水アンモニア、セメント窯粉塵、石灰窯粉塵、流動層灰、クラスCフライアッシュおよびクラスFフライアッシュ、多段式バーナーフライアッシュ、ミョウバン、水処理汚泥、木灰、並びにこれらの組合せからなる群から選択されるpH調節剤の添加により、pH4.5〜pH6.0の数値に調節する工程をさらに含む、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 摩耗および粉塵形成を減少させるために、乾燥させた顆粒もしくはペレットを脱塵もしくは艶出し用材料で被覆する工程をさらに含み、前記脱塵材料は冷却装置内で顆粒もしくはペレットに塗布される、請求項6に記載の方法。
- 尿素、アンモニウムニトレート、アンモニウムスルフェート、モノアンモニウムホスフェート、ジアンモニウムホスフェート、ウレアアンモニウムニトレート、液体ウレア、カリ、酸化鉄、溶解性鉄およびキレート鉄の1種以上を添加する工程をさらに含む、請求項1〜7のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 請求項1〜8のいずれか一項に記載の方法によって産生される肥料であって、少なくとも10重量%の窒素を含有し、生存可能な有害微生物を検出不能な量しか含まず、非毒性であり取扱および作物適用に安全である、前記肥料。
- 前記肥料が圃場に適用された時、窒素が溶解し、土壌の上方8インチにかけて緩徐に移動するよう、前記混合物内で化合物に結合したアンモニウム窒素を含有する、請求項9に記載の肥料。
- 汚泥を激しく混合して流動性ペーストを形成させ、混合の際中または後で、前記汚泥に下記を添加する工程、
1種以上の酸化剤、
1種以上のpH7未満の酸としての硫酸、および
pH7以上の窒素源としてのアンモニア源;
前記硫酸が前記アンモニアウム源と反応し、不完全なアンモニウム形成と過剰な酸を生成する発熱反応を生じて前記ペーストを加熱に供する工程;
前記ペーストに気体状アンモニアを散布してアンモニウム塩を形成するアンモニア処理を完了する工程;
前記ペーストを高温または圧力に或る時間維持して、ペースト中に存在する1種以上のタンパク質を変性させ望ましくない物質を不活化する工程;
前記ペーストを押出機または造粒機に通して顆粒またはペレットを製造しながら、ペーストに気体状アンモニウム散布を供し続ける工程;
前記顆粒またはペレットを乾燥して、除去された水の少なくとも1部をリサイクルまたは処理し、水源に排出する工程;
前記顆粒またはペレットを分粒し、サイズが大きい顆粒を破砕機または微粉砕機に供し、破砕または微粉砕された材料をペーストにリサイクルする工程;および
前記顆粒またはペレットを被覆して、非病原性であり30〜99%のバイオソリッドを含む有機強化肥料を産生する工程、
を含む、汚泥を処理するための方法であって、
過加熱されたアンモニア蒸気への変換が、前記窒素源を前記ペーストに送達する送達ラインへ直接加熱器を適用する工程、または熱交換器によって回収される過剰な熱を前記送達ラインに適用する工程によって遂行され、その結果アンモニアは前記ペースト中の利用可能な酸との反応を完了して、pHをpH5〜pH7に上昇させる、前記方法。 - 前記肥料を乾燥し、顆粒に形状化する工程を含み、前記肥料が少なくとも90%固体である、請求項11に記載の方法。

- 請求項13に記載の肥料であって、下水汚泥から加工された窒素強化バイオソリッドを含み、前記下水汚泥は微生物、医薬物質、家庭内下水汚物、および商業廃水および産業廃水を含み、下水汚泥内の医薬物質、生物学的活性化合物、病原性微生物およびそれらの組合せからなる群から選択される望ましくない化合物の生物活性が中和された、前記肥料。
- 10〜20重量%の窒素および10重量%未満の水を含む、顆粒またはペレットの形態の肥料であって、前記顆粒またはペレットが被覆されており、該被覆された顆粒またはペレットは不快な臭いを殆どか全く有しない、請求項14に記載の肥料。
- 滅菌されている、請求項14または15に記載の肥料。
