Description
本願は、Tohらの「振幅補正機能付きの光学エンコーダ」という名称で2008年4月30日に出願された米国特許出願第 号を参照することによって、その全体を組み込むものとする。
Claims (9)
- コリメートされた光ビームを発するように構成された発光体と、
複数の開口が配置され、ほぼ平面内で第1の方向に回転するように構成されたコード・ホイールと、
第1の垂直部分上に前記第1の方向に沿って配置された少なくとも第1及び第2のフォトディテクタと、それぞれ前記第1及び第2のフォトディテクタの上部及び下部に配置された第2及び第3の垂直部分上に位置決めされた少なくとも上部及び下部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタとを備える光検出器と、
コード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用回路と
を具備し、
前記上部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタが、前記下部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタの第2の光電流発生領域にほぼ等しい第1の光電流発生領域を有し、
前記光検出器は前記発光体と向き合っており、前記コード・ホイールは前記発光体と前記光検出器との間で回転するように配置及び構成されて、ホイールが回転するときコリメートされた光ビームが第1、第2及び第3の垂直部分上の開口を通過する略平面内に向けられ、前記第1および第2のフォトディテクタは、コリメートされたビームの第1の部分が入射するのに呼応して、第1及び第2の出力信号を発生するように構成され、また前記上部及び下部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタは、コリメートされたビームの第2及び第3の部分が入射するのに呼応して、コード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用回路に送られる第3及び第4の出力信号を発生するように構成され、前記回路は前記第3の出力信号と第4の出力信号の振幅の差を検出するように構成されて、前記差が所定のしきい値を超える場合は、コード・ホイールが位置合わせ不良であることを示すエラー信号を発生する、光学エンコーダ。 - 前記コード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用回路が、前記第3の出力信号及び前記第4の出力信号を受信するように構成されたトランスインピーダンス回路を備える、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光学エンコーダ。
- 前記コード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用回路が、前記第3の出力信号を前記第4の出力信号と比較するように構成されたコンパレータを備える、ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光学エンコーダ。
- 前記コンパレータが自身に関連したヒステリシス値を有する、ことを特徴とする請求項3に記載の光学エンコーダ。
- 前記ヒステリシス値が前記回路が発生したエラー信号よりも小さい、ことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の光学エンコーダ。
- 光学エンコーダ内のコード・ホイールの位置合わせ不良を示すエラー信号を発生させる方法であって、
コリメートされた光ビームを発するように構成された発光体を提供するステップと、
複数の開口が配置され、略平面内で第1の方向に回転するように構成されたコード・ホイールを提供するステップと、
第1の垂直部分上に前記第1の方向に沿って配置された少なくとも第1及び第2のフォトディテクタと、それぞれ第1及び第2のフォトディテクタの上部及び下部に配置された第2及び第3の垂直部分上に位置決めされた少なくとも上部及び下部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタとを備える光検出器を提供するステップであって、前記上部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタの第1の光電流発生領域と前記下部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタの第2の光電流発生領域がほぼ等しい、ステップと、
コード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用回路を提供するステップと、
前記コリメートされた光ビームが前記第1、第2及び第3の垂直部分上の開口を通過する略平面内に向けられるように、前記コード・ホイールを前記発光体と前記光検出器との間で回転させるステップと、
前記コリメートされたビームの第1の部分が入射するのに呼応して、前記第1及び第2のフォトディテクタを用いてそれぞれ第1及び第2の出力信号を発生するステップと、
前記コリメートされたビームの第2及び第3の部分が入射するのに呼応して、前記上部及び下部のコード・ホイール位置合わせ不良用フォトディテクタを用いてそれぞれ第3及び第4の出力信号を発生するステップと、
前記第3の出力信号と第4の出力信号の振幅の差を検出するステップであって、該差が所定のしきい値を超えたときに、コード・ホイールが位置合わせ不良であることを示すステップと、
を含む方法。 - 前記差が前記所定のしきい値を超えるとエラー信号を発生するステップをさらに含む、ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記第3の出力信号及び前記第4の出力信号を受信するように構成されたトランスインピーダンス回路を設けるステップをさらに含む、ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記第3の出力信号を前記第4の出力信号と比較するように構成されたコンパレータを設けるステップをさらに含む、ことを特徴とする請求項6に記載の方法。
