Description
図7は、発光スペクトルの測定装置100を模式的に示す図である。測定装置100は、主として、励起光として波長488nmのレーザ光を出射する光源102と、光源102からのレーザ光を直径2〜3μmのビームに集光する光学レンズ104と、光学レンズ104を透過したビームが入射されマルチコアファイバ106と、マルチコアファイバ106の出射端に設けられた対物レンズ108と、対物レンズ108と光学的に結合したCCD110とから構成される。また、測定装置100は、光源102からのレーザ光を透過するとともに、対物レンズ108で反射されてマルチコアファイバ106と光学レンズ104とを順に透過した光を反射するダイクロイックフィルタ112と、ダイクロイックフィルタ112により反射された光(対物レンズ108により反射された光)を受光し、当外反射光の分析を行うスペクトルアナライザ114と、を含む。さらに、測定装置100には、光学レンズ104とマルチコアファイバ106との光学的に接続するようマルチコアファイバ106の位置を調整するXYZステージ116と、雑音低減のための反射フィルタ118とが設けられている。
このような長波長領域における発光(ピーク)は、観察する組織からの蛍光と区別することができないため、蛍光診断の精度を悪化することとなる。
本発明は、このような問題を解決するために為され、その目的は、蛍光診断の精度を向上することができるマルチコアファイバを提供することにある。
本発明に係るマルチコアファイバは、全長が2m以下であることが好ましい。
本発明に係るマルチコアファイバは、前記クラッドにフッ素が添加されることが好ましい。
本発明に係るマルチコアファイバは、波長635nmにおいてシングルモードでの光伝搬が実現されることが好ましい。
図1は、本発明の実施形態によるマルチコアファイバの断面図である。図示の通り、マルチコアファイバ10は、画像伝送用のイメージサークル12と、イメージサークル12の外周を覆う石英ガラスジャケット14と、さらに石英ガラスジャケット14の外周を覆う被覆層16とから構成されている。
ただし、n(r)はコアの中心軸からの距離rにおける屈折率、n1はコアの中心軸における屈折率、Δはクラッドに対するコア中心軸での比屈折率差、aはコアの半径を表す。
さらに、マルチコアファイバの長さが長いほど発光強度が大きく、また、励起光の波長を長くすると(例えば、488nmや635nm)発光強度が低下するという実験結果や、純シリカコアやFドープシリカコアのマルチコアファイバにおいては、上記のブロードな発光が認められないとの実験結果も得られた。
以上の結果から、上記のブロードな発光は、コア中のGeが励起光により励起されて発せられるルミネセンス光であることが理解される。また、本発明者等が実用上のどの程度の発光強度であれば、実用上の問題がないかを検討した結果、発光強度が−65dBm以下であれば好適であることが明らかとなった。すなわち、図5から、コア中心部でのGe含有量が30wt%以下であれば好ましいことが分かった。
図6は、上述の製造方法により製造した本発明の実施例としてのマルチコアファイバと比較例としてのマルチコアファイバとの構造パラメータと評価結果とをまとめた表を示す。
なお、図6中、試料No.8および22のマルチコアファイバでは、作製過程において、マルチコアファイバの共通クラッドとなるガラス層へフッ素を添加しておらず、したがって、これらのマルチコアファイバは、純シリカ製の共通クラッドを有している。また、試料No.9および23のマルチコアファイバでは、ダイレクト法により作製したコア用ガラスロッドを使用して光ファイバ母材を作製した。
以上より、本発明によれば、蛍光診断の精度を向上することができるマルチコアファイバが提供される。
Claims (4)
- 一端から入射された波長405〜635nmの励起光を伝播して他端側の対象物に照射し、前記対象物からの蛍光を含む光を他端側から入射させて一端側に伝播する蛍光イメージング用のマルチコアファイバであって、
石英製のクラッドと、
1.3μmから2.0μmの直径を有し、その中心部においてゲルマニウムを20wt%以上30wt%以下の濃度で含有し、塩素の濃度が0.05重量%以下である、前記クラッドを貫通する石英製の複数のコアと、
を備え、開口数が0.35から0.45であり、前記複数のコアのそれぞれについての屈折率分布係数αが2.0から4.0であり、前記複数のコアの隣接する2つのコアの間隔が3.0μm以上4.0μm以下であり、前記複数のコアの直径に対する前記コアの間隔の比が1.7から2.6であるマルチコアファイバ。 - 全長が2m以下である請求項1に記載のマルチコアファイバ。
- 前記クラッドにフッ素が添加される請求項1又は2に記載のマルチコアファイバ。
- 波長635nmにおいてシングルモードでの光伝搬が実現される請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のマルチコアファイバ。
