Description
Claims (12)
- 繊維強化複合材料から形成される管を製造するための装置において、
内部のマンドレル空洞と、繊維強化材料により巻き付けられて、複合材料の積層体(lay-up)を形成する外表面とを有する細長状中空マンドレルと、
異なる温度の伝熱流体がマンドレル空洞を通って循環し、流体が循環する本体室を含む内部本体と、マンドレル空洞内に収容された場合に、マンドレル空洞の内壁表面に少なくとも密接に隣接する外壁とを有し、温度が上昇した流体が循環する場合、熱が複合材料の積層体を硬化あるいは形成するために、流体から複合材料の積層体に向けてマンドレルを通って伝わることを可能にするための流体流れ手段と、を備えたことを特徴とする装置。 - 流体が本体室を通って循環する場合、マンドレル空洞の内壁表面との接触が維持されるように、外壁が弾性変形自在な材料から形成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- マンドレルは、円筒状の金属管から形成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 管は、両端にフランジを有することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の装置。
- 管は、熱が伝わることを制限し、マンドレルの端部に対向して設けられた断熱端部分を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 繊維強化材料は、熱硬化性樹脂で予め含浸されたガラス繊維、炭素繊維、あるいはケブラ(Kevlar)を含む強化繊維からなる織物のシートあるいは束(bundle)によって形成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 繊維強化材料は、熱可塑性物質のフィラメント、粉末、ペレット(pellet)、あるいは顆粒(prill)を混合したガラス繊維、炭素繊維、あるいはケブラを含む強化繊維からなるシートあるいは束(bundle)によって形成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の装置。
- 弾性変形自在な内壁を支持する外部剛体壁を含む外部スリーブと、
外壁と内壁との間に設けられたギャップを通って、高温および高圧下の流体が循環する手段と、を更に有し、
外部スリーブが、マンドレル上の複合材料の積層体の少なくとも多くの部分の周囲に配置自在であり、これにより積層体に付加的に熱および圧力を与えることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の装置。 - 繊維強化複合材料からなる管を製造する方法において、
一般に管状形状の複合材料の積層体を供給する繊維強化材料を、内部マンドレル空洞を有する細長状中空マンドレルの周囲に巻き付けるとともに、マンドレル空洞内に、本体室と、マンドレル空洞の内壁表面に少なくとも密接に隣接する外壁とを有する内部本体を収容する工程と、
マンドレルの外壁の温度を上昇させて、複合材料の積層体の少なくとも多くの部分を硬化あるいは形成するために本体室を通って高温の伝熱流体を循環させる工程と、を備えたことを特徴とする方法。 - 積層体は、真空バッグ、収縮テープ(shrink tape)、あるいは弾性変形自在な外部被覆(seath)によって複合材料の積層体を硬化または形成するために複合材料の積層体を圧縮する工程を更に備えたことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 圧縮させる工程と、
外部剛体壁を含む外部スリーブと、複合材料の積層体上に配置された弾性変形自在な内部壁とによって複合材料積層体を硬化または形成する工程の間、複合材料の積層体に付加的に熱を与える工程と、を更に備え、
伝熱流体が前記外壁と内壁との間に設けられたギャップを通って循環することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。 - マンドレル空洞を通って循環する伝熱流体と、複合材料の積層体上に均一な圧力を与えるために外部スリーブを通って循環する伝熱流体との圧力を等しくする工程を備えたことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の方法。
