Description
「微細構造化」とは、リッジのパターンに関して、幅が1,000マイクロメートル未満、より典型的には600マイクロメートル未満、最も典型的には300マイクロメートル未満であり、深さ(高さ)が250マイクロメートル以下、より典型的には150マイクロメートル未満、最も典型的には100マイクロメートル未満であるリッジから実質的に構成されることを意味し、
「六角形パターン」とは、3以下のリッジが1つの点で出会うという規則に実質的に従うリッジのパターンを意味し、これは、図3aおよび図3bに示されたような6辺の(六角形)セルを主として含み、かつ、端縁領域で不完全なセルを含んでもよく、
「退化六角形パターン」は、3以下のリッジが1つの点で出会うという規則に実質的に従うリッジのパターンを意味し、これは、図4aおよび図4bに示されたような、6辺の(六角形)セルの2つ以上の連続した辺を平行にすることによって6辺の(六角形)セルから得てもよい、4辺、または5辺のセルを主として含み、かつ、端縁領域で不完全なセルを含んでもよく、
「一体的ガスケット」とは、MEAに関して、MEAのポリマー電解質膜、MEAの流体輸送層、または両方に結合されたガスケット、最も典型的には、MEAの流体輸送層に含浸させたガスケット材料を含むガスケットを意味する。
Claims (4)
- a)外縁部(6)を備えたアノード面と、外縁部(6)を備えたカソード面と、外周(7)とを有するポリマー電解質膜(1)と、
b)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード面の少なくとも一部と接触するアノード触媒材料層と、
c)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード面の少なくとも一部と接触するカソード触媒材料層と、
d)外縁部(4)を有し、前記アノード触媒材料層と接触し、前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在しないアノード側流体輸送層(2)と、
e)外縁部(5)を有し、前記カソード触媒材料層と接触し、前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在しないカソード側流体輸送層(3)と、
f)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在し、接触面(14)と、外周(16)とを有するアノード側ガスケット(10)と、
g)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在し、接触面(15)と、外周(17)とを有するカソード側ガスケット(11)と、
を含むガスケット付燃料電池膜電極アセンブリであって、
前記ガスケット(10,11)が、エラストマーガスケット材料を含み、
各ガスケットのエラストマー材料が、それぞれの流体輸送層の外縁部(4,5)に含浸され、
前記ガスケットの各々の接触面(14,15)の少なくとも一部が、隆起リッジ微細構造化接触パターン(12,13)を有し、かつ前記隆起リッジ微細構造化接触パターン(12,13)が、3以下のリッジが、いずれか1つの接合点で出会う六角形パターン又は退化六角形パターンである、ガスケット付燃料電池膜電極アセンブリ。 - h)外周(22)を有し、前記アノード側ガスケット(10)の少なくとも一部と前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード面との間に位置決めされ、厚さが前記アノード側流体輸送層(2)の厚さの90%未満である剛性非エラストマーアノード側シム(20)と、
j)外周(23)を有し、前記カソード側ガスケット(11)の少なくとも一部と前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード面との間に位置決めされ、厚さが前記カソード側流体輸送層(3)の厚さの90%未満である剛性非エラストマーカソード側シム(21)と、
をさらに含む、請求項1に記載のガスケット付燃料電池膜電極アセンブリ。 - 前記ガスケットの各々の外周(22,23)が、前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)の外周(7)と同延である、請求項1又は2に記載のガスケット付燃料電池膜電極アセンブリ。
- a)外縁部(6)を備えたアノード面と、外縁部(6)を備えたカソード面と、外周(7)とを有するポリマー電解質膜と、
b)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード面の少なくとも一部と接触するアノード触媒材料層と、
c)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード面の少なくとも一部と接触するカソード触媒材料層と、
d)外縁部(4)を有し、前記アノード触媒材料層と接触し、前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在しないアノード側流体輸送層(2)と、
e)外縁部(5)を有し、前記カソード触媒材料層と接触し、前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在しないカソード側流体輸送層(3)と、
f)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在し、接触面(14)と、外周(16)とを有する、エラストマーガスケット材料を含むアノード側ガスケット(10)と、
g)前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード側の外縁部(6)にわたって延在し、接触面(15)と、外周(17)とを有する、エラストマーガスケット材料を含むカソード側ガスケット(11)と、
を含み、
各ガスケット(10,11)のエラストマー材料が、それぞれの流体輸送層の外縁部(4,5)に含浸され、
前記ガスケットの各々の接触面(14,15)の少なくとも一部が、隆起リッジ微細構造化接触パターン(12,13)を有し、かつ前記隆起リッジ微細構造化接触パターン(12,13)が、3以下のリッジが、いずれか1つの接合点で出会う六角形パターン又は退化六角形パターンである、ガスケット付燃料電池膜電極アセンブリを製造する方法であって、
i)プレスのプラテン間に、
1)アノード側流体輸送層(2)と、
2)アノード触媒材料層と、
3)外縁部(6)を備えたアノード面と、外縁部(6)を備えたカソード面とを有するポリマー電解質膜(1)と、
4)カソード触媒材料層と、
5)カソード側流体輸送層(3)と、を位置決めする工程と、
ii)未硬化のエラストマーガスケット材料を前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のアノード側の外縁部(6)に塗布する工程と、
iii)未硬化のエラストマーガスケット材料を前記ポリマー電解質膜(1)のカソード側の外縁部(6)に塗布する工程と、
iv)熱および圧力を加えて、同時に、
1)部分i)1)、i)2)、i)3)、i)4)、i)5)をともに結合し、
2)前記未硬化のエラストマーガスケット材料を各流体輸送層(2,3)の外縁部に含浸させ、
3)前記未硬化のエラストマーガスケット材料を実質的に硬化させて、アノード側およびカソード側ガスケット(10,11)を形成する工程と、
を含む方法。
