Description
内燃機関の排気通路に設けられ触媒を含んで構成される排気浄化装置と、
該排気浄化装置よりも上流側の排気通路に設けられた酸化機能を有する前段触媒と、
該前段触媒よりも上流側の排気通路に設けられ前記前段触媒および前記排気浄化装置に還元剤を供給するときに排気中に還元剤を添加する還元剤添加弁と、
前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を制御する排気流量制御手段と、を備え、
前記還元剤添加弁が、排気中に添加された還元剤の少なくとも一部が液体の状態で前記前段触媒に到達する位置に設置されており、
前記還元剤添加弁によって還元剤の添加が行われるときに、前記前段触媒に到達し前記前段触媒において気化した還元剤の少なくとも一部が逆流するように前記排気流量制御手段が前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を減少させることを特徴とする。
ここでは、本発明を車両駆動用のディーゼルエンジンに適用した場合を例に挙げて説明する。図1は、本実施例に係る内燃機関の吸排気系の概略構成を示す図である。
本実施例では、フィルタ5に捕集されたPMを除去すべくフィルタ再生制御が行われる。本実施例に係るフィルタ再生制御は、燃料添加弁6から燃料を添加し、それによって酸化触媒4およびフィルタ5に燃料を供給することで実現される。酸化触媒4に供給された燃料が該酸化触媒4において酸化されるとその酸化熱によってフィルタ5に流入する排気が昇温される。その結果、フィルタ5が昇温される。また、酸化触媒4において酸化されず該酸化触媒4を通過した燃料がフィルタ5に供給される。フィルタ5に供給された燃料がNOx触媒9において酸化されるとその酸化熱によってフィルタ5がさらに昇温される。燃料添加弁6から添加する燃料の量を制御することでフィルタ5の温度をPMの酸化が可能な温度まで昇温させることが出来、それによってフィルタ5に捕集されたPMを酸化させ除去することが出来る。
成された燃料の噴霧中に酸化触媒4の上流側端面が位置するように燃料添加弁6および酸化触媒4が設置される(図5において、斜線部は燃料の噴霧を表す。)。

Claims (8)
- 内燃機関の排気通路に設けられ触媒を含んで構成される排気浄化装置と、
該排気浄化装置よりも上流側の排気通路に設けられた酸化機能を有する前段触媒と、
該前段触媒よりも上流側の排気通路に設けられ前記前段触媒および前記排気浄化装置に還元剤を供給するときに排気中に還元剤を添加する還元剤添加弁と、
前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を制御する排気流量制御手段と、を備え、
前記還元剤添加弁が、排気中に添加された還元剤の少なくとも一部が液体の状態で前記前段触媒に到達する位置に設置されており、
前記還元剤添加弁によって還元剤の添加が行われるときに、前記前段触媒に到達し前記前段触媒において気化した還元剤の少なくとも一部が逆流するように前記排気流量制御手段が前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を減少させることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化システム。 - 前記還元剤添加弁によって還元剤の添加が行われるときに、前記排気流量制御手段が、前記前段触媒に到達した還元剤が前記前段触媒において気化して膨張するときの膨張速度よりも前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量が小さくなるように排気の流量を制御することを特徴とする請求項1記載の内燃機関の排気浄化システム。
- 前記還元剤添加弁が、前記排気浄化装置を昇温させるときに排気中に還元剤を添加することを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化システム。
- 前記排気浄化装置が吸蔵還元型NOx触媒を含んで構成されており、
前記還元剤添加弁が、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒に吸蔵されたNOxまたはSOxを放出および還元させるときに排気中に還元剤を添加することを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の内燃機関の排気浄化システム。 - 前記還元剤添加弁よりも上流側の前記排気通路に一端が接続され前記排気浄化装置よりも下流側の前記排気通路に他端が接続されたバイパス通路と、
該バイパス通路を流れる排気の流量を制御するバイパス制御弁と、をさらに備え、
前記排気流量制御手段が、前記バイパス制御弁によって前記バイパス通路を流れる排気の流量を増加させることで前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を減少させることを特徴と
する請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の内燃機関の排気浄化システム。 - 前記排気流量制御手段が、前記還元剤添加弁から還元剤が添加されるときに、前記バイパス制御弁によって前記バイパス通路を流れる排気の流量を一時的に増加させることで前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を減少させると共に、その直後は前記バイパス制御弁によって前記バイパス通路を流れる排気の流量を略零に制御することを特徴とする請求項5記載の内燃機関の排気浄化システム。
- 前記還元剤添加弁よりも上流側の前記排気通路に一端が接続され前記排気浄化装置よりも下流側の前記排気通路に他端が接続されたバイパス通路と、
該バイパス通路を流れる排気の流量を制御するバイパス制御弁と、をさらに備え、
前記排気流量制御手段が、前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を減少させるときは、前記前段触媒において気化して逆流した還元剤が前記排気通路における前記バイパス通路の一端との接続部分にまで到達しない程度に前記前段触媒に流入する排気の流量を制御することを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の内燃機関の排気浄化システム。 - 前記前段触媒が、その外周面と前記排気通路の内周面との間を排気が流れるように形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1から7のいずれかに記載の内燃機関の排気浄化システム。
