CW比=磁性%Co/wt%Co
式中、磁性%Coは磁性Coの質量パーセントであり、wt%Coは超硬合金中のCoの質量パーセントである。
前記TiCxNy層が、5〜15μm、好ましくは6〜13μm、最も好ましくは7〜13μmの厚さと、50〜390MPa、好ましくは50〜300MPaの引張応力のレベルを有し、
前記α−Al2O3層が、3〜12μm、好ましくは3.5〜8μm、最も好ましくは4〜8μmの厚さを有し、I(012)/I(024)≧1.3、好ましくは≧1.5のXRD回折強度比と、AFM技術により10個の無作為に選択された10μm×10μmの領域について測定されるすくい面上の少なくとも切屑の接触領域においてMRa≦0.12μm、好ましくは≦0.10μmの平均Ra値とを有する最外側層であり、かつ前記逃げ面上で、
前記TiCxNy層が500〜700MPaの引張応力を有し、
前記α−Al2O3層が、I(012)/I(024)<1.5のXRD回折強度比を有し、好ましくはその面上に異なる色をインサートに与える薄い0.1〜2μmのTiN、TiCxNy、ZrCxNy又はTiC層で被覆され、
又は、前記少なくとも1つのすくい面上及び前記少なくとも1つの逃げ面上で、
前記TiCxNy層が、5〜15μm、好ましくは6〜13μm、最も好ましくは7〜13μmの厚さと、50〜390MPa、好ましくは50〜300MPaの引張応力のレベルを有し、
前記α−Al2O3層が、3〜12μm、好ましくは3.5〜8μm、好ましくは4〜8μmの厚さを有し、I(012)/I(024)≧1.3、好ましくは≧1.5のXRD回折強度比を有し、すくい面上でAFM技術により10個の無作為に選択された10μm×10μmの領域について測定されるすくい面上の少なくとも切屑の接触領域においてMRa≦0.12μm、好ましくは≦0.10μmの平均Ra値を有する最外側層であり、かつ前記逃げ面上で、上部層が着色された耐熱塗料又は着色されたPVD層からなる。
A)超硬合金の切削インサートを、10wt%のCo、6.0wt%のTaC、2.1wt%のTiC、0.85wt%のTiC0.5N0.5、残余WCの組成を有する粉末混合物を調製し、40mbarアルゴンの不活性雰囲気において1450℃で1時間プレスして焼結することにより製造した。得られた基材は、立方晶炭窒化物相が枯渇した表面領域(22μm)を有していた。0.82のCW比を測定した。インサートは、通常のCVD法を用いて930℃でTiNの0.5μm厚さの層で被覆し、続いて処理ガスとしてTiCl4、H2、N2及びCH3CNを用いてMTCVD法により885℃の温度で以って9μmのTiCxNyで被覆した。同一の被覆サイクルの際のその後の処理工程において、約5μm厚さのTiCxOz層をTiCl4、CO及びH2を用いて1000℃で堆積し、次いで、Al2O3処理を2%のCO2、3.2%のHCl及び94.8%のH2の混合物で反応器を2分間洗浄して開始し、7μm厚さのα−Al2O3を堆積した。薄い約0.5μmのTiN層を上部に堆積した。堆積の際の処理条件は以下のとおりであった。

n=計算に用いた反射数、用いた(nkl)反射は(012)、(104)、(110)、(113)、(024)、(116)である。
例1の被覆インサートを上記の吹付け加工方法によって後処理した。インサートのすくい面を2.2barの吹付け加工圧力及び20秒の暴露時間で吹付け加工した。
例1に従って製造されたインサートを、工具に対して異なるタイプの要求をする切削作業において例2で言及したブラシ掛けしたインサートに対して試験した。
Claims (5)
- 少なくとも1つのすくい面と少なくとも1つの逃げ面を有するほぼ多角形又は円形のボディーを含む超硬合金の被覆された切削工具インサートであって、該インサートが、8.5〜11.5wt%のCoと、6〜10wt%の立方晶炭窒化物と、残余WCの組成であって、0.77〜0.90のCW比を有し、かつ立方晶炭窒化物相が枯渇した10〜35μmの厚さの表面領域を有し、前記インサートが、TiCxNyであって、式中、x≧0、y≧0及びx+y=1である少なくとも1つの層と、少なくともすくい面上の外側層であるα−Al2O3層とを含む10〜25μm厚さの被膜で少なくとも部分的に被覆され、かつ前記少なくとも1つのすくい面上で、
前記TiCxNy層が、5〜15μmの厚さと、50〜390MPaの引張応力のレベルを有し、
前記α−Al2O3層が、3〜12μmの厚さを有し、I(012)/I(024)≧1.3のXRD回折強度比と、AFM技術により10個の無作為に選択された10μm×10μmの領域について測定されるすくい面上の少なくとも切屑の接触領域においてMRa≦0.12μmの平均Ra値とを有する最外側層であり、かつ前記逃げ面上で、
前記TiCxNy層が500〜700MPaの引張応力を有し、
前記α−Al2O3層が、I(012)/I(024)<1.5のXRD回折強度比を有することを特徴とする、被覆された切削工具インサート。 - 前記TiCxNy層と前記α−Al2O3層の間にTiCxNyOzであって、式中、x≧0、z>0及びy≧0である薄い0.2〜2μmの結合層を有することを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の被覆された切削工具インサート。
- 前記α−Al2O3層が、組織係数TC(012)>1.3を有する012方向の組織を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1又は2に記載の被覆された切削工具インサート。
- 前記α−Al2O3層が、組織係数TC(110)>1.5を有する110方向の組織を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1〜3のいずれか1項に記載の被覆された切削工具インサート。
- 前記被膜が、Ti、Nb、Hf、V、Ta、Mo、Zr、Cr、W及びAlから選択される金属元素を有する金属の窒化物及び/又は炭化物及び/又は酸化物から構成され、合計の層厚さが5μmよりも小さい追加の層を含むことを特徴とする、請求項1〜4のいずれか1項に記載の被覆された切削工具インサート。
