Description
Claims (14)
- 複数の第1の素子を備えた第1のセルであって、前記第1の素子は第1の偏光を有する電磁波が反射されない非反射状態と第1の偏光を有する前記電磁波が反射される反射状態との間で制御可能である第1のセルと、
前記第1のセルに重畳する第2のセルであって、該第2のセルは複数の第2の素子を備え、前記第2の素子は第2の偏光を有する電磁波が反射されない非反射状態と第2の偏光を有する前記電磁波が反射される反射状態との間で制御可能である第2のセルとを備えた機器であって、
前記第1の偏光の方向が前記第2の偏光の方向と異なるように前記第1の素子および前記第2の素子が設計され、
前記第1のセルと前記第2のセルとの間にレンチキュラシートが配置され、且つ
前記レンチキュラシートと組み合わさって前記第1のセルおよび前記第2のセルは、同時に異なった画像を観察者の第1の眼および第2の眼に伝達するように配置され、
前記異なった画像は、観察された時に3D感覚を生じさせる斜視画像であることを特徴とする機器。 - 前記電磁波は、300nm〜800nmの波長を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の機器。
- 前記第1の偏光および前記第2の偏光は、互いに逆向きの円偏光であることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の機器。
- 前記第1のセルと前記第2のセルとの間に偏光交番素子が配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の機器。
- 前記偏光交番素子は、半波長板であることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の機器。
- 前記第1のセルおよび前記第2のセルは、互いに所定距離だけ離れていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の機器。
- 前記第1の電磁波および前記第2の電磁波は、異なる波長を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の機器。
- 前記第1のセルおよび前記第2のセルの少なくとも1つは、コレステリックテクスチャ液晶(CTLC)で形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の機器。
- 請求項1に記載された機器を備えた反射型ディスプレイ。
- 請求項9に記載された反射型ディスプレイを備えた携帯型装置。
- 前記装置は、携帯型電話機、ポータブルコンピュータ、電子カレンダー、電子ブック、テレビジョンセットまたはビデオゲームコントローラのうちの1つであることを特徴とする請求項10に記載された携帯型装置。
- 請求項11による反射型ディスプレイにおいて2つの異なる画像を提示する方法であって、
当該方法は、
前記の第1のセルの複数の第1の素子を操作することで第1の画像の形状で電磁波を反射するステップであって、前記第1の画像は前記第1の偏光を有する電磁波で構成される、ステップと、
前記の第2のセルの複数の第2の素子を操作することで、前記第1の画像とは異なる第2の画像の形状で電磁波を反射するステップであって、前記第2の画像は前記第2の偏光を有する電磁波で構成される、ステップと、
観察者の第1の眼および第2の眼に前記第1および第2の画像を異なる方向へ伝達するように前記第1および第2のセルを配置するステップ、
を具備し、
前記異なる画像は、観察したときに3D感覚を生じさせる斜視画像である、
ことを特徴とする方法。 - 前記反射型ディスプレイ内の前記機器は、少なくとも第3のセルをさらに備え、
該第3のセルは複数の第3の素子を備え、
前記第3の素子は第3の偏光を有する電磁波が反射されない非反射状態と前記電磁波が反射される反射状態との間で制御可能であり、
当該方法は、前記第3の素子を操作することで第3の画像の形状で電磁波を反射するステップであって、前記第3の画像は第3の偏光を有する電磁波で構成されるステップをさらに具備することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の方法。 - 少なくとも2つの分離したフィルタ素子を設けるステップであって、前記2つのフィルタ素子の第1のフィルタ素子は、前記第1の偏光を有する電磁波を透過させることができ、前記第2の偏光を有する電磁波を透過させることができず、前記2つのフィルタ素子の第2のフィルタ素子は、前記第2の偏光を有する電磁波を透過させることができ、前記第1の偏光を有する電磁波を透過させることができないステップと、
前記反射型ディスプレイと前記第1の素子によって生成された第1の画像の任意の意図された受信者との間に前記第1のフィルタを配置するステップと、
前記反射型ディスプレイと前記第2の素子によって生成された第2の画像の任意の意図された受信者との間に前記第2のフィルタを配置するステップとを具備したことを特徴とする請求項12または請求項13に記載の方法。
