Description
本発明者は、このような従来技術の有する問題点を解決することのできる構成を種々検討した結果、遮光のためにはブラックマトリクスは必須であるが、このブラックマトリクスは必ずしも共通電極と電気的に接続されている必要はないことから、金属製の支持枠近傍のブラックマトリクスを他の導電性部材と電気的に分離させれば、この部分のブラックマトリクスが金属製の支持枠と接触しても短絡や電蝕の問題は生じないことを見出し、本発明を完成するに至ったのである。

Claims (6)
- 一方の基板の表示領域に共通電極を備え、前記表示領域の周囲に導電性かつ遮光用のブラックマトリクスを備えた液晶表示パネルと、
バックライトと、
前記液晶表示パネルの周囲を固定する金属製支持枠と、を備え、
電気的絶縁性を確保して前記基板に塗布されるシール材が内周側に位置するようにして前記ブラックマトリクスを外周側と内周側とに複数個に分割し、前記外周側のブラックマトリクスを前記内周側のブラックマトリクス及び前記共通電極と電気的に分離した浮島状とした液晶表示装置。 - 前記バックライトは、前記液晶表示パネルの一辺に平行に設けられたサイドライト型バックライト光源を備え、
前記外周側のブラックマトリクスを前記液晶表示パネルの前記バックライト光源に対向する側に設けた請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記サイドライト型バックライト光源は、1個ないしは複数個が直線配置されたLEDからなる請求項2記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記バックライト光源を備える前記液晶表示パネルの一辺と反対側の一辺に、前記基板の端部に平行に伸びる帯状の浮島状ブラックマトリクスを設けた請求項2又は請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記バックライトは、「コ」字状の冷陰極線管を使用したサイドライト型のバックライト光源を備え、
前記基板の4辺のうち「コ」字の開口部に対応する辺とその両側の辺の計3辺に、それぞれ基板の端部に平行に伸びる帯状の浮島状ブラックマトリクスを設けた請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記バックライト光源を備える前記液晶表示パネルの一辺と反対側の一辺の両端となる2箇所の角部に沿ってL字状の浮島状ブラックマトリクスを設けた請求項4又は請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
