Description
珪灰石ボードのための標準の商業的製法(standard commercial formulation)に基づいて、スラリーを調製した。このスラリーを、さらに、以下のように処理した。
(a)第1のケースにおいては、Baを含まない化合物を添加した。
(b)第2のケースにおいては、重量で7%の固体のBaO(固体の粉体として)を添加した。
(c)第3のケースにおいては、重量で7%の固体のBaSO4(固体の粉体として)を添加した。
さらに、試料を、合金に曝した後、X線回折法を用いて検査した。耐熱材の大部分は、鉱物性珪灰石であることが見出された。しかし、BaSO4を添加したケースでは、変質した珪灰石構造であると確信される別のX線のピークが出現した。
市販のケイ酸カルシウム耐熱ボード(例えば、ピロテック社によるN−17(登録商標))を機械加工して、アルミニウム鋳造型に挿入するためのトランジションプレートを作成した。このプレート(重量はほぼ150g)を、下記のように処理した。
(a)第1のケースにおいては、追加の処理は行わなかった(Baの添加なし)。
(b)第2のケースにおいては、一部分を、5分間、温水(50℃)中に重量で10%のBa(OH)2を含む溶液に浸漬した。この後、30分間、230℃の温度でもって空気中で乾燥させた。
(c)第3のケースにおいては、プレートの一部分を(b)と同様に処理した後、5分間、室温で硫酸(重量で10%のH2SO4)中に浸漬した。この後、30分間、230℃の温度でもって空気中で乾燥させた。
Claims (7)
- シリカを含有する多孔性の耐熱材を、溶融したアルミニウム又はマグネシウムとの反応に対して安定させる方法であって、
(a)グループIIアルカリ土類の酸化物又は水酸化物の水溶液を形成するステップと、
(b)上記耐熱材を上記水溶液で含浸するステップと、
(c)含浸された耐熱材を、空気中で乾燥させるステップとを含むことを特徴とする方法。 - 上記グループIIアルカリ土類を、バリウム及びストロンチウムから選択することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 上記ステップ(c)の後で実行される、上記耐熱材を硫酸溶液で含浸するステップと、上記耐熱材を空気中で乾燥させるステップとをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 上記多孔性の耐熱材が、焼成された耐熱材であることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の方法。
- 上記多孔性の耐熱材が、焼成されていない耐熱材であることを特徴とする請求項1〜3のいずれか1つに記載の方法。
- 上記水溶液を、最低でも30℃の温度で形成することを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1つに記載の方法。
- 上記水溶液を、最低でも40℃の温度で形成することを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれか1つに記載の方法。
