Description
1.発明の分野
一般に、本発明の分野は、ディジタル・ビデオ制御に関係する。特に、本発明の分野は、ディジタル・フォーマットにおけるピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ(子画面)機能に関係する。
インタラクティブ(対話的)マルチメディアは、ユーザが利用可能な多種多様なマルチメディア・リソースを調べ上げることによって、主題をより十分に鑑賞することをもたらす。インタラクティブ・マルチメディアは、テキスト(文字列)、オーディオ、グラフィック、静止画像、及び動画を統合して単一のコンピュータ制御のマルチメディア製品にすることを含む。インタラクティブ・マルチメディアへの望みは、これらのプログラム用のデータ記憶の増加と共に成長してきた。
プログラムによるウィンドウ制御のシステム及び方法は、複数のメディア・ストリームを同時に同じスクリーン上に表示する能力を有するビデオ再生装置を提供する。このビデオ再生装置は、DVDプレーヤー、高解像度ビデオプレーヤー、PC(パーソナル・コンピュータ)のDVD−ROM、等を含むが、これらに限定されない。メディア・ストリームの特性は、ユーザ入力によってもプログラム的手段によっても動的かつ独立的に制御することができる。
以下、本発明の実施例について図面を参照しながら説明する。
本発明のシステム及び方法は、ピクチャ−イン−ピクチャ機能をメディア・プレーヤーに加える。特に、本発明のシステム及び方法は、これらに限定されないが、DVDプレーヤー、高解像度ビデオプレーヤー、ソフトウェアDVD−ROMプレーヤー、ハードディスク・ドライブ・ベースのプレーヤー、光ディスクプレーヤー、パーソナル・コンピュータ、または当業者にとって既知の他のあらゆるメディア・プレーヤーを含むビデオプレーヤーに適応される。
Claims (15)
- 第1ビデオ・ストリームと第2ビデオ・ストリームとのピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示用のメディア再生装置において、
前記第1ビデオ・ストリーム及び前記第2ビデオ・ストリームを受信するように構成されたメディア・インタフェースであって、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームが第1データに関連し、前記第2ビデオ・ストリームが第2データに関連する少なくとも1つのメディア・インタフェースと;
前記第1データ及び前記第2データを得るように構成され、さらに、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとの間の相対時間オフセットを示す前記第1データ及び前記第2データを用いて、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとを同期させて、前記第1ビデオストリーム及び前記第2ビデオストリームをピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示するように構成され、さらに、前記第1ビデオストリーム及び前記第2ビデオストリームのピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示の期間中に、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとの間の前記相対時間オフセットを維持するように構成されたプロセッサと
を具えていることを特徴とするメディア再生装置。 - 前記第1ビデオ・ストリームが前記第1データを含み、前記第2ビデオ・ストリームが前記第2データを含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のメディア再生装置。
- 前記ピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示を構成するための制御データが、前記メディア再生装置内のファイル中に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のメディア再生装置。
- 前記ピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示を構成するための制御データが、前記メディア再生装置外の情報源中に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のメディア再生装置。
- 前記第1データ及び前記第2データがメタデータであることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のメディア再生装置。
- 前記プロセッサがさらに、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとを同期を維持する速度で進行させることによって、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとを同期させるように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のメディア再生装置。
- 前記ピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示を構成するための制御データが、前記第2ビデオ・ストリーム中に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のメディア再生装置。
- 前記プロセッサが、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとの間の前記相対時間オフセットを決定するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載のメディア再生装置。
- メディア再生装置によって使用される方法であって、第1ビデオ・ストリームと第2ビデオ・ストリームとのピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示を行う方法において、
前記第1ビデオ・ストリームを受信するステップであって、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームが第1データに関連するステップと;
前記第2ビデオ・ストリームを受信するステップであって、前記第2ビデオ・ストリームが第2データに関連するステップと;
前記第1データ及び前記第2データを得るステップと;
前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとの間の相対時間オフセットを示す前記第1データ及び前記第2データを用いて、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとを同期させて、前記第1ビデオストリーム及び前記第2ビデオストリームをピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示するステップと;
前記ピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示の期間中に、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとの間の前記相対時間オフセットを維持するステップと
を具えていることを特徴とするビデオ・ストリームのピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示方法。 - 前記第1ビデオ・ストリームが前記第1データを含み、前記第2ビデオ・ストリームが前記第2データを含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記ピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示を構成するための制御データが、前記メディア再生装置内のファイル中に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記ピクチャ・イン・ピクチャ表示を構成するための制御データが、前記メディア再生装置外の情報源中に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記第1データ及び前記第2データがメタデータであることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとを同期させるステップが、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとを同期を維持する速度で進行させることを含むことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- さらに、前記第1ビデオ・ストリームと前記第2ビデオ・ストリームとの間の前記相対時間オフセットを決定するステップを具えていることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
