透過光量と正面輝度は低下するが、視野角は一旦大きくなり、その後低下している。このように、正面輝度を広くする場合には、曲率半径を小さくすることが望ましい。

Claims (12)
- 一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板を挟持する一対の偏光板と、
前記一対の基板で挟持された液晶層と、
画素内に形成され、前記液晶層を透過する光量を制限する透過開口部と、
前記一対の基板の一方基板に対して前記液晶層が配置された側と反対側に形成され、前記透過開口部に光を集光する集光素子と、
前記集光素子に照射する光を発する面発光素子と、を有し、
前記面発光素子から出射される光が前記面発光素子の垂線に対して角度を持って出射され、
前記面発光素子から出射される光が拡がり角を持ち、
前記面発光素子の垂線に対する光出射角度が1°以上10°以下であり、
前記面発光素子の光出射方向に対応して、前記透過開口部を透過する光量を増加するように前記集光素子に対して前記透過開口部の相対位置をずらし、
前記面発光素子の垂線に対する光出射角度をθ、前記一対の基板のうち前記面発光素子側に配置された一方の基板の厚さをT、前記一方の基板の屈折率をn2とし、前記透過開口部の中心と前記集光素子の中心のずれ量をδとして
- 請求項1記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記集光素子に垂直に平行光を入射した場合に集光スポット径が最小となる最良集光位置よりも前記集光素子側に前記透過開口部を設けたことを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1から3記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記面発光素子の垂線に対する光出射角度が2°以上8°以下であることを特徴する液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1から4記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記面発光素子は、プリズムの底角が異なる複数のプリズムシートであることを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1から5記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記面発光素子から出射される光出射角度に比べて、前記液晶表示素子から出射される光出射角度が小さいことを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1から6記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記集光素子に垂直に平行光を入射した場合に集光スポット径が最小となる最良集光位置から集光素子まで距離をf′としたときに、
T/f′が0.75以上0.8以下であり、
T/f′が1の場合に比べて視野角が広いことを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1から7記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記集光素子がレンチキュラレンズであることを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1から7記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記集光素子が前記一対の偏光板の一方の偏光板上に形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項1から9記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記透過開口部と前記集光素子との間に配置された光拡散層を有することを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項10記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記光拡散層に前記透過開口部に対応して光拡散性のない光拡散層開口部を有し、
前記透過開口部よりも前記光拡散層開口部が大きいことを特徴とする液晶表示素子。 - 請求項11記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記集光素子が、前記光拡散層と接して形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示素子。
