Description
この評価試験では、全長Aが55mm、胴部における軸孔の内径Cが3mmで、後端側胴部の外径E、拡径部の軸線方向の長さD、および拡径部の内径Bがそれぞれ異なる15種類の絶縁碍子のサンプルを各種類ごとに20本ずつ作製し、それぞれについて平均偏肉量(mm)と、これを組み付けたスパークプラグにおける横飛火の発生の有無とを調べた。

Claims (2)
- 自身の先端側に火花放電のための電極を形成する軸状の中心電極と、前記中心電極の軸線方向に延びる軸孔を有し、その軸孔内の先端側で前記中心電極を保持する絶縁碍子と、前記絶縁碍子の胴部の周囲を取り囲み、前記絶縁碍子を保持する主体金具と、前記絶縁碍子の軸孔内の後端側で、前記絶縁碍子の後端より一部を露出した状態で保持される端子金具とを備えたスパークプラグであって、
前記絶縁碍子は、
軸線方向における長さが55mm以上であり、
前記胴部のうち最大外径を有する部位よりも後端側の部位である後端側胴部の外径が9.5mm以下であり、
前記軸孔の内径で、前記後端側胴部の外径の38%以上の径を有する部位が、前記軸孔の後端から6mm以上の長さを有し、それよりも先端側が、前記後端側胴部内において前記後端側胴部の外径の38%未満に縮径されたことを特徴とするスパークプラグ。 - 軸線方向に延びる軸孔を有し、その軸孔内の先端側で中心電極を保持し、前記軸孔内の後端側で端子金具を保持するスパークプラグの絶縁碍子の製造方法であって、
前記絶縁碍子は、
原料粉末が成形型に充填され外部から圧力を受けて圧粉体を形成する加圧工程と、
前記圧粉体が研削され成形体を形成する研削工程と、
前記成形体が焼成される焼成工程と
を経て、軸線方向における長さが55mm以上、かつ、その胴部のうち最大外径を有する部位よりも後端側の部位である後端側胴部の外径が9.5mm以下に形成されてなり、
前記研削工程は、
前記圧粉体の軸孔に挿通した場合に、前記焼成工程後の前記絶縁碍子の後端側胴部の外径の38%以上の外径を有する部位が前記圧粉体の軸孔の後端から6mm以上の長さを有し、それよりも先端側が、前記後端側胴部内において前記後端側胴部の外径の38%未満に縮径された支持ピンを、前記圧粉体の軸孔に挿通することによって前記圧粉体を支持し、前記圧粉体の外周の研削を行うことを特徴とするスパークプラグの絶縁碍子の製造方法。
