本出願は、本明細書においてその全内容が引用により組み込まれる2003年3月14日出願の米国特許仮出願第60/454,579号の恩典を主張するものである。
一般的に、本発明は、サンプル流体の精製に関する。より詳細には、本発明は、マイクロ流体無膜交換装置を用いて成分を選択的に除去することによってサンプル流体(例えば、血液流体)を精製することに関する。
以上を鑑みて、治療時間が延長され(結果として低流量)、患者が病院又は診療所の近くに留まる必要がない血液を処理するための技術を提供することが望ましいと考えられる。更に、望ましくない生化学反応の誘発を消失(又は、少なくとも減少)させ、血液−媒体界面に膜汚れが起こらない、血液を処理するための技術を提供することも望ましいであろう。
本発明の更に別の特徴、その性質、及び様々な利点は、全体を通して同じ参照符号が同じ部分を意味する添付の図面と共に以下の詳細説明を考察すると更に明らかになるであろう。
上述の特定の製造工程は、説明のみのためであることは理解されるものとする。例えば、無膜分離器300の寸法は、本発明の精神から逸脱することなく変更することができる。更に、例えば、本発明は、銅箔を用いることに限定されず、説明していない他の製造工程を用いることができることも理解されるものとする。
図4に示すように、無膜分離器400は、本発明の原理による血漿分離交換法装置として用いることができる。例えば、図4に示すように、入口チャンネル406を通って抽出チャンネル402に流入する血液からの血漿は、すくい取られて被覆流体と共に出口チャンネル410及び414を通って流出する。このすくい取り工程は、図7に関して以下でより詳細に説明される。
本発明の原理によれば、処理を行う血液は、無膜分離器602に供給(及びそれから除去)される。一方、2次分離器604により再循環される被覆流体も無膜分離器602に供給(及びそれから除去)される。これも図6に示すように、2次分離器604が溶質を第2の流体(例えば、透析液)に移行する場合は常に、それぞれ新鮮な透析液流及び廃棄透析液流を供給するために、新鮮な透析液連結部606及び廃棄透析液連結部608を用いることができる。また、破線610で表されるように、新鮮な流体を直接血液流に分岐することが可能である(しかし必須ではない)ことも理解されるであろう。一般的に、図6により、細胞を移行させることなく関連の溶質を被覆流体と平衡にする無膜分離器602の役割が明確になる。
本発明の原理によれば、システム700には、血液供給源720と、複数のポンプ722、724、及び726(手動又は以下に記載の検出及び調節技術を用いることなどによる自動作動の何れかとすることができる)も含まれる。図7に示すように、血液供給源720は、処理する血液を血液入口チャンネル710経由で無膜分離器702に供給する。血液供給源720は、例えば、生きているヒト又は他の動物とすることができ、又は血液リザーバとすることができることは理解されるであろう。一方、血液回収ポンプ722は、血液を血液出口チャンネル716経由で分離器702から除去することを担っている。
本発明によれば、対向流の様式で所定の望ましい接触面積を更に分割して各々他の単位に連結されたn個のユニットにすることを用いて、そのユニット内の流れが並流であっても、上に挙げた式により抽出効率を上げることができる。従って、例えば、1つの面積を4つのユニットに分け、各抽出効率が50%である場合には、この構成単位の効率は、0.8すなわち80%になると考えられる。
当業者はまた、本発明を制限的ではなく説明目的で示された上述の実施形態以外で実施することができ、本発明が特許請求の範囲によってのみ制限されることを認めるであろう。

Claims (15)
- 無膜交換システムであって、
無膜交換装置、
を含み、
前記無膜交換装置は、
第1及び第2の被覆流体入口チャンネルを含み、被覆流体は、血液と成分を交換するための非血液流体であり、
血液流体入口及び出口チャンネル、
第1及び第2の被覆流体出口チャンネル、及び
前記第1及び第2の被覆流体入口及び出口チャンネルと前記血液流体入口及び出口チャンネルとに連結されたマイクロ流体抽出チャンネル、
を更に含み、
第1の被覆流体、血液流体、及び第2の被覆流体の層流が、前記マイクロ流体抽出チャンネル内部に順番に確立され、該血液流体の成分の少なくとも一部を含む再循環流体は、前記第1及び第2の被覆流体出口チャンネルを通って前記無膜交換装置から流出し、
前記第1及び第2の被覆流体入口と出口チャンネルとの間に連結され、前記第1及び第2の被覆流体出口チャンネルから再循環流体を受け取り、この受け取られた再循環流体から低分子及び水を除去し、更に、高分子を前記第1及び第2の被覆流体入口チャンネルに戻す2次処理装置、
を更に含むことを特徴とする無膜交換システム。 - 前記2次処理装置は、膜を通して流すことにより、再循環流体の一部及び低分子を除去し、且つ、高分子を前記膜で再循環流体に保持することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記第1及び第2の被覆流体は、前記血液流体と前記マイクロ流体抽出チャンネルの表面との間の接触を実質的に制限することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記2次処理装置は、膜装置であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記2次処理装置は、限外濾過、吸着、化学反応及び沈殿のうちのいずれかの分離原理を使用することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記マイクロ流体抽出チャンネルの前記被覆流体の流れを制御するための第1のポンプと、
前記マイクロ流体抽出チャンネルの前記血液流体の流れを制御するための第2のポンプと、
を更に含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。 - 前記第1の被覆流体と前記血液流体の間の界面は、該第1の被覆流体及び該血液流体の層流の速度を調節することにより変化することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 粘性剤を貯蔵するためのリザーバを更に含み、
前記粘性剤は、前記第1及び第2の被覆流体の粘性を変化させるために該第1及び第2の被覆流体と混合される、
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。 - 前記無膜交換装置を出る時に前記再循環流体内の指定された血液流体成分の存在を検出するための検出器を更に含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記検出器は、光検出器を有することを特徴とする請求項9に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記マイクロ流体抽出チャンネルの前記被覆流体の流れを制御するための第1のポンプが、該被覆流体内の望ましくない血液流体成分の前記検出された存在に基づいて調節されることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記第1の被覆流体、前記血液流体、及び前記第2の被覆流体の層流の速度は、該第1及び第2の被覆流体内の指定された血液流体成分の検出された存在に基づいて調節されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 前記第1及び第2の被覆流体は、高浸透圧溶液、グルコース含量が高い溶液、又は多価電解質浸透性薬剤のうちの少なくとも1つから成ることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- マイクロ流体抽出チャンネルは、幅対高さ比が、少なくとも10であり、幅及び高さは流れ方向に垂直であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
- 血液流体は血液の血漿であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の無膜交換システム。
