Description
図1は、本発明を内燃機関としてのディーゼルエンジン1に適用した一形態を示している。エンジン1は車両に走行用動力源として搭載されるもので、そのシリンダ2には吸気通路3及び排気通路4が接続され、吸気通路3には吸気濾過用のエアフィルタ5、ターボチャージャ6のコンプレッサ6a、吸気量調節用の絞り弁7が、排気通路4にはターボチャージャ6のタービン6bがそれぞれ設けられている。排気通路4のタービン6bよりも下流側には排気浄化手段としての吸蔵還元型NOx触媒(以下、触媒と略称する。)8を含んだ排気浄化ユニット9と、その触媒8の上流に還元剤としての燃料を添加する燃料添加手段としての燃料添加弁10とが設けられている。排気通路4と吸気通路3とはEGR通路11で接続され、EGR通路11にはEGRクーラ12及びEGR弁13が設けられている。
次に図12〜14を参照して本発明の第2の形態を説明する。この形態は、燃料添加時期制御の内容のみ相違し、他の構成は第1の形態と同一である。従って、エンジン1については図1が参照される。図12は、第1の形態の図4に対応する燃料添加時期制御ルーチンを示したフローチャートであり、図13は図12に続くフローチャートである。なお、第2の形態においても第1の形態と同様に図5の燃料添加実行ルーチンが図12の制御ルーチンと併行して適宜の周期で繰り返し実行される。

Claims (11)
- 内燃機関の排気を浄化する排気浄化手段と、前記排気浄化手段の上流から燃料を添加する燃料添加手段と、を備えた内燃機関の排気浄化装置に適用され、前記排気浄化手段を目標温度に制御すべく前記燃料添加手段から燃料を添加する添加期間と燃料添加を止める休止期間とを組み合わせた周期が繰り返され、かつ各周期において前記休止期間が前記添加期間を挟んで分割されるように前記燃料添加手段を操作する燃料添加制御方法であって、
前記添加期間の前に設けられる休止期間である添加前休止期間の長さが前記周期の始点における前記排気浄化手段の温度に応じて変更されるように前記燃料添加手段を操作することを特徴とする排気浄化装置用の燃料添加制御方法。 - 前記周期の始点における前記排気浄化手段の温度が低いほど前記添加前休止期間の長さが短くなるように前記燃料添加手段を操作することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の燃料添加制御方法。
- 内燃機関の排気通路に設けられた吸蔵還元型NOx触媒と、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の上流から燃料を添加する燃料添加手段と、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度を目標温度に制御すべく前記燃料添加手段から燃料を添加する添加期間と燃料添加を止める休止期間とを組み合わせた周期が繰り返され、かつ各周期において前記休止期間が前記添加期間を挟んで分割されるように前記燃料添加手段を操作する添加制御手段と、を備え、
前記添加制御手段は、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒を前記目標温度に制御するために必要な燃料添加量を算出する温度要求添加量算出手段と、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒における空燃比を所定期間に亘って目標空燃比に維持するために必要な燃料添加量を算出する予測添加量算出手段と、前記温度要求添加量算出手段及び前記予測添加量算出手段のそれぞれが算出した添加量に基づいて前記周期の長さを算出し、得られた周期の長さから前記所定期間を前記添加期間として差し引くことにより前記周期における休止期間の長さを算出する期間算出手段と、前記期間算出手段により算出された休止期間の長さと前記周期の始点における前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度とに基づいて前記添加期間の前に設けられる休止期間である添加前休止期間の長さを算出する添加前休止期間算出手段と、前記添加前休止期間算出手段により算出された長さの添加前休止期間が前記添加期間の前に設けられるように前記燃料添加手段からの燃料添加の可否を制御する添加時期制御手段と、を備えていることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記添加前休止期間算出手段は、前記周期の始点における前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度が低いほど前記添加前休止期間の長さを短く算出することを特徴とする請求項3に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記添加前休止期間算出手段は、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒が劣化するほど前記添加前休止期間の長さが短くなるように補正する劣化度補正手段を備えていることを特徴とする請求項3又は4に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記添加前休止期間算出手段は、前記周期の始点における前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度と前記周期の始点における前記内燃機関の排気ガス温度との温度差に基づいて前記添加前休止期間の長さを算出することを特徴とする請求項3〜5のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記添加前休止期間算出手段は、前記添加期間が長いほど前記添加前休止期間が長くなるように前記添加前休止期間の長さを補正する添加期間補正手段を備えていることを特徴とする請求項3〜6のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記添加時期制御手段は、前記添加前休止期間中における前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度が予め設定した所定の下限温度以下になった場合、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度が前記所定の下限温度以下になった時点から前記添加期間を開始すべく前記燃料添加手段から燃料を添加することを特徴とする請求項3〜7のいずれか一項に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記添加制御手段は、前記周期の始点から前記添加前休止期間中に前記排気浄化手段の温度が前記所定の下限温度以下になった時点までの時間と前記添加前休止期間算出手段により算出された添加前休止期間の長さとの比に基づいて前記添加期間の長さを補正する添加期間長さ補正手段をさらに備えていることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記添加時期制御手段は、前記添加期間長さ補正手段により補正された後の添加期間の長さが予め設定した所定の下限値以下の場合、前記添加前休止期間中に前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度が前記所定の下限温度以下になっても前記燃料添加手段からの燃料の添加を禁止して前記添加前休止期間を継続させることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
- 前記添加制御手段は、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒から硫黄酸化物を放出させるS再生処理が要求された場合に前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度を目標温度に制御し、
前記添加時期制御手段は、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒のうち排気流れの上流側の部分である触媒上流部のS再生処理を行う必要があり、かつ前記添加前休止期間中における前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度が前記所定の下限温度以下になった場合に、前記吸蔵還元型NOx触媒の温度が前記所定の下限温度以下になった時点から前記添加期間を開始すべく前記燃料添加手段から燃料を添加することを特徴とする請求項8に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
