Description
(1)炉下部内に充填したコークスベッド上に、炉頂部の上方から、薄板の鉄屑を50質量%以上含有する鉄源とコークスを、交互に、層状に装入し、炉下部の羽口から送風して、鉄源を溶解する竪型炉の操業方法において、
(a)原料装入バケット内の1チャージにつき、前記鉄源における前記薄板の鉄屑を、分割後の薄板の鉄屑の鉄源全量に対する比率が、何れも50質量%以下となるように、2分割し、
(b)該分割した薄板の鉄屑と薄板の鉄屑との間に、少なくとも、厚板の鉄屑、鉄屑を除く鉄源、又は、コークスのうちのいずれかの原料を挿入し、その後、
(c)原料装入バケットを介して、上記分割した薄板の鉄屑と薄板の鉄屑との間に、少なくとも、厚板の鉄屑、鉄屑を除く鉄源、又は、コークスの何れかの原料を挿入してなる鉄源と、コークスを、交互に、層状に、炉内に装入することを特徴とする竪型炉の操業方法。
(2)前記薄板の鉄屑の最大板厚が10mm以下であり、かつ、最大長さが150mm以下であることを特徴とする上記(1)に記載の竪型炉の操業方法。
(3)前記薄板の鉄屑のC含有量が0.5質量%以下であることを特徴とする上記(1)又は(2)に記載の竪型炉の操業方法。
本発明者らの検討によれば、最大板厚が10mm以下であり、かつ、最大長さが150mm以下の薄板の鉄屑が鉄源中に多く含有されている場合に、この薄板の鉄屑が、還元溶融領域における炉高方向の高い位置で停滞し、急速に溶解を開始し、かつ、冷却凝固する場合があり、このため、地金の付着物が炉壁に生成し、成長し易くなる。
本発明者らの検討によれば、C含有量が0.5質量%以下の薄板の鉄屑が鉄源中に多く含有されている場合に、この薄板の鉄屑が、還元溶融領域における炉高方向の高い位置で、溶解し、凝固して、炉壁に、地金の付着物が生成した後に、原燃料の棚吊りが発生し易くなる。
本発明者らの検討によれば、全鉄源に対する比率で、薄板の鉄屑を50%以上含有する鉄源を、上記した竪型炉の操業方法で溶解する場合には、鉄源の還元及び溶解が行われる還元溶融領域(コークスベッド20の表面から、上方に、約1〜2.5m程度の炉高さ方向範囲〔バケット9内に収容された原燃料の約1〜2.5チャージに相当する〕)における高い位置で、薄板の鉄屑が停滞し、急速に溶融、凝固して、炉壁に、地金の付着物が生成し、地金の付着物表面に、さらに、他の薄板の鉄屑が停滞し、固相拡散などにより、地金の付着物が急速に成長し易くなる。
本発明は、薄板の鉄屑を多量に含有する鉄源を、上記の竪型炉において溶解する際、原料装入バケット内の1チャージにつき、薄板の鉄屑を、分割後の薄板の鉄源全量に対する比率が何れも50質量%以下となるように、2分割し、この分割した薄板の鉄屑と薄板の鉄屑との間に、少なくとも、厚板の鉄屑、鉄屑を除く鉄源、又は、コークスのうちのいずれかの原料を挿入し、その後、原料装入バケットを介して、分割した薄板の鉄屑と、厚板の鉄屑、鉄屑を除く鉄源、又は、コークスの何れかを、交互に、層状に、炉内に装入することを特徴とする。
また、上記の薄板の鉄屑の停滞、地金の付着物の生成及び成長を抑制する効果を十分に得るためには、薄板の鉄屑原料を分割する際に、装入バケット内の1チャージにつき、分割後の薄板の鉄屑の鉄源全量に対する比率を、何れも、50質量%以下となるようにする必要がある。
図1に示す竪型炉に、表1に示す原燃料を装入し、表2に示す装入条件で、7日間の操業を継続した場合において、炉頂ガス温度の最高値(℃)、送風圧の最低値(kPa)、休風回数(回)を測定した。なお、操業中、炉頂ガス温度の最高値が600℃以上になった場合には、休風、即ち、生産の一時停止を行った。

Claims (3)
- 炉下部内に充填したコークスベッド上に、炉頂部の上方から、薄板の鉄屑を50質量%以上含有する鉄源とコークスを、交互に、層状に装入し、炉下部の羽口から送風して、鉄源を溶解する竪型炉の操業方法において、
(a)原料装入バケット内の1チャージにつき、前記鉄源における前記薄板の鉄屑を、分割後の薄板の鉄屑の鉄源全量に対する比率が、何れも50質量%以下となるように、2分割し、
(b)該分割した薄板の鉄屑と薄板の鉄屑との間に、少なくとも、厚板の鉄屑、鉄屑を除く鉄源、又は、コークスのうちのいずれかの原料を挿入し、その後、
(c)原料装入バケットを介して、上記分割した薄板の鉄屑と薄板の鉄屑との間に、少なくとも、厚板の鉄屑、鉄屑を除く鉄源、又は、コークスの何れかの原料を挿入してなる鉄源と、コークスを、交互に、層状に、炉内に装入することを特徴とする竪型炉の操業方法。 - 前記薄板の鉄屑の最大板厚が10mm以下であり、かつ、最大長さが150mm以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の竪型炉の操業方法。
- 前記薄板の鉄屑のC含有量が0.5質量%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の竪型炉の操業方法。
