Description
実施の形態1.
図1はこの発明の一実施の形態による液晶パネルの製造方法のセル工程を説明するための断面図である。基板1と対向基板2からなる一対の基板は、一方が画素領域に表示画像制御を行うTFT(Thin Film Transistor)がアレイ状に形成(図示省略)されたアレイ基板、他方が画素領域にカラーフィルタが形成(図示省略)されたカラーフィルタ基板からなり、どちらがどちらであってもよい。
図2はこの発明の別の実施の形態による液晶パネルの製造方法のセル工程を説明するための断面図である。図2において、図1で示したものと同一もしくは相当部分は同一符号で示す。この実施の形態においても、基板1と対向基板2からなる一対の基板は、一方が画素領域に表示画像制御を行うTFT(Thin Film Transistor)がアレイ状に形成(図示省略)されたアレイ基板、他方が画素領域にカラーフィルタが形成(図示省略)されたカラーフィルタ基板からなり、どちらがどちらであってもよい。
Claims (5)
- 液晶表示装置の液晶パネルの製造方法であって、その製造過程のセル工程において、
一対の基板の一方の基板に、基板中央の画素領域の外側の基板の周縁部全周に渡って延びる液晶漏れ防止用の第1の構造物を形成する工程と、
前記第1の構造物に沿って第1の構造物を上から覆うようにシール材を形成する工程と、
一対の基板の他方の基板に、前記一方の基板と対向した時にシール材が形成された部分に沿って、かつシール材の幅の内側で第1の構造物の内側又は外側に沿って延びるように、基板中央の画素領域の外側の基板の周縁部全周に渡って延びる液晶漏れ防止用の第2の構造物を形成する工程と、
前記シール材の内側の画素領域に液晶を入れる工程と、
前記シール材の幅の内側で前記第2の構造物が第1の構造物の内側又は外側に沿って延びるように、前記他方の基板を、前記第2の構造物が前記シール材を貫くようにして一方の基板の前記シール材上に載せ、一方の基板側に押さえ付けて貼り合わせる工程と、
前記シール材を硬化させる工程、
を備えたことを特徴とする液晶パネルの製造方法。 - 前記第1及び第2の構造物の高さが、前記貼り合わせる工程において、前記他方の基板を一方の基板の前記シール材上に載せた時に、基板と平行な方向に関して互いに少なくとも少しオーバーラップする高さになるようにしたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶パネルの製造方法。
- 前記第1の構造物の高さが、前記貼り合わせる工程において、前記他方の基板を一方の基板の前記シール材上に載せた時に、画素領域に入れられた液晶の高さよりも構造物上のシール材頂部までの高さが高くなるようにしたことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の液晶パネルの製造方法。
- 前記一方の基板又は他方の基板が画素領域にTFTがアレイ状に形成されるアレイ基板からなり、該基板に形成される前記第1又は第2の構造物をアレイ基板の平坦化膜を形成する時に一緒に同じ材料で形成することを特徴とする請求項1から3までのいずれか1項に記載の液晶パネルの製造方法。
- 前記他方の基板又は一方の基板が画素領域にカラーフィルタが形成されるカラーフィルタ基板からなり、該基板に形成される前記第1又は第2の構造物をカラーフィルタ基板のカラーフィルを形成する時に一緒に同じ材料を積層して形成することを特徴とする請求項1から4までのいずれか1項に記載の液晶パネルの製造方法。
