(a)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(b)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列のコード領域を含むDNA
(c)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列からなるDNAとストリンジェントな条件でハイブリダイズするDNA
(d)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列において1または複数のアミノ酸が置換、欠失、付加、および/または挿入されたアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(2)下記の(a)から(d)のいずれかに記載のDNAまたは該DNAが挿入されたベクターが導入された形質転換植物細胞であって、乾燥耐性が高められた植物体を再生しうる形質転換植物細胞
(a)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(b)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列のコード領域を含むDNA

(d)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列において1または複数のアミノ酸が置換、欠失、付加、および/または挿入されたアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(II) 工程(I)においてベクターが導入された形質転換植物細胞から植物体を再生する工程、を含む方法
ZPT2-3遺伝子(EPF2-7から改名)は、すでに単離していた別のジンクフィンガー遺伝子EPF1(Takatsuji et al., (1992)EMBO J. 11, 241-249.)のcDNAをプローブとしてペチュニアのゲノムDNAのライブラリーをスクリーニングすることにより単離した(Takatsuji et al., (1994)Plant Cell 6, 947-958.)。単離した遺伝子の塩基配列を配列番号:1に示す。本遺伝子の発現は、傷、低温、重金属(Cd, Ni, Cu, Zn)によって誘導を受けることが判明している。一方、乾燥および塩処理に対しては、成葉を用いて実験した限りは、発現誘導が認められなかった。

- 下記の(a)から(d)のいずれかに記載のDNAまたは該DNAが挿入されたベクターを含む、植物の乾燥耐性を高めるための薬剤。
(a)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(b)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列のコード領域を含むDNA
(c)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列からなるDNAとストリンジェントな条件でハイブリダイズするDNAであって、配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列と95%以上の同一性を示すアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(d)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列において1または10以内のアミノ酸が置換、欠失、付加、および/または挿入されたアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA - 下記の(a)から(d)のいずれかに記載のDNAまたは該DNAが挿入されたベクターが導入された形質転換植物細胞であって、乾燥耐性が高められた植物体を再生しうる形質転換植物細胞。

(c)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列からなるDNAとストリンジェントな条件でハイブリダイズするDNAであって、配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列と95%以上の同一性を示すアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(d)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列において1または10以内のアミノ酸が置換、欠失、付加、および/または挿入されたアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA - 請求項2に記載の形質転換植物細胞から再生された、乾燥耐性が高められた植物体。
- 請求項3に記載の植物体の子孫またはクローンである、乾燥耐性が高められた植物体。
- 請求項3または4に記載の乾燥耐性が高められた植物体の繁殖材料。
- 乾燥耐性が高められた植物体の製造方法であって、
(I)下記の(a)から(d)のいずれかに記載のDNAまたは該DNAが挿入されたベクターを植物細胞に導入する工程、
(a)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(b)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列のコード領域を含むDNA
(c)配列番号:1または2に記載の塩基配列からなるDNAとストリンジェントな条件でハイブリダイズするDNAであって、配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列と95%以上の同一性を示すアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(d)配列番号:3に記載のアミノ酸配列において1または10以内のアミノ酸が置換、欠失、付加、および/または挿入されたアミノ酸配列からなるタンパク質をコードするDNA
(II) 工程(I)においてベクターが導入された形質転換植物細胞から植物体を再生する工程、
を含む方法。
