Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an exhaust gas purification catalyst for purifying exhaust gas of an automobile, and more particularly to an NO x storage reduction type exhaust gas purification catalyst.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, the global warming phenomenon caused by carbon dioxide has become a problem, and it has been a challenge to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions. Reducing the amount of carbon dioxide in exhaust gas is also an issue in automobiles, and lean burn engines that develop lean burn of fuel in an oxygen-rich atmosphere have been developed. According to this lean burn engine, the fuel consumption is improved, so that the carbon dioxide emission can be suppressed.
[0003]
By the way, when purifying harmful components in the exhaust gas from the lean burn engine, it is difficult to reduce and purify NO x because of the oxygen-excess atmosphere. Therefore JP-A-5-317652, an alkali metal with the precious metal, the NO x storage-reduction type exhaust gas purifying catalyst carrying the NO x storage material selected from alkaline earth metals and rare earth elements is disclosed. By using this NO x storage reduction type exhaust gas purification catalyst and controlling the gas mixture composition so that it becomes a stoichiometric to rich atmosphere in the middle of a lean atmosphere, oxidation of HC and CO and reduction of NO x are achieved. It can proceed efficiently and high purification performance is obtained.
[0004]
That NO x is NO in the exhaust gas is oxidized in the lean atmosphere, the NO x emissions to be occluded in the NO x storage material is suppressed. When controlled in a stoichiometric to rich atmosphere in a pulsed manner, NO x is released from the NO x storage material, which reacts with reducing components such as HC present in the exhaust gas and is reduced, so NO x emissions Is suppressed. Accordingly, NO x emission can be suppressed in a lean to rich atmosphere.
[0005]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 10-156145 discloses a nitrogen oxide trap in which strontium oxide is attached to alumina and noble metal, zirconium and sulfate ions are further attached thereto.
[0006]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the conventional NO x storage reduction type exhaust gas purification catalyst degrades the NO x purification performance when exposed to a high temperature of 700 ° C or higher for a long time, especially the NO x purification performance at a low temperature range of 350 ° C or lower. There was a problem that was remarkable. The following causes are considered as reasons why such a problem occurs.
(1) The crystal particle of the NO x storage material is sintered to reduce the surface area, and the NO x storage element existing on the crystal surface is reduced, so that the NO x purification performance is lowered.
(2) The carrier and the NO x storage material react to generate a composite oxide, which stabilizes the NO x storage element, thereby reducing the NO x purification performance.
(3) The SO x contained in the exhaust gas reacts with the NO x storage material to produce sulfite and sulfate, and the NO x storage capacity of the NO x storage material disappears, so that the NO x purification performance decreases.
[0007]
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, to prevent the deterioration of the NO x purifying performance after exposure to temperatures higher than 700 ° C., of the NO x purifying performance in particular 350 ° C. or less of a low temperature range The purpose is to prevent the decrease.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A feature of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention that solves the above problems is that it comprises a support mainly composed of ZrO 2 , a strontium compound having a crystal particle diameter of 40 nm or less supported on the support, and a noble metal supported on the support. To be.
[0009]
Carrier it is desirable to include a LaO 2 -ZrO 2 consisting of ZrO 2 which La is added, LaO 2 -ZrO 2 preferably includes a 0.1 mol% 10 mol% of La.
[0010]
The strontium compound is preferably strontium carbonate obtained by impregnating a carrier with an aqueous strontium acetate solution, firing at 250 ° C. to 350 ° C. in the air, and further baking at 400 ° C. to 600 ° C. in the air.
[0011]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
In the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention, a strontium compound having a crystal particle diameter of 40 nm or less is supported as a NO x storage material on a carrier mainly composed of ZrO 2 . The solid phase reactivity between ZrO 2 and strontium compounds is lower than that of ZrO 2 and barium compounds, Al 2 O 3 and strontium compounds, Al 2 O 3 and barium compounds, and the like. Therefore, even if a high temperature of 700 ° C. or higher acts, complex oxides are not easily formed, so that stabilization of the strontium compound is suppressed.
[0012]
The surface area for crystal grain size of the strontium compound is very fine and 40nm or less is large, Sr elements presented on the surface is large and becomes the NO x purification activity improved.
[0013]
The presence of a fine strontium compound having a crystal grain size of 40 nm or less at the interface between ZrO 2 particles suppresses contact between ZrO 2 particles and suppresses sintering. Thereby, the fall of the specific surface area of a support | carrier is suppressed and the activity fall accompanying it is suppressed.
[0014]
Furthermore, since the crystal particle diameter of the strontium compound is as very small as 40 nm or less, the crystal particle diameter of strontium sulfate produced by reacting with SO x is also extremely fine. Therefore, when controlled in a stoichiometric to rich atmosphere in a pulsed manner, strontium sulfate is easily decomposed and a strontium compound having NO x storage ability is easily regenerated, and a decrease in NO x purification activity is suppressed.
[0015]
For these reasons, even if the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention is exposed to a high temperature of 700 ° C. or higher, the NO x purification performance is prevented from being lowered. Since the strontium compound has a high NO x purification activity in a low temperature range of 350 ° C. or lower, a decrease in NO x purification performance in a low temperature range of 350 ° C. or lower is prevented even after exposure to a high temperature of 700 ° C. or higher.
[0016]
As the carrier, a carrier containing ZrO 2 as a main component is used, and it may be composed of ZrO 2 alone or may contain other porous oxides. Examples of other porous oxides include Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , and TiO 2 . However, as the amount of other porous oxides increases, the reactivity with the strontium compound increases and the composite oxide is easily formed. Therefore, it is preferable that ZrO 2 is present in an amount of 20% by weight or more based on the weight of all the carriers. More preferably, the entire support is composed of ZrO 2 .
[0017]
ZrO 2 constituting the main component of the carrier, it is desirable to include LaO 2 -ZrO 2 consisting of ZrO 2 which La is added. By containing La, the NO x storage capacity is further improved, and the NO x purification performance is further improved. Moreover, thermal stability is improved and sintering is further suppressed. Therefore LaO 2 -ZrO 2 is preferably the more involved, it is more desirable to make the entire ZrO 2 and LaO 2 -ZrO 2 constituting the desired overall carrier from LaO 2 -ZrO 2. Note LaO 2 -ZrO 2 preferably contains 0.1 mol% 10 mol% of La. The addition amount of La is not expressed the added effect is less than 0.1 mol%, is added over 10 mol% activity as a carrier deteriorates is the NO x purification performance to decrease.
[0018]
The strontium compound, strontium carbonate strontium oxide, strontium chloride, strontium sulfate, can be used various compounds such as strontium nitrate, higher the NO x storage capacity stability is high strontium carbonate is particularly preferred. Strontium sulfate or the like becomes strontium carbonate by the reducing action in a rich atmosphere, but it goes without saying that it is preferably supported as strontium carbonate from the beginning.
[0019]
The crystal grain size of the supported strontium compound is as very small as 40 nm or less. As a result, various effects as described above are exhibited, and when the crystal particle diameter exceeds 40 nm, it is difficult to achieve these effects.
[0020]
To support a strontium compound, if the support is impregnated with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble strontium salt such as strontium acetate and baked in the atmosphere, it can be supported as stable strontium carbonate by reacting with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. . The firing conditions are preferably after firing at 250 ° C. to 350 ° C. and further firing at 400 ° C. to 600 ° C. in the atmosphere. As a result, strontium carbonate having a crystal particle diameter of 40 nm or less can be easily and reliably highly dispersed and supported. It can also be supported by solid-phase mixing of carrier powder and strontium carbonate powder with a crystal particle size of 40 nm or less, and firing it in the atmosphere, but such fine strontium carbonate powder is easy to aggregate and handle Therefore, it is particularly desirable to carry from an aqueous solution such as strontium acetate as described above.
[0021]
Loading of strontium compounds is in the range of the carrier per liter 0.05 to 2.0 mol of a main component ZrO 2 are desirable. Supported amount is reduced less than the the NO x storage capacity is smaller the NO x purification performance is 0.05 mol, the effect also contain more than 2.0 mole problems will be caused due to the decrease of the other components amount with saturated.
[0022]
The exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention may carry another NO x storage material in addition to the strontium compound. As the other NO x storage material, at least one compound selected from alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and rare earth elements can be used. Examples of the alkali metal include lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium, cesium, and francium. Examples of the alkaline earth metal include barium, beryllium, magnesium, and calcium. Examples of rare earth elements include scandium, yttrium, lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium, neodymium, and the like. However, NO x storage materials other than strontium compounds are liable to react with ZrO 2 and form complex oxides, so it is desirable not to use as much as possible.
[0023]
As the noble metal, one or more of Pt, Rh, Pd, and Ir can be used. In the case of Pt and Pd, the supported amount is preferably from 0.1 to 20.0 g, particularly preferably from 0.5 to 10.0 g, based on 120 g of the carrier. In the case of Rh, 0.01 to 10 g is preferable with respect to 120 g of the carrier, and 0.05 to 5.0 g is particularly preferable.
[0024]
The loading order of the strontium compound and the noble metal is not particularly limited.
[0025]

From Table 3, the catalyst of each example saturated the NO x storage amount and the rich spike after the NO x storage amount are both high, it can be seen that excellent the NO x purification performance after endurance test as compared to the catalysts of Comparative Examples . Hereinafter, the data in Table 3 will be further analyzed.
[0045]
(1) Example 1 after impact endurance test of the crystal grain size, Example 3, Figure 2 the relationship between the crystal grain size and rich spike after the NO x storage amount of strontium carbonate in the catalyst of Comparative Example 1 and Comparative Example 2 Shown in
[0046]
FIG. 2 shows that when the crystal particle diameter of strontium carbonate is about 40 nm or less, practically sufficient NO x purification activity can be obtained even after the durability test.
[0047]
(2) Influence of NO x storage element FIG. 3 shows the NO x storage amount after rich spike of the catalysts of Examples 1, Comparative Example 3, Comparative Example 4 and Comparative Example 5 after the durability test.
[0048]
From FIG. 3, it is clear that Sr is most preferable as the NO x storage element. In the case of Ba, since the crystal grain size of the barium carbonate is greater manufactured in the same manner as in Example 1, NO x purifying performance is considered to have become lower than the Sr. In the case of Ca and Mg, the crystal grain size of the carbonate salts are equivalent to the case of Sr, Ca and Mg is low is the NO x purification performance compared to a low basicity when compared to the Sr Sr It is thought.
[0049]
(3) Example 1 after impact endurance test carrier, showing the rich spike after the NO x storage amount of the catalyst of Example 2 and Comparative Example 6 in FIG.
[0050]
From FIG. 4, it can be seen that ZrO 2 support can obtain higher NO x purification performance than Al 2 O 3 support, and it is clear that LaO 2 —ZrO 2 support composed of ZrO 2 with La added is particularly preferable. . In the case of ZrO 2 or LaO 2 -ZrO 2 carriers, Al 2 crystal grain size of the strontium carbonate is smaller than in the case of O 3, high order effective Sr atoms occlusion of the NO x becomes much the surface NO x It is considered to show purification performance.
[0051]
(4) from Sahyo 3 of JP-A-10-156145 and JP-the catalysts Examples 1 to 3, the NO x storage amount after saturation the NO x storage amount and the rich spike are both larger than the catalyst of Comparative Example 8 . In Examples 1 to 3, it is apparent that this is the effect of using a carrier mainly composed of ZrO 2 and supporting it as fine strontium carbonate. That is, in the catalyst of Comparative Example 8, since the carrier contains ZrO 2 but carries Al 2 O 3 as a main component, it is judged that the NO x purification performance in a low temperature range of 350 ° C. or lower after the durability test is low. The

【The invention's effect】
That is, according to the catalyst of the present invention, almost no reduction of the NO x purifying performance even when exposed to temperatures higher than 700 ° C., in a low temperature region of 350 ° C. or less even after exposure to temperatures higher than 700 ° C. It exhibits high NO x purification performance and extremely excellent durability.
