Description
本発明の光学フィルムに用いる高分子液晶微粒子は、液晶性メソゲンを有し、熱、光、またはその両者を付与することにより配向する高分子液晶化合物からなる微粒子であり、平均粒径が0.5μm〜10μmであることを特徴としている。
重合性単量体として、下記式(1)で表される化合物3.0g、下記式(2)で表される化合物2.0g、重合開始剤として2.2′−アゾビス(イソブチロニトリル)0.02部をポリビニルアルコールの0.10%水溶液200ml中に5℃で混合し、重合性単量体の反応液を得た。
光学等方性樹脂としてペンタエリスリトールトリアクリレート、高分子液晶微粒子として実施例1の高分子液晶微粒子、光開始剤として2−ヒドロキシ−2−メチルプロピオフェノン、溶剤としてMIBKを用い、以下の配合比で配合してサンドミルにて15分間分散することで塗料を調製した。
[配合比]
光学等方性樹脂 :100部
高分子液晶微粒子 :8部
光開始剤 :3部
クロロホルム :140部
光学等方性樹脂としてペンタエリスリトールトリアクリレート、高分子液晶微粒子の代わりに平均粒径3.0μmのアクリル樹脂製の球状透明微粒子、光開始剤として2−ヒドロキシ−2−メチルプロピオフェノン、溶剤としてメチルイソブチルケトンを用い、以下の配合比で配合してサンドミルにて15分間分散することで塗料を調製した。
[配合比]
光学等方性樹脂 :100部
球状透明微粒子 :8部
光開始剤 :3部
クロロホルム :140部
高分子液晶微粒子の代わりに平均粒径3.5μmのスチレン樹脂製の球状透明微粒子を使用した以外は比較例1と同様の方法により、比較例2の光学フィルムを得た。
(正面コントラストの測定)
実施例および比較例の光学フィルムを、液晶モニターの表面に貼り付け、カラー輝度計(BM−7:トプコン製)にてコントラストを測定した。なお、数値が大きいほどコントラストは良好である。
(画像のボケ評価)
実施例および比較例の光学フィルムを、液晶モニターの表面に貼り付け、液晶モニターに静止画像を表示した状態で正面より画像のボケを観察した。評価基準は次の通りである。○:ボケが認められない。×:ボケが認められる。
それらの評価結果を下記表1に示す。
Claims (5)
- 透明基体と、その少なくとも一方の面上に設けられた、光学等方性樹脂中に、熱、光またはその両者を付与することにより配向する高分子液晶化合物からなる平均粒径0.5μm〜10μmの微粒子を分散したコーティング層とを有し、前記高分子液晶化合物がメソゲンとシンナモイル基を有し、光学フィルムの正面から光線が入射した場合の光学等方性樹脂相と高分子液晶化合物からなる微粒子との屈折率差よりも、光学フィルムの斜めから光線が入射した場合の上記屈折率差が小さくなるように高分子液晶化合物からなる微粒子が配向されていることを特徴とする光学フィルム。
- 前記コーティング層が、平均粗さRa:0.1〜1.0μmの凹凸表面を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光学フィルム。
- 光学等方性樹脂と、メソゲンとシンナモイル基を有する高分子液晶微粒子とを溶剤に溶解・分散して塗料を調製する工程と、該塗料を透明基体上に塗布し、溶剤を揮発させて、光学等方性樹脂相中に平均粒径0.5μm〜10μmの高分子液晶微粒子を分散させたコーティング層を形成する工程と、光、熱、またはその両者を付与して高分子液晶化合物を分子配向させる工程とからなる光学フィルムの製造方法であって、該光学フィルムの正面から光線が入射した場合の光学等方性樹脂相と高分子液晶化合物からなる微粒子との屈折率差よりも、光学フィルムの斜めから光線が入射した場合の上記屈折率差が小さくなるように高分子液晶化合物からなる微粒子が配向されていることを特徴とする光学フィルムの製造方法。
- 液晶性メソゲンとシンナモイル基を有し、熱、光またはその両者を付与することにより配向する高分子液晶化合物からなる微粒子であって、平均粒径が0.5μm〜10μmであることを特徴とする請求項1の光学フィルムに使用するための高分子液晶微粒子。
- 前記微粒子の形状が球状であることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の高分子液晶微粒子。
