Description
概して、本発明は、水系媒体を触媒活性炭に接触させてクロラミンを除去する改良された方法からなる。本発明で用いられる触媒活性炭は、700℃以上で窒素含有化合物に接触あるいは曝された炭素材料から調製される。
本発明の触媒活性炭および関連する炭素製品の実験から得られたデータによって、本発明の触媒活性炭の水からの優れたクロラミン除去性能が確認された。下記の実施例は、21℃において、典型的な飲料水のレベルである約3ppmのクロラミン溶液を用いて炭素製品(≧90%−325メッシュ)について行なわれた試験結果である。クロラミン溶液は、1Lの塩化アンモニウム水溶液(NH4Cl 1.500g)と、炭酸ナトリウム(Na2CO3 1.250g)およびChlorox家庭用漂白剤(6%NaOCl 12ml)を含む1Lの水溶液を混合して作製した。約300ppmのクロラミン(NH2Cl)を含有するこの溶液は、21℃で1時間、平衡状態に保たれた。この溶液10mLを水で希釈して1Lとし、約3ppmの溶液を得た。希釈されたクロラミン溶液の実際の濃度は、(炭素を省略した)実施例1に記載の比色分析方法によって決定された。このクロラミン試験溶液は、試験前に、21℃/1時間で平衡に保たれた。全ての溶液は、高純水、分析用グレードの試薬(漂白剤を除く)を用いて試験の当日に用意された。
植物生成物の触媒とCentaurの触媒活性を、「t−3/4時間」代用試験で測定した。手順および結果を実施例3において説明する。
いくつかの理由により、水濾過工業においては、POEやPOUフィルターとして炭素ブロックが都合がよい。そのような形態によれば、取扱いが容易で、チリの発生も少ない。また、これらの事実から、消費者にとってフィルター交換が容易になる。炭素ブロックの製造工程においては、炭素を適切な結着材、通常は高密度ポリエチレンと混合し、幾つかの独自製法によって炭素ブロックに形成される。

- 溶液や流動体を活性炭と接触させることによる溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法において、リグノセルロース物質に対してNH 3 および酸素含有ガスの混合ガス流を通すと同時に上記リグノセルロース物質に熱分解を行うことによって製造した活性炭を使用することを特徴とする溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記活性炭は、固体ブロック形状であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記炭素処理ガス流は、NH 3 /CO 2 、NH 3 /O 2 、NH 3 /H 2 O、およびNH 3 /NO X からなる群から選択されるNH 3 /酸素含有ガス混合物であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記NH 3 /酸素含有ガス混合物は、10:90以下の割合であり、上記炭素表面から表面酸化物を除去するのに十分な時間接触させることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記NH 3 /酸素含有ガス混合物は、NH 3 /H 2 Oであることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記溶液または流動体は水系であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記熱分解温度は、約700℃以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記活性炭の固体ブロックは、炭素と結着材の粒子の混合物を成形したものであることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記結着材は高分子物質であり、前記混合は加熱下にて行い、前記成形は冷却に先立って行なうことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
- 前記結着材は高密度ポリエチレンであり、前記混合はそのガラス転移点以上の温度で行なうことを特徴とする請求項9に記載の溶液または流動体からのクロラミン除去方法。
