Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 [産業上の利用分野] 本発明は、熱可塑性パイプ材を密封接続する方法、特
に、直径の大きい熱可塑性パイプ材の隣接端部を電気的
融着により密封接続する方法に関する。
[従来の技術] 熱可塑性材料から直径の大きいパイプを製造するため
に今日まで種々の押出し及び成形方法が開発、使用され
ていた。多数のこのような方法は、テープの隣接端部及
び表面が融着されるように押出しされたプラスチックを
溶融状態でマンドレルの周りに巻着させる段階を含んで
いる。巻着された熱可塑性材料を冷却してマンドレルか
ら取り外すと、固形管状パイプが形成される。
[発明が解決しようとする課題] 熱可塑性材料からなる直径の大きいパイプは耐劣化性
に優れ、軽量であり且つ実質的に使用が限定されないた
めに、例えば大型の水路及び下水道路への適用が増大し
ている。しかしながら、パイプ直径が大きいために、隣
接するパイプ材の端部の密封接続はこれまでやっかいで
あり且つコスト高であった。
[課題を解決するための手段] 本発明によれば、第1及び第2の熱可塑性パイプ材の
隣接端部を電気的融着により密封接続する方法であっ
て、 (a)縦方向の割れ目を有する熱可塑性スリーブのコネ
クタを、第1の熱可塑性パイプ材の端部に置いて第1の
パイプ材の長さに沿って移動し、端部に隣接する第1の
パイプ材の部分を露出させる段階と、 (b)第2のパイプ材を第1のパイプ材と一列に並べて
置き、第2のパイプ材の端部を、隣接露出部分を有する
第1のパイプ材の端部に隣接して位置させる段階と、 (c)第1のパイプ材における端部に隣接する露出部分
の少なくとも一部の外側面、並びに第1のパイプ材の端
部に隣接する第2のパイプ材の端部の外側面の周りに電
気抵抗加熱線を巻き付ける段階と、 (d)スリーブを、各パイプ材の隣接端部並びにパイプ
材に巻き付けられた電気抵抗加熱線を覆う位置に移動さ
せる段階と、 (e)スリーブ及び各パイプ材の隣接部分を構成する熱
可塑性材料が互いに密封融着するのに要する時間、電気
抵抗加熱線に電流を加える段階と、 (f)前述の(e)段階を実行する前に、又はそれと同
時にスリーブにおける割れ目の面を互いに融着する段階
とを備えている方法が提供される。
[作用] スリーブコネクタはこれに形成された縦方向の割れ目
を含んでいるため、割れ目の面を広げて離間させること
によりスリーブの内径を拡大することできる。割れ目の
面は又、必要により、接続されるべきパイプ材の外径の
変化に従ってスリーブコネクタの内径を小さくするよう
に切り詰めることができる。割れ目の面はスリーブをパ
イプ材に電気的に融着させる前にあるいはそれと同時
に、加熱アイロン突合せ融接技術又は電気的融着技術を
使用して融着される。
[実施例] 本発明がもっと簡単に理解され得るように、添付図面
を参照して単に実施例として以下の説明を行う。
本発明によれば、直径の大きい一対の熱可塑性パイプ
材の隣接端部を電気的融着により密封接続する方法を提
供する。該方法は電気抵抗加熱線の埋込まれていない熱
可塑性スリーブコネクタを使用している。その代わり
に、加熱線は接続されるべきパイプ材の端部部分の外面
上に巻回されている。
第1図を参照すると、縦方向の割れ目66を含む熱可塑
性スリーブコネクタ52がパイプ材54の端部上に配置され
且つパイプ材54の長さに沿って矢印56の方向に移動させ
られる。次に第2図に示す如く、第2のパイプ材58が配
置され、その端部はパイプ材54の端部に隣接している。
電気抵抗加熱線60はパイプ材54、58の隣接端部に近い該
パイプ材の端部部分上に巻回される。加熱線60の反対側
の端部部分62、64はそれぞれパイプ材54、58の外面から
外側に伸びている。
縦方向の割れ目66があるために、コネクタ52の内径は
パイプ材54、58上でのコネクタの移動を簡単にするため
に該割れ目66の面を広げてより大きくされ得る。
第3図を参照すると、次にスリーブコネクタ52が矢印
68の方向に向けて第4図に示す位置に移動させられる。
第4図ではスリーブコネクタ52はパイプ材54、58の隣接
端部上及び該パイプ材上に巻回された電気抵抗加熱線60
上にある。一旦適切に配置されると、加熱線60の端部部
分62、64は割れ目66を貫通させられ、該割れ目66の面は
移動させられ且つ公知の突合せ融接又は電気的融着の装
置及び技術を使用して融着される。パイプ材54、58の隣
接端部をスリーブコネクタ52に密封接続するために、ス
リーブコネクタ52とパイプ材54、58との隣接部分を構成
する熱可塑性材料が融着されるのに十分な時間、加熱線
の端部部分62、64を介して電流が加熱線60に加えられ
る。
上述した方法及びスリーブコネクタを更に説明するた
めに、次の具体例を示す。
具体例 外径が約61cmの熱可塑性パイプ材が以下の如く電気的
融着により密封接続される。内径が約61cmで、外径が約
66cmで、長さが約61cmの熱可塑性スリーブコネクタが一
方のパイプ材の端部上に配置され且つ該パイプ材の長さ
に沿って移動させられる。スリーブコネクタは該スリー
ブコネクタに形成された縦方向の割れ目を含んでいる。
第2のパイプ材が第1のパイプ材と整列して配置され、
それにより第1のパイプ材の端部は第2のパイプ材の端
部に隣接して配置される。長さが30.5mで、直径が約2mm
の電気抵抗加熱用銅線がパイプ材の隣接端部に最も近い
該パイプ材の外面の周りに巻着される。スリーブコネク
タはパイプ材の隣接端部上及びパイプ材上に巻着されて
いる加熱線上を移動させられる。加熱線の反対側の端部
部分はコネクタの割れ目を貫通させられる。コネクタの
割れ目の面は加熱アイロンを使用して融着させられる。
加熱線の端部を介して電流が抵抗加熱線に加えられ、そ
れによりスリーブコネクタとパイプ材との隣接部分を構
成する熱可塑性材料が密封融着される。
【図面の簡単な説明】 第1図は割れ目を有するスリーブコネクタがその上に配
置されている、直径の大きい熱可塑性パイプ材の斜視

Claims (3)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項1】第1及び第2の熱可塑性パイプ材の隣接端
    部を電気的融着により密封接続する方法であって、 (a)縦方向の割れ目を有する熱可塑性スリーブのコネ
    クタを、前記第1の熱可塑性パイプ材の端部に置いて該
    第1のパイプ材の長さに沿って移動し、該端部に隣接す
    る第1のパイプ材の部分を露出させる段階と、 (b)前記第2のパイプ材を前記第1のパイプ材と一列
    に並べて置き、該第2のパイプ材の端部を、前記隣接露
    出部分を有する前記第1のパイプ材の端部に隣接して位
    置させる段階と、 (c)前記第1のパイプ材における端部に隣接する露出
    部分の少なくとも一部の外側面、並びに該第1のパイプ
    材の端部に隣接する前記第2のパイプ材の端部の外側面
    の周りに電気抵抗加熱線を巻き付ける段階と、 (d)前記スリーブを、各パイプ材の隣接端部並びに該
    パイプ材に巻き付けられた前記電気抵抗加熱線を覆う位
    置に移動させる段階と、 (e)前記スリーブ及び各パイプ材の隣接部分を構成す
    る熱可塑性材料が互いに密封融着するのに要する時間、
    前記電気抵抗加熱線に電流を加える段階と、 (f)前記(e)段階を実行する前に、又はそれと同時
    に前記スリーブにおける割れ目の面を互いに融着する段
    階とを備えている方法。
  2. 【請求項2】前記熱可塑性パイプ材及び前記熱可塑性ス
    リーブのコネクタがポリオレフィン樹脂からなる請求項
    1に記載の方法。
  3. 【請求項3】前記(c)段階に従って各パイプ材に巻き
    付けられた前記電気抵抗加熱線の端部が、前記(e)段
    階を実行して前記割れ目の面を互いに融着する前に、前
    記スリーブの割れ目に通される請求項1又は2に記載の
    方法。
