【考案の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【産業上の利用分野】本考案は犬、猫等の室内で飼育さ
れるペットの便を受けるために使用されるペット用便床
に関するものである。
【０００２】
【従来の技術】従来はこの種のペット用便床としてはゼ
オライト系の吸着剤が使用されていた。
【０００３】
【考案が解決しようとする課題】しかしながら上記従来
のゼオライト系の吸着剤からなる便床にあっては、脱臭
能が充分でなく、短期間の使用で室内に臭気が充満する
ので吸着剤交換の頻度が多く手間がかゝり、また使用済
の吸着剤の廃棄量が多くなり、ごみ対策上大きな問題と
なっていた。

【課題を解決するための手段】本考案は細孔径が８０〜
１２０Å、粒径か８〜４０メッシュのシリカゲル（１）
からなるペット用便床（３）を提供するものである。
【０００５】
【作用】細孔径が８０〜１２０Åのシリカゲル（１）は
表面積が大きく、そして常湿範囲で可逆的な吸水性を示
す。したがってペットの糞尿の水溶性臭気成分および非
水溶性臭気成分の両方を大量に効率良く吸着する。この
ような脱臭効果に加えて更に該糞尿の水分を吸収し乾燥
させ、低湿時には臭気成分は捕捉して水分のみを排出す
る。したがって糞尿の水分による臭気の拡散も防止で
き、該シリカゲル（１）の脱水脱臭効果は永続する。ま
た該シリカゲル（１）の粒径が８〜４０メッシュの粒状
のものは水分と接触しても割れにくゝ、取扱が非常に容
易である。

【実施例】本考案を図１に示す一実施例によって説明す
れば、シリカゲル（１）は容器（２）内に充填されて便
床（３）を形成する。該シリカゲル（１）は細孔径か８
０〜１２０Åのもので粒径が８〜４０メッシュのものを
選択するが、また細孔径は上記範囲で広い分布を有する
ことが望ましい。また該シリカゲル（１）にはアンモニ
ア吸着能を向上させるためにクエン酸、リンゴ酸、タン
ニン酸等の有機酸を添加してもよい。
【０００７】 上記便床（３）において、容器（２）に
約３Ｋｇのシリカゲルを入れ、これを一匹の猫を飼って
いる室内に置いて使用したところ、１５日後において始
めて糞尿臭が室内に感知された。一方比較として同量の
ゼオライト系脱臭剤を使用した場合は、３日後において
既に糞尿臭が室内に感知された。
【０００８】 本実施例以外、例えばシリカゲル（１）
を紙の上等に撒いて便床としてもよい。

【考案の効果】したがって本考案においては、常湿の範
囲で可逆的な吸水性を有するシリカゲルを使用するか
ら、ペットの糞尿による臭気の発生を長期間にわたって
防止することが出来、ペットの糞尿の水分吸収能力も長
期間にわたって維持され、もって使用済のシリカゲルの
廃棄量も従来の吸着剤に比して格段に減少させることが
出来るし、また防虫効果も得られる。
