Abstract
Description
HOCl + Cl− + H+ ←→ H2O + Cl2 (式1)
その製造方法(下記を参照のこと)の結果として、電解次亜塩素酸は必然的に相当量の塩化物(典型的には1(w/v)%以上)を含有し、式1による平衡量の元素状塩素を生じる。これは溶液の貯蔵にとって問題となる。塩素は、揮発性ガスであり、大気中、または溶液中に塩素を含む容器の上部空間に容易に逃げ、容器を開けると急速にそこから逃げる。それはまた小さい中性分子であり、消費者製品のための液体パッケージに一般的に使用される低密度ポリマーを通して容易に拡散する。これらの要因により、塩化物を含むHOClの保存溶液から徐々に塩素が失われる。

例えば、米国特許第5,858,201号、第6,793,846号及び第7,749,370号を参照のこと。全てのそのような従来技術のHOCl溶液は、本明細書ではFAC(Free Available Chlorine)溶液またはFAC水という。FAC溶液は、供給溶液、電極材料及びアルカリまたはカソード水との任意の混合に応じて、典型的には5〜7のpHを有する。FAC溶液は、HOClに加えて酸化種(例えば、オゾン、溶存酸素及び過酸化水素)を含有していてもよく、それらはその抗菌特性を増強するとされている。

この反応の速度は、酸性度の増大と共に増大し、従ってこのプロセスは自己触媒的であり、そしてpHが緩衝液により調節されない場合、分解速度(そしてpH低下速度)は急速に増大する。その効果は、図2に示されており、それは先行技術の米国特許第6,426,066号からコピーされている。
本発明の一態様では、本発明は、対応するpH値で水溶液を緩衝するのに有効な、様々なpKa値を有する新規ホスホン酸を提供する。本発明のホスホン酸は、ヒドロペルオキシド、過酸化物、過炭酸塩、過ホウ酸塩、ハロゲン、ならびに種々のハロゲンオキシアニオン及びオキシ酸のような酸化剤に対して安定である。
本開示の目的のために、pH値は、1つまたは2つの有効数字で示される(例えば、「pH3」または「pH3.0」)。本開示の文脈において、チャート、グラフ、計算、または実験データを参照して提示されていない限り、そのような数は近似値であり、絶対的な制限ではなく、本発明の本質に対する指針として役立つことを意図することが理解されるべきである。実際の解決策は、本発明の意図する範囲から逸脱することなく、記載された値から0.5pH単位内で変動し得る。pH値を列挙する請求項は、適宜、そして等価物の原則を十分に考慮して解釈されるべきである。
pHを少なくとも3〜7の範囲内に維持することができ、そして好ましくはpHを4〜6の範囲に維持することができる緩衝液を用いてHOCl溶液のpHを安定化することが望ましい。3〜7の間のpKa値を有する最も知られている緩衝液は、N−酸化もしくはN−塩素化を受けるアミノ基、及び/またはアシルペルオキシドもしくは次亜塩素酸アシル種の形成を受けるカルボン酸基を含む。従って、適切な緩衝液を見つけることは困難であり、そして本発明は、次亜塩素酸溶液に関する問題に対する解決法を提供する最初のものである。
本発明はまた、本発明の抗菌性組成物のうちの1つで湿らされているかまたは飽和されている、織布または不織布の拭き取り物の形態の、環境表面洗浄及び/または皮膚洗浄抗菌物品も提供する。この拭き取り用品は、織布もしくは不織布、好ましくは親水性布地のディスクもしくはパッドであってもよいし、または親水性ポリマーフォームから形成されてもよい。
元素の塩素は式1に従って生成され、溶液中に保たれそして逃げるのを妨げられる場合、平衡濃度に留まり、それにより反応が右へ進行するのを妨げ得る。この理由のために、塩素不透過性及び塩素耐性のパッケージングが、本発明の組成物及び物品にとって好ましい。このパッケージングは好ましくは、貯蔵中に塩素が溶液から逃げることができるガスの容積を最小にするために、ゼロまたは実質的に上部空間ゼロであることを特徴とする。特定の実施形態では、パッケージは、ガラスまたはポリマーのボトルまたはジャーであってもよい。代替の実施形態では、パッケージは、再封可能な開口部を有する折り畳み式パウチであってもよい。このパッケージはまた、使い捨ての(single−use)開封(tear−open)パウチの形態をとってもよい。
