[第1化合物群]
本発明の一実施例による多環化合物は、例えば、下記のように合成される。但し、本発明の一実施例による多環化合物の合成方法はこれに限定されない。
[反応式]
窒素雰囲気下、トルエン(60ml)及び水(20ml)に2−メトキシフェニルボロン酸(1.83g、12.0mmol)、1,3,5−トリブロモベンゼン(1.89g、6.00mmol)、Pd(PPh3)4(136mg、0.118mmol)、及びK2CO3(3.32g、24.0mmol)の混合物を入れ、80℃で24時間攪拌した。水を添加した後、生成物をトルエンで抽出した。抽出された有機層を塩水で洗浄し、無水Na2SO4で乾燥して、減圧下で濃縮した。生成された粗生成物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィ(溶離液として体積比5:1のへキサン及びトルエンを使用)で精製し、無色の粘着オイルとして中間体A−1を収得した(収得率=1.19g、3.22mmol、54%)。中間体A−1に対する1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
窒素雰囲気下、トルエン(7.5ml)に中間体A−1(554mg、1.50mmol)、D(542mg、1.50mmol)、Pd2(dba)3(29mg、0.032mmol)、P(t−Bu)3H・BF4(36mg、0.12mmol)、及びナトリウムt−ブトキシド(289mg、3.01mmol)の混合物を入れ、100℃で20時間攪拌した。NH4Cl水溶液を添加した後、生成物をトルエンで抽出した。抽出された有機層を塩水で洗浄し、無水Na2SO4で乾燥して、減圧下で濃縮した。生成された粗生成物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィ(溶離液として体積比1:1のへキサン及びトルエンを使用)で精製し、白色固体の中間体A−2を収得した(収得率=809mg、1.25mmol、83%)。中間体A−2に対する1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
o−ジクロロベンゼン(5mL)に中間体A−2(648mg、1.00mmol)を入れて攪拌し、0℃の窒素雰囲気下でBBr3(1.0M、1.0mL、1.0mmol、inヘプタン)を追加した。反応液を常温で15時間攪拌した後、N,N−ジイソプロピルエチルアミン(0.34mL、2.0mmol)を追加した。溶媒を真空下で除去した後、生成された粗生成物をヘキサン及びアセトにトリルで洗浄し、白色固体の化合物43を収得した(収得率=360mg、0.574mmol、57%)。化合物43に対する1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
窒素雰囲気下、トルエン(45ml)及び水(15ml)に2−(tert−ブチルチオ)フェニル)ボロン酸(2.56g、12.2mmol)、1,3,5−トリブロモベンゼン(1.91g、6.07mmol)、Pd(PPh3)4(209mg、0.181mmol)、及びK2CO3(3.36g、24.3mmol)の混合物を入れ、80℃で24時間攪拌した。水を添加した後、生成物をエチルアセテートで抽出した。抽出された有機層を塩水で洗浄し、無水Na2SO4で乾燥して、減圧下で濃縮した。生成された粗生成物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィ(溶離液として体積比10:1のへキサン及びトルエンを使用)で精製し、無色の粘着性オイル状の中間体B−1を収得した(収得率=2.26g、4.65mmol、77%)。中間体B−1に対する1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
窒素雰囲気下、トルエン(15ml)に中間体B−1(1.43g、2.95mmol)、D(1.12g、3.10mmol)、Pd2(dba)3(55mg、0.060mmol)、P(t−Bu)3H・BF4(69mg、0.24mmol)、及びナトリウムtert−ブトキシド(575mg、5.98mmol)の混合物を入れ、100℃で20時間攪拌した。NH4Cl水溶液を添加した後、生成物をトルエンで抽出した。抽出された有機層を塩水で洗浄し、無水Na2SO4で乾燥して、減圧下で濃縮した。生成された粗生成物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィ(溶離液として体積比2:1のへキサン及びトルエンを使用)で精製し、白色固体の中間体B−2を収得した。中間体B−2に対する1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
o−ジクロロベンゼン(9mL)に中間体B−2(1.15g、1.50mmol)を入れて攪拌し、0℃の窒素雰囲気下でBBr3(1.0M、1.5mL、1.5mmol、inヘプタン)を追加した。40℃で24時間攪拌した後、N,N−ジイソプロピルエチルアミン(0.50ml、2.9mmol)を反応混合物に添加した。溶媒を真空で除去した後、生成された粗生成物をへキサン及びアセトにトリルで洗浄し、黄色固体の化合物61を収得した(収得率=948mg、1.44mmol、96%)。化合物61に対する1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
[反応式]
窒素雰囲気下で、無水トルエン(30ml)でBCl3(1.0M、6.0ml、6.0mmol、inヘプタン)を追加した。0℃で無水トルエン(8ml)と混合された3’−ブロモ−ビフェニル−2−オール(996mg、4.00mmol)を滴下した。反応混合物を常温に加温した後、AlCl3(60mg、0.45mmol)を添加した。120℃で15時間攪拌した後、0℃でメタノール(4ml)を反応混合物に添加した。溶媒を真空で除去した後、精製された粗生成物を無水CH2Cl2に入れてろ過した。ろ過液を減圧下で圧縮した後、生成された粗生成物をメタノールで洗浄し、褐色固体の中間体C−1を収得した(収得率=934mg、3.23mmol、81%)。生成された粗生成物を追加に精製せずに、すぐ次の反応で使用した。
無水THF(テトラヒドロフラン)(20ml)に1−ブロモ−2,4,6−トリイソプロピルベンゼンを入れて攪拌し、−78℃でn−BuLi(1.57M、2.57ml、4.03mmol、inへキサン)を追加した。反応混合物を同じ温度で1時間攪拌し、中間体C−1(934mg、3.23mmol、in無水THF)を追加した。反応混合物を0℃まで加温した後、室温に徐々に加温した。水を追加した後、エチルアセテートで生成物を抽出した。抽出された有機層を塩水で洗浄し、無水Na2SO4で乾燥して、減圧下で濃縮した。生成された粗生成物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィ(溶離液として体積比4:1のへキサン及びトルエンを使用)で精製した後、へキサン及びエタノールから再沈殿させて白色固体の中間体C−2を得た(収得率=528mg、1.14mmol、29%)。中間体C−2に対する1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
窒素雰囲気下、トルエン(3.5mL)に中間体C−2(162mg、0.351mmol)、D(127mg、0.351mmol)、Pd2(dba)3(6.8mg、0.0076mmol)、P(t−Bu)3H・BF4(8.9mg、0.031mmol)、及びナトリウムt−ブトキシド(51mg、0.531mmol)の混合物を、90℃で16時間攪拌した。水を添加した後、生成物をトルエンで抽出した。抽出された有機層を塩水で洗浄し、無水Na2SO4で乾燥して、減圧下で濃縮した。生成された粗生成物をシリカゲルカラムクロマトグラフィ(溶離液として体積比3:1のへキサン及びトルエンを使用)によって精製した後、CH2Cl2及びメタノールから再沈殿させて白色固体の化合物81を収得した(収得率=169mg、0.228mmol、65%)。化合物81の1H NMR(400MHz、CDCl3)測定結果は以下のとおりであった。
MALDI−TOF MS測定で測定された化合物81の[M+]値は739.45(m/z)であった。
2−1.多環化合物のエネルギー準位
実施例化合物43、61、81及び比較例化合物X−1、X−2、X−3の一重項エネルギー準位(S1 energy level)と三重項エネルギー準位(T1 energy level)を、非経験的分子軌道法(nonempirical moleculari orbital method)で測定した。詳しくは、Gaussian社製のGaussian09を利用して、汎関数にB3LYP、既定関数に6−31G(d)を利用して計算を行った。
(比較例化合物)
蛍光発光特性の評価には、JASCO V−670 spectrometerを利用した。実施例化合物に対しては、PPFが20wt%ドーピングされたフィルムを蒸着によってquartz glass上に作成し、蛍光発光スペクトルを測定した。比較例化合物に対しては、先行文献の中の測定結果を記載している。蛍光量子収率は、JASCO ILF−885 integrating sphere systemを利用して測定した。各最大発光波長におけるCIE等式関数(Color matching functions)の三色刺激値のうちZ刺激値(the CIE tristimulus value Z)は、CIE 1931 color spaceに基づく値を利用しており、波長が360nm以下であれば360nmのZ刺激値とした。蛍光量子収率と各最大発光波長におけるZ刺激値の積を青色蛍光指数として定義し、各材料の相対比視感度(luminous efficiency function)を比較した。
実施例化合物43、61及び81を発光層のドーパント材料として使用し、実施例1〜実施例3の有機電界発光素子を製作した。
実施例及び比較例による有機電界発光素子の特性を評価するために、外部量子効率の最大値を評価した。有機電界発光素子の電圧及び電流密度はソースメータ(Keithley Instruments社製、2400series)を利用して測定し、輝度及び外部量子効率はHamamatsu Photonics社製の外部量子効率測定装置C9920−12を利用して測定した。

R1は重水素原子、ハロゲン原子、置換もしくは無置換のシリル基、置換もしくは無置換のアミノ基、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1以上10以下のアルコキシ基、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1以上20以下のアルキル基、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6以上30以下のアリール基、または置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数3以上20以下のヘテロアリール基であり、
aは0以上8以下の整数であり、
XはCR2R3またはSiR4R5であり、
R2〜R5はそれぞれ独立して水素原子、重水素原子、ハロゲン原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1以上20以下のアルキル基、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6以上20以下のアリール基、または置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数3以上20以下のヘテロアリール基であるか、または隣接する基と互いに結合して環を形成し、

R6〜R9は、それぞれ独立して重水素原子、ハロゲン原子、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1以上10以下のアルコキシ基、置換もしくは無置換の炭素1以上10以下のスルフィド基、置換もしくは無置換のアミノ基、置換もしくは無置換のシリル基、置換もしくは無置換の炭素数1以上20以下のアルキル基、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6以上20以下のアリール基、または置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数3以上20以下のヘテロアリール基であり、
bは0以上7以下の整数であり、
cは0以上5以下の整数であり、
dは0以上8以下の整数であり、
eは0以上2以下の整数である。 - 前記化学式Aは、下記化学式3−1または下記化学式3−2で表される請求項1に記載の多環化合物。

Zは単結合、OまたはSである。 - 前記化学式2−2は、下記化学式5−1または下記化学式5−2で表される請求項1に記載の多環化合物。
- 前記多環化合物の一重項エネルギー準位と三重項エネルギー準位との差(ΔEST)は0.2eV以下である請求項1に記載の多環化合物。
- R1はフッ素原子、メチル基、t−ブチル基、置換もしくは無置換の環形成炭素数6以上20以下のアリールアミノ基、置換もしくは無置換のフェニル基、置換もしくは無置換のフェナントリル基、置換もしくは無置換のチオフェニル基、置換もしくは無置換のカルバゾリル基、または置換もしくは無置換のアクリジニル基である請求項1に記載の多環化合物。
- R2〜R5は、メチル基、または置換もしくは無置換のフェニル基であるか、または隣接する基と互いに結合してジベンゾスピロ環を形成する請求項1に記載の多環化合物。
- 前記化学式Aは、下記第1化合物群に示した化合物のうちからいずれか一つで表される請求項1に記載の多環化合物。
