Abstract
Description
本出願は、参照により全体として本明細書に組み込まれる、「METHODS AND DEVICES FOR TREATING STROKE」のタイトルで2016年1月4日に出願された米国仮特許出願第62/274,582号の優先権を主張する。
患者に薬剤を送達するため、および患者から物質を吸引するための方法および装置が、例えば脳卒中の治療のために、本明細書に開示される。
毎年、何百万人もが脳卒中を患っており、脳卒中は、障害および死亡の主な原因となっている。脳卒中により引き起こされる損傷は、早期の有効な治療によって減少され得る。しかしながら、既存の脳卒中の治療は、最適でない場合がある。例えば、1つの治療方法は、圧力を軽減し、脳卒中の結果として脳内に集まった血液を排液するために、患者の脳に脳室ドレーンを挿入することである。組織プラスミノーゲンアクチベーター(tPA)などの血栓溶解剤が、患者に投与されて、血栓を粉砕するのを助け、血栓を排出させることができる。この治療方法は、血栓溶解剤が非常にゆっくり送達されることを必要とし、ドレーンは、長期間(例えば、何時間または何日も)患者の体内にとどまらなければならず、これにより、手術に費やす時間または集中治療室で過ごす時間が長くなり、その結果、最適でない患者の転帰をもたらす。脳卒中を治療するための、改善された方法および装置が引き続き必要とされている。

前記注入ハウジングに選択的に連結されるように構成された近位挿入ハウジングを有する挿入スタイレットをさらに含む、システム。 - 請求項8に記載のシステムにおいて、
