Abstract
Description
摩擦低減添加剤(摩擦調整剤としても知られている)は燃料の消費を減少させるのに重要な潤滑剤成分であり、種々のかかる添加剤が当該技術において既に知られている。
有機モリブデン化合物は、中でも最も通常的な金属含有摩擦調整剤である。代表的な有機モリブデン化合物としては、モリブデンジチオカルバメート(MoDTC)、モリブデンジチオホスフェート(MoDTP)、モリブデンアミン、モリブデンアルコラート、及びモリブデンアルコールアミドが挙げられる。WO−A−98/26030、WO−A−99/31113、WO−A−99/47629、及びWO−A−99/66013においては、潤滑油組成物中において用いるための三核モリブデン化合物が記載されている。
過去において用いられている無灰(有機)摩擦調整剤は、通常は、脂肪酸と多価アルコールのエステル、脂肪酸アミド、脂肪酸と有機ジチオカルバメート又はジチオホスフェート化合物から誘導されるアミンを含む。
ここで驚くべきことに、有機モリブデン化合物及び有機ポリマー摩擦低減添加剤の組合せを含む潤滑油組成物によって、有機モリブデン化合物の減少したレベルを達成しながら向上した摩擦及び摩耗低減並びに向上した燃料経済性が与えられることが本発明者らによって見出された。

ポリオレフィンは、好ましくは、エチレン、プロピレン、ブテン、及びイソブテン、より好ましくはイソブテンのような2〜6個の炭素原子を有するモノオレフィンのポリマーから誘導され、かかるポリマーは15〜500、好ましくは50〜200炭素原子の鎖を含む。
反応の経過中において、疎水性及び親水性ポリマー亜単位の一部を結合させてブロックコポリマー単位を形成することができる。疎水性及び親水性ポリマー亜単位のいずれか又は両方に、それらを他の亜単位と結合させることを可能にする官能基を含ませることができる。例えば、疎水性ポリマー亜単位は、不飽和二酸又は無水物、例えば無水マレイン酸との反応によって二酸/無水物基を有するように誘導体化することができる。二酸/無水物は、エステル化によってヒドロキシル末端親水性ポリマー亜単位、例えばポリアルキレングリコールと反応させることができる。更なる例においては、疎水性ポリマー亜単位は、過酸、例えば過安息香酸又は過酢酸とのエポキシ化反応によって誘導体化することができる。エポキシドは、次にヒドロキシル及び/又は酸末端親水性ポリマー亜単位と反応させることができる。更なる例においては、ヒドロキシル基を有する親水性ポリマー亜単位を、不飽和モノカルボン酸、例えばビニル酸、具体的にはアクリル酸又はメタクリル酸とのエステル化によって誘導体化することができる。この誘導体化した親水性ポリマー亜単位は、次に遊離基共重合によってポリオレフィン疎水性ポリマー亜単位と反応させることができる。
本発明の一態様においては、有機ポリマー摩擦低減添加剤は、
(a)ポリオレフィン、ポリアクリル酸、及びポリスチレニルから選択される疎水性ポリマーを含む疎水性ポリマー亜単位;
(b)ポリエーテル、ポリエステル、ポリアミドから選択される親水性ポリマーを含む親水性ポリマー亜単位;及び
(d)連鎖停止基;
の反応生成物である。
本発明の別の態様においては、有機ポリマー摩擦低減添加剤は、
(a)ポリオレフィン、ポリアクリル酸、及びポリスチレニルから選択される疎水性ポリマーを含む疎水性ポリマー亜単位;
(b)ポリエーテル、ポリエステル、ポリアミドから選択される親水性ポリマーを含む親水性ポリマー亜単位;及び
(c)ポリマー亜単位を結合することができる少なくとも1つの骨格部分;
の反応生成物である。

有機ポリマー摩擦低減添加剤は、潤滑組成物の重量基準で0.2重量%〜5.0重量%のレベル、好ましくは0.3重量%〜3.0重量%、より好ましくは0.2重量%〜1.5重量%のレベルで存在させる。
本発明において用いる基油には、好都合には、1種類以上の鉱油及び/又は1種類以上の合成油の混合物を含ませることができる。
合成油としては、オレフィンオリゴマー(PAO)、二塩基酸エステル、ポリオールエステル、及び脱ロウワックス状ラフィネートのような炭化水素油が挙げられる。Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companiesによって"XHVI"(登録商標)の名称で販売されている合成炭化水素基油を好都合に用いることができる。
基油は、元素状イオウとして計算して、ASTM−D2622、ASTM−D4294、ASTM−D4927、又はASTM−D3120にしたがって測定して1.0重量%未満、好ましくは0.1重量%未満のイオウを含むことが更に好ましい。
好ましくは、本潤滑油組成物は、100℃において2〜80mm2/秒、より好ましくは3〜70mm2/秒、最も好ましくは4〜50mm2/秒の範囲の動粘度を有する。
好ましい態様においては、かかる酸化防止剤は、潤滑油組成物の全重量を基準として0.1〜5.0重量%の範囲の量、より好ましくは0.3〜3.0重量%の範囲の量、最も好ましくは0.5〜1.5重量%の範囲の量で存在させる。
好ましい態様においては、本潤滑油組成物に、単一の亜鉛ジチオホスフェート、或いは2種類以上の亜鉛ジチオホスフェートの組合せを耐摩耗添加剤として含ませることができ、この亜鉛ジチオホスフェート又はそれぞれの亜鉛ジチオホスフェートは、亜鉛ジアルキル、ジアリール、又はアルキルアリールジチオホスフェートから選択される。
によって好都合に表すことができる。
商業的に入手できる好適な亜鉛ジチオホスフェートの例としては、Lubrizol Corporationから"Lz 1097"及び"LZ 1395"の商品名で入手できるもの、Chevron Oroniteから"OLOA 267"及び"OLOA 269R"の商品名で入手できるもの、及びAfton Chemicalから"HITEC 7197"の商品名で入手できるもの;Lubrizol Corporationから"Lz 677A"、"Lz 1095"、及び"Lz 1371"の商品名で入手できるもの、Chevron Oroniteから"OLOA 262"の商品名で入手できるもの、及びAfton Chemicalから"HITEC 7169"の商品名で入手できるもののような亜鉛ジチオホスフェート;並びに、Lubrizol Corporationからから"Lz 1370"及び"Lz 1373"の商品名で入手できるもの、及びChevron Oroniteから"OLOA 260"の商品名で入手できるもののような亜鉛ジチオホスフェート;が挙げられる。
本発明の組成物中において、更なる又は別の耐摩耗添加剤を好都合に用いることができる。
しかしながら、洗浄剤として用いる金属の有機及び無機ベースの塩は本発明の好ましい態様における潤滑油組成物の硫酸灰分含量の一因となる可能性があるので、かかる添加剤の量は最小にする。
而して一態様においては、本発明の潤滑油組成物には1種類以上のサリチレート洗浄剤を含ませることができる。
用いることができる無灰分散剤の例としては、日本国特許1367796、1667140、1302811、及び1743435に開示されているポリアルケニルスクシンイミド及びポリアルケニルコハク酸エステルが挙げられる。好ましい分散剤としてはホウ素化スクシンイミドが挙げられる。
更に、アルケニルコハク酸又はそのエステル部分、ベンゾトリアゾールベースの化合物、及びチオジアゾールベースの化合物のような化合物を、本発明の潤滑油組成物中において腐食抑制剤として好都合に用いることができる。
本発明の潤滑油組成物中においてシール固定剤又はシール適合薬剤として好都合に用いることができる化合物としては、例えば商業的に入手できる芳香族エステルが挙げられる。
本発明は更に、摩擦を低減するための本明細書に記載の潤滑組成物の使用を提供する。
本発明は更に、燃料経済性を向上させるための本明細書に記載の潤滑組成物の使用を提供する。
成分の量は、組成物の全重量を基準とする重量%で与える。
MTM試験は、2002年1月の第13回国際摩擦学会議において発表されたR.I. Taylor, E. Nagatomi, N.R. Horswill, D.M. Jamesによる"A screener test for the fuel economy potential of engine lubricants"によって記載された。
ボール試験片は、直径19.05mmの研磨した鋼製ボールベアリングであった。ディスク試験片を、モーター駆動シャフト上に同心状に固定した。ディスク試験片を他のモーター駆動シャフト上に同心状に固定した。ボールをディスクに押し付けて、部品の回転及び歪曲が最小の点接触領域を生起させた。接触点において、ボール及びディスクの表面速度を調節することによって100%のスライド/ロール比を維持した。
新しいボール及び新しいディスクを用いて、それぞれの油を合計で20の試験スキャンだけ試験し、最後の3回のスキャンから摩擦の結果をとった。
通常の潤滑剤ブレンド手順を用いて、下表3に示す組成を有する更なる潤滑組成物(基準油B)を配合した。
議論:
潤滑形態は4つの主要なカテゴリーに分類される:(1)流体力学的形態:表面が完全に流体膜によって分離されている;(2)弾性流体力学的形態:表面が非常に薄い流体膜によって分離されている;(3)混合形態:表面が多少凸凹した接触状態で部分的に分離されている;(4)境界形態:流体膜が存在していたとしても、表面が大部分接触している。混合及び境界形態は、摩耗及び摩擦を低減させるためには化学的耐摩耗添加剤及び/又は摩擦調整剤などに頼る。
表2から分かるように、0.75%のポリマー有機摩擦調整剤を単独で基準油Aに加えると、混合形態における摩擦が減少するが、境界摩擦は増加するように見える。
ヒドロキシアルキルアミン摩擦調整剤(Adeka FM926)は、混合形態においてより有効であるが、境界摩擦の低減においては僅かに有効性が低いと思われる。
