Abstract

Claims (15)
- 各々が変換器のアレイを有する少なくとも2つのモジュールであって、前記少なくとも2つのモジュールは、互いに対して固定されており、各アレイの軸線がその両端間に定められ、前記アレイの前記軸線は互いにほぼ平行に方向付けられ、前記モジュールのうちの第1のモジュールのアレイは、前記モジュールのうちの第2のモジュールのアレイから前記第2のモジュールの前記アレイの前記軸線に対して平行な第1の方向にオフセットされており、前記軸線が意図されたテープ移動方向に対して直角に方向付けられた線に対して0.2°より大きい角度で方向付けられたときに前記第1のモジュールの前記変換器が前記意図されたテープ移動方向において前記第2のモジュールの前記変換器とほぼ位置合わせされるようになっている、少なくとも2つのモジュールと、テープに対して提示される変換器ピッチを制御するように前記モジュールを方向付けるための機構と、
を含む、装置。 - 2つのモジュールのみが存在する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記モジュールのうちの第3のモジュールが前記第1及び第2のモジュール間に配置され、前記第3のモジュールのアレイが、前記第1のモジュールの前記アレイから前記第1の方向にオフセットされ、前記第1のモジュールの前記アレイに対する前記第3のモジュールの前記アレイのオフセットの程度が、前記第1のモジュールの前記アレイに対する前記第2のモジュールの前記アレイのオフセットの程度より小さい、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記第1及び第2のモジュールは、データ書込み用に構成され、データ読取り用には構成されておらず、前記第3のモジュールは、データ読取り用に構成され、データ書込み用には構成されていない、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記第1及び第2のモジュールは、データ読取り用に構成され、データ書込み用には構成されておらず、前記第3のモジュールは、データ書込み用に構成され、データ読取り用には構成されていない、請求項3に記載の装置。
- 前記モジュールを方向付けるための前記機構を前記テープの伸長の状態に基づいて制御するように構成された制御装置をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記モジュールを方向付けるための前記機構を前記テープのスキューに基づいて制御するように構成された制御装置をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 磁気媒体を前記モジュールの上を通して送るための駆動機構をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記少なくとも2つのモジュールの隣接する対のテープ支持面の間に延びるスペーサ部材をさらに含み、前記スペーサ部材は、一方のモジュール上の前記変換器のアレイを他方のモジュール上の前記変換器のアレイから磁気的に遮蔽するための磁気遮蔽部を含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記意図されるテープ移動方向で前記少なくとも2つのモジュールと概ね位置合わせされた少なくとも2つの第2のモジュールの第2の組をさらに含み、前記第2のモジュールの各々が変換器のアレイを有し、前記少なくとも2つの第2のモジュールは、互いに対して固定されており、
テープに対して提示される変換器ピッチを制御するために前記第2のモジュールを方向付けるための第2の機構をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の装置。 - 磁気媒体を前記モジュールの上を通して送るための駆動機構と、
前記モジュールを方向付けるための機構を前記テープの伸長の状態に基づいて制御するように構成された制御装置と、
を含む、請求項1に記載の装置。 - ヘッドを方向付けるためのコンピュータ・プログラムであって、制御装置によって読取り可能/実行可能なプログラム・コードを含み、前記プログラム・コードが、
前記制御装置によって、磁気テープの読取り及び/又は書込みのための変換器の所望のピッチを決定し、
機構にヘッドを方向付けさせて前記所望のピッチを達成させるためのものであり、前記ヘッドは、意図されたテープ移動方向において互いに概ね位置合わせされた少なくとも2つの対向するモジュールを有し、前記2つのモジュールの位置は互いに対して固定されており、前記各モジュールは、前記変換器のアレイを有し、各アレイの軸線がその両端間に定められ、前記モジュールのうちの第1のモジュールの前記アレイは、前記モジュールのうちの第2のモジュールの前記アレイから前記第2のモジュールの前記アレイの前記軸線に対して平行な第1の方向にオフセットされており、前記軸線が前記意図されたテープ移動方向に対して直角に方向付けられた線に対して0.2°より大きく約10°より小さい角度で方向付けられたときに前記第1のモジュールの前記変換器が前記意図されたテープ移動方向において前記第2のモジュールの前記変換器とほぼ位置合わせされるようになっている、

- 前記ヘッドが3つのモジュールを有し、前記モジュールのうちの第3のモジュールが、前記第1及び第2のモジュール間に配置され、前記第3のモジュールのアレイが、前記第1のモジュールの前記アレイから前記第1の方向にオフセットされ、前記第1のモジュールの前記アレイに対する前記第3のモジュールの前記アレイのオフセットの程度が、前記第1のモジュールの前記アレイに対する前記第2のモジュールの前記アレイのオフセットの程度より小さい、請求項12に記載のコンピュータ・プログラム。
