Abstract
Description
1つの例示において、前記粘着剤層の第1表面が偏光子に付着していて、第2表面は、偏光板を液晶パネルに付着させるための粘着表面であることができる。また、上記で第1表面が第2表面に比べて高い引張弾性率を示すことができる。
上記のように、粘着剤層において偏光子に付着する第1表面の引張弾性率を高く設定し、高温または高湿条件のような苛酷条件で偏光子の収縮または膨脹現象を抑制することができる。また、偏光板を液晶パネルのガラス基板などに付着する第2表面は、低い引張弾性率を有するようにして、被着体に対して優れた濡れ性を有するようにすることができる。
窒素ガスが還流され、温度調節が容易となるように冷却装置が設置された1L反応器に、n−ブチルアクリレート(BA)98重量部及び2−ヒドロキシエチルアクリレート(2−HEA)2重量部を投入した。次いで、反応器に溶剤としてエチルアセテート(EAc;ethylaceate)180重量部を投入し、酸素除去のために窒素ガスを60分間パージングした。その後、反応器の温度を67℃に維持し、反応開始剤であるアゾビスイソブチロニトリル(AIBN)0.05重量部を投入し、8時間反応させた。反応後に、エチルアセテートで希釈し、固形分濃度が30重量%であり、重量平均分子量が100万であり、分子量分布が4.9であるアクリル重合体(A)を製造した。
単量体組成を下記表1のように変更したことを除いて、製造例1の方式に準じて、アクリル重合体(B)〜(D)を製造した。製造された重合体の重量平均分子量及び分子量分布を下記表1にまとめた。
第1粘着剤層の製造
アクリル重合体(A)100重量部、多官能性架橋剤(TDI系イソシアネート、Coronate L、日本ポリウレタン(日本国)社製)3重量部、多官能性アクリレート(3官能性ウレタンアクリレート、Aronix M−315)100重量部、光開始剤(Irg 184、ヒドロキシシクロヘキシルフェニルケトン、チバスペシャルティケミカルズ(スイス)製)3重量部及びシランカップリング剤(M812、β−シアノアセチル基を有するシランカップリング剤、LG化学(韓国)製)0.1重量部を、固形分濃度を30重量%となるように溶剤に配合し、第1粘着剤組成物を製造した。次いで、製造された粘着剤組成物を離型処理されたPET(poly(ethylene terephthalate))離型フィルム(厚さ:38μm、MRF−38、三菱社製)の離型処理面に乾燥後の厚さが25μmとなるようにコーティングし、110℃のオーブンで3分間乾燥させた。次いで、乾燥したコーティング層に追加に離型処理されたPET離型フィルム(厚さ:38μm、MRF−38、三菱社製)の離型処理面をラミネートする。次いで、下記条件でUV(ultraviolet ray)を照射し、2枚のPET離型フィルムの間で第1粘着剤層を形成した。形成された第1粘着剤層の引張弾性率(25℃)は、300MPaであった。本実施例で引張弾性率は、後述する方式によって測定される。

アクリル重合体(A)100重量部、多官能性架橋剤(TDI系イソシアネート、Coronate L、日本ポリウレタン(日)社製)0.01重量部及びシランカップリング剤(M812、β−シアノアセチル基を有するシランカップリング剤、LG化学(韓国)製)0.1重量部を、固形分濃度を30重量%となるように溶剤に配合し、第2粘着剤組成物を製造した。次いで、製造された粘着剤組成物を離型処理されたPET離型フィルム(厚さ:38μm、MRF−38、三菱社製)の離型処理面に乾燥後の厚さが25μmとなるようにコーティングし、110℃のオーブンで3分間乾燥させて第2粘着剤層を形成し、上記に離型処理されたPET離型フィルム(厚さ:38μm、MRF−38、三菱社製)を追加にラミネートした。形成された第2粘着剤層の引張弾性率(25℃)は、0.06MPaであった。
次いで、前記製造された第1粘着剤層と前記第2粘着剤層を互いにラミネートし、2層構造の粘着剤層を形成した。
ポリビニルアルコール系樹脂フィルムを延伸し、ヨードで染色した後、ホウ酸(boric acid)水溶液で処理して偏光子を製造した。次いで、偏光子の一面に60μm厚さのTAC(Triacetyl cellulose)フィルムを水系ポリビニルアルコール系接着剤で付着した。次いで、前記ポリビニルアルコール系偏光子においてTACフィルムが付着していない面に水系ポリビニルアルコール系接着剤を使用して前記製造された2層構造の粘着剤層をラミネートして偏光板を製造した。この過程で、第1粘着剤層がポリビニルアルコール系偏光子側に配置されるようにした(偏光板構造:TACフィルム→水系ポリビニルアルコール系接着剤→偏光子→水系ポリビニルアルコール系接着剤→第1粘着剤層→第2粘着剤層→PET離型フィルム)。
第1及び第2粘着剤層の構成を下記表2及び表3のように変更したことを除いて、実施例1と同一の方式で偏光板を製造した。但し、比較例の場合、2層構造の粘着剤を使用せず、第1粘着剤の単層構造の粘着剤を使用した。
1.引張弾性率の評価
本明細書で粘着剤の引張弾性率は、ASTM D638で規定された方式によって引張による応力−変形試験法を通じて測定するか、直接引張弾性率を測定しにくい場合には、下記方式で貯蔵弾性率を測定し、下記換算式によって換算して求める。具体的には、実施例または比較例で製造されるものであって、PET離型フィルム(厚さ:38μm、MRF−38)、粘着剤層及びPET離型フィルム(厚さ:38μm、MRF−38)の積層構造を有するサンプルを長さ7cm、幅1cmのサイズのdog bone typeの試験片に裁断し、試験片の両末端を引張実験用ジグ(Jig)で固定し、前記ASTM D638によって引張弾性率を測定する。このような引張弾性率の測定条件は、下記の通りである。

粘着剤層を15cm×25cm×25μm(横×縦×厚さ)のサイズに裁断し、裁断された粘着剤層を5層に積層させる。次いで、積層された粘着剤層を直径が8mmの円形に裁断した後、ガラスを利用して、圧縮した状態で、一晩放置し、各層間の界面でのウェット性(wetting)を向上させることによって、積層時に生じた気泡を除去して試料を製造する。次いで、試料をパラレルプレート(parallel plate)上に載置し、ギャップを調整した後、Normal & Torqueのゼロ点を合わせて、Normal forceの安定化を確認した後、下記条件で貯蔵弾性率を測定し、下記換算式によって引張弾性率を求める。

前記換算式でEは、引張弾性率を示し、Gは、貯蔵弾性率を示す。
偏光板を25mm×100mm(幅×長さ)のサイズに裁断し、試験片を製造した。次いで、試験片からPET離型フィルムを剥離し、ラミネータで無アルカリガラスに粘着剤層を介して偏光板試験片を付着した。次いで、オートクレーブ(50℃、0.5気圧)で約20分間圧着処理し、恒温恒湿条件(23℃、50%相対湿度)で25時間保管した。次いで、TA機器(texture analyser、ステイブルマイクロシステム(英国)社製)を使用して、前記偏光板を無アルカリガラスから300mm/minの剥離速度及び180度の剥離角度で剥離しながら剥離力を測定した。また、再剥離性は、下記基準で評価した。
〈再剥離性評価基準〉
○:付着1日後に剥離力が800N/25mm以下
△:付着1日後に剥離力が1,000N/25mm以上
×:付着1日後に剥離力が2,000N/25mm以上
実施例及び比較例で製造された偏光板を90mm×170mm(横×縦)のサイズに裁断した試験片を各実施例及び比較例別に2枚準備した。次いで、2枚の試験片をガラス基板(110mm×190mm×0.7mm=横×縦×厚さ)の両面に付着するが、光学吸収軸が互いにクロスするように付着し、サンプルを製造した。付着時に加えられた圧力は、約5Kg/cm2であり、気泡または異物が界面に発生しないようにクリーンルームで作業を行った。
サンプルの耐湿熱特性は、サンプルを60℃の温度及び90%の相対湿度の条件下で1,000時間放置した後、粘着界面での気泡または剥離の発生有無を観察した。
また、耐熱特性は、サンプルを80℃の温度条件下で1,000時間放置した後、粘着界面での気泡または剥離の発生有無を観察した。
耐湿熱または耐熱耐久信頼性の測定直前に製造されたサンプルを常温で24時間放置し、評価を進行した。評価条件は、下記のようである。

実施例及び比較例で製造された偏光板を90mm×170mm(横×縦)のサイズに裁断した試験片をガラス基板(110mm×190mm×0.7mm=横×縦×厚さ)の片面に付着し、サンプルを製造した。付着時に加えられた圧力は、約5Kg/cm2であり、気泡または異物が界面に発生しないようにクリーンルームで作業を行った。次いで、製造されたサンプルを60℃の温度に水に投入し、24時間放置した後、取り出して、気泡または剥離の発生有無を観察し、下記基準によって耐水性を評価した。
〈耐水性評価基準〉
○:気泡及び剥離発生なし

実施例及び比較例で製造した偏光板を22インチLCDモニター(LG Philips LCD社製)に光学吸収軸が互いにクロスした状態で付着し、恒温恒湿条件(23℃、50%相対湿度)で24時間保管し、80℃の温度で200時間放置した。その後、暗室でバックライトを利用して前記モニターに光を照射し、光透過性の均一性を下記の基準によって評価した。
〈光透過均一性評価基準〉
◎:モニターの4周辺部で光透過性の不均一現象が目視で判断されない場合
○:モニターの4周辺部で光透過性の不均一現象が目視で少し観察される場合
△:モニターの4周辺部で光透過性の不均一現象が目視で多少観察される場合
×:モニターの4周辺部で光透過性の不均一現象が目視で多量観察される場合
アクリル重合体の重量平均分子量及び分子量分布は、GPCを使用して、以下の条件で測定した。検量線の製作には、Agilent systemの標準ポリスチレンを使用して、測定結果を換算した。
〈重量平均分子量測定条件〉
測定器:Agilent GPC(Agilent 1200 series, 米国)
カラム:PL Mixed B 2個連結
カラム温度:40℃
溶離液:テトラヒドロフラン
流速:1.0mL/min
濃度:〜2mg/mL(100μL injection)

12a、12b、23 保護フィルム

Claims (16)
- 偏光子と;前記偏光子の少なくとも一面に付着していて、また、第1表面と第2表面を有し、前記第1表面及び第2表面は、互いに異なる引張弾性率を示す粘着剤層と;を含む偏光板。
- 粘着剤層の第1表面が偏光子に付着していて、第2表面は、偏光板を液晶パネルに付着させるための粘着表面である、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 第1表面が第2表面に比べて高い引張弾性率を示す、請求項2に記載の偏光板。
- 偏光子は、少なくとも一面に保護フィルムが付着していない偏光子であり、粘着剤層の第1表面は、前記偏光子の保護フィルムが付着していない面に付着している、請求項2に記載の偏光板。
- 偏光子は、ポリビニルアルコール系偏光子である、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 第1表面は、25℃での引張弾性率が1MPa〜1,000MPaである、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 第2表面は、25℃での引張弾性率が0.01MPa〜1.0MPaである、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 粘着剤層は、第1表面を形成する第1粘着剤層と;第2表面を形成する第2粘着剤層と;を含む、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 粘着剤層は、厚さが10μm〜80μmである、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 第1粘着剤層は、多官能性架橋剤によって架橋されたアクリル重合体を含む架橋構造及び重合された多官能性アクリレートを含む架橋構造を含む、請求項8に記載の偏光板。
- 偏光子の少なくとも一面に直接付着している接着剤層をさらに含み、粘着剤層の第1表面は、前記接着剤層に直接付着している、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 接着剤層は、ポリビニルアルコール系接着剤;アクリル系接着剤;ビニルアセテート系接着剤;ウレタン系接着剤;ポリエステル系接着剤;ポリオレフィン系接着剤;ポリビニルアルキルエーテル系接着剤;ゴム系接着剤;塩化ビニル−ビニルアセテート系接着剤;スチレン−ブタジエン−スチレン接着剤;スチレン−ブタジエン−スチレンの水素添加物系接着剤;エチレン系接着剤;及びアクリル酸エステル系接着剤よりなる群から選択された1つ以上を含む、請求項11に記載の偏光板。
- 接着剤層は、熱硬化型接着剤組成物、常温硬化型接着剤組成物、湿気硬化型接着剤組成物または光硬化型接着剤組成物を硬化された状態で含む、請求項11に記載の偏光板。
- 偏光子の粘着剤層が付着していない面に付着した保護フィルムをさらに含む、請求項1に記載の偏光板。
- 液晶パネルと;前記液晶パネルの一面または両面に付着している請求項1に記載の偏光板と;を含む液晶表示装置。
- 液晶パネルが受動マトリックス方式のパネル;能動マトリックス方式のパネル;横電界型パネルまたは垂直配向型パネルである、請求項15に記載の液晶表示装置。
