Abstract
Description
本出願は、「改善された加硫後の接合」と題する2012年7月25日に出願された米国仮特許出願第61/675370号の米国特許法第119条(e)に基づく優先権を主張し、米国仮特許出願第61/675370号の開示は、出典明示により本明細書に援用される。
本発明の好ましい実施態様において、基材接着剤はエポキシ系接着剤を含む。本発明のエポキシ化合物は、エポキシ(オキシラン)基を含有するいかなる材料であり得る。含まれるエポキシ樹脂は、エポキシクレゾールノボラック、エポキシフェノールノボラック及びこれらのうちのいずれかとビスフェノールAエポキシ樹脂とのブレンドである。エポキシ化合物の単量体及びポリマー型のエポキシドは、脂肪族、脂環式、芳香族又は複素環であり得る。1分子当たりのエポキシ基の「平均」数は、エポキシ含有材料中のエポキシ基の総数を存在するエポキシ分子の総数で割ることにより決定される。有用なエポキシ材料は、一般に、1分子当たり平均して少なくとも1.5個の重合可能なエポキシ基を含有する。好ましくは、1分子当たり2個以上のエポキシ基が存在する。重合体のエポキシドは、末端エポキシ基を有する直鎖状ポリマー(例えば、ポリオキシアルキレングリコールのジグリシジルエーテル)、骨格オキシラン単位を有するポリマー(例えば、ポリブタジエンポリエポキシド)、及びペンダントエポキシ基を有するポリマー(例えば、グリシジルメタクリレートのポリマー又はコポリマー)を含む。エポキシドは純粋な化合物であり得るが、一般に、1分子当たり1個、2個又はより多くのエポキシ基を含有する混合物である。
本発明の更なる実施態様において、基材接着剤はアクリル系接着剤を含む。本発明の実施態様に従う好ましいフリーラジカル−重合可能なモノマーは、--C=C--基の存在により特徴づけられるオレフィンモノマーを含む。代表的なオレフィンモノマーは、メタクリル酸メチル、メタクリル酸エチル、メタクリル酸ブチル、アクリル酸メチル、アクリル酸ブチル、アクリル酸シクロヘキシル、アクリル酸ヘキシル、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル、アクリル酸ラウリル、アクリル酸エチル、ジメタクリル酸ジエチレングリコール、メタクリル酸ジシクロペンタジエニルオキシエチル、メタクリル酸シクロヘキシル、メタクリル酸ラウリル、メタクリル酸グリシジル及びメタクリル酸テトラヒドロフルフリル等のアクリル酸(メタクリル酸)エステル;メタクリル酸;アクリル酸;イタコン酸、アクリロニトリル、メタクリロニトリル、アクリルアミド及びメタクリルアミド等の置換アクリル酸(メタクリル酸);スチレン;ビニルスチレン、クロロスチレン、メチルスチレン及びn-ブチルスチレン等の置換スチレン;酢酸ビニル;塩化ビニリデン;並びに2,3-ジクロロ-1,3-ブタジエン及び2-クロロ-1,3-ブタジエン等のブタジエンが挙げられる。その他のオレフィンモノマーとして、マレイン酸エステル;フマル酸エステル;並びにスチレン、クロロスチレン、メチルスチレン、ブチルスチレン及びビニルスチレン等のスチレン化合物を含む。
本発明の更なる実施態様において、基材接着剤はポリウレタン系接着剤を含む。本発明のポリウレタン接着剤は、ある種のポリヒドロキシ化合物と、接着剤接着を生成するのに利用することができるイソシアネート化合物、好ましくは多官能性イソシアネートとから調製されるポリウレタンプレポリマーに基づく。
本発明の更なる実施態様において、エラストマー−プライマーは、ハロゲン化ポリオレフィン系プライマーを含む。ハロゲン化ポリオレフィンは、任意の天然又は合成ハロゲン化ポリオレフィンエラストマーを含む。ハロゲン化ポリオレフィンエラストマーで用いられるハロゲンは、フッ素も使用され得るが、典型的には塩素又は臭素である。ハロゲンの混合物も、ハロゲン含有ポリオレフィンエラストマーが一種よりも多いハロゲン置換を有する場合に用いられ得る。ハロゲンの量は重要とは思われず、基礎となるエラストマー又はポリマーの性質に依存して約3重量パーセントくらい低くから70重量パーセントより多くまでの範囲であり得る。ハロゲン化ポリオレフィン及びそれらの調製は当業者によく知られている。
(R)m−Ar−(NO)2
式中、Arはフェニレン及びナフタレンからなる群から選択され、Rは、1から20個の炭素原子を有するアルキル、シクロアルキル、アリール、アラルキル、アルカリール、アリールアミン、及びアルコキシ基、アミノ又はハロゲンからなる群から選択される1価の有機基であり、好ましくは1から8個の炭素原子を有するアルキル基であり、mは、0、1、2、3又は4であり、好ましくは0である。
イソプロピルアルコール(IPA)で最初に拭かれ、いかなる遊離性の表面汚染物質も除去されている1”×5”×1/4”の加硫ゴム試験片の中心部に、EP−1がブラシで塗布された。EP−1は、2時間をわずかに超えて室温で乾燥された。E−コーティングされたスチール試験片(1”×5”)はマスクを外され、1”×1”の中心領域を露出させた。SA−Aは、スチール試験片の中心領域上に分注され、次いで、0.030”のステンレス鋼シムを使用して接合線の厚さを調整しつつ調製されたゴム試験片上に置かれた。組み合わせた試料は、加熱されたプレス機中に置かれ、≦300°Fに設定された温度でのみ上部から加熱された。プレス機中でシムを使用し、プレートギャップの調整を補助した。硬化時間は≦5分であった。
SA−A接着剤の一部が接合線から絞り出され、4分で不完全に硬化され、3分及び2分では未硬化であることがわかった。
試料は、前述のように調製され、ゴムに塗布されたエラストマー−プライマー及びe−コーティングされたスチール上に塗布されたSA−Aにより、300°Fで5分の硬化時間を使用して接合された。次いで、試料は、試験のため120℃に加熱された。
試料は、前述のようにe−コーティングされたスチール試験片上に塗布されたSA−Aを用いて調製され、250°Fで5分間接合され、次いで、室温及び120℃引張試験された。
試料は、前述のようにエラストマー−プライマーとしてEP−6を、及び基材接着剤としてSA−Aを使用して調製された。試料は、以下に記載した温度で硬化され、次いで室温で引張試験された。
試料は、前述のように基材接着剤としてSA−Aを、及びエラストマー−プライマーとしてEP−1を使用し調製された。EP−1の目標乾燥膜厚は1−2ミルであった。組合わされた試験片は、プラテンプレス機中、5分の硬化時間300°Fのみでスチール側から加熱された。SA−A接合線の厚さを低減するため、圧力は様々なレベルで印加された。試料は室温で乾燥され、次いで90°の角度で引っ張られた。次いで、スチール試験片は断面に切断され、200倍の倍率でデジタル顕微鏡を使用して接着膜厚が測定された。
試料は前述のように、エポキシ系SA−Aを2種のウレタン系接着剤SA−B及びSA−Cに置き換えて調製され、以下に記載するように試験された。ポリウレタン接着剤は、300°Fの加熱硬化前に、組み合わされた部品中に室温(RT−20℃+/−5℃)で様々な程度に硬化された。
複合試験片の光沢のある平滑面を傷つけ/砂で磨き、次いで1”×1”領域でマスクを外した。加硫ゴム試験片をIPAで拭き、EP−1の薄層(1−2ミルのDFT)を塗布して室温で乾燥させた。SA−Aは、複合試験片のマスク領域に塗布され、次いで0.030”のスチールシムを使用して接合線の厚さを調整しつつゴムに組合わされた。一個の試験片は、8分間≦300°Fで直ちに硬化された。他の試験片は、>24時間室温で硬化され、次いで8分間≦300°Fに加熱された。室温まで冷却した後、ゴムは引っ張られた。両方の試験片が100%Rの引き裂き破壊を生じ、ゴムと複合基材との間に優れた接着性を示した。
接合試験片の環境耐性は、ゴムA及びゴムB(市販の天然ゴム配合物)、並びにHC−130(内製の天然ゴム配合物)を含む3種の異なるゴム試料と共に試験された。リン酸亜鉛化スチール試験片は基材として用いられ、表示されるゴムプライマーが1.5ミルのDFTで塗布される前に、ゴムは、キシレン拭取で準備された。SA−A接着剤が塗布され、接合線が300°Fに達した時点で部品を5分間硬化させた。

- (a)ウレタン系、アクリル系又はエポキシ系接着剤のうち少なくとも一種を含む基材接着剤、及び
(b)ハロゲン化ポリオレフィンを含み、任意選択的にニトロソ化合物も含むエラストマー−プライマー
を含む、2液型接着システム。 - 前記ハロゲン化ポリオレフィンが、臭素化ポリ(ジクロロブタジエン)を含む、請求項1に記載の2液型接着システム。
- 前記ハロゲン化ポリオレフィンが、塩素化天然ゴムを含む、請求項1に記載の2液型接着システム。

- 前記エラストマー−プライマーが、フェノール樹脂を本質的に含まないか、又は含まない、請求項1に記載の2液型接着システム。
- 前記エラストマー−プライマーが、ビスマレイミド材料を含む、請求項1に記載の2液型接着システム。
- 前記エラストマー−プライマーが、溶剤系プライマーを含む、請求項1に記載の2液型接着システム。
- 前記エラストマー−プライマーが、水性プライマーを含む、請求項1に記載の2液型接着システム。
- 前記エラストマー−プライマーが加硫エラストマー部分に塗布されており、且つ、前記基材接着剤が金属部分に塗布されている、請求項1に記載の2液型接着システム。
- エラストマー部分と金属部分とが接触されており、その結果、エラストマー−プライマーと基材接着剤とが互いに接触して接合部品を形成する、請求項16に記載の2液型接着システム。
- 接合部品が、ASTM D 429に従って90°の角度において100℃を超える温度で引っ張られる場合に少なくとも90%のゴム保持率を示す、請求項17に記載の2液型接着システム。
- (a)加硫エラストマーを供給すること、
(b)エラストマー−プライマー組成物がハロゲン化ポリオレフィン及びジニトロソベンゼンを含み、加硫エラストマーにエラストマー−プライマー組成物を塗布すること、
(c)接着する基材を供給すること、
(d)基材接着剤がエポキシ系接着剤、アクリル系接着剤又はウレタン系接着剤のうち少なくとも一種を含み、基材接着剤を基材に塗布すること、
(e)エラストマー−プライマーをコーティングした加硫エラストマーを、基材接着剤をコーティングした基材に接触させ、その結果、エポキシ接着剤の少なくとも一部がハロゲン化ポリオレフィンプライマーの少なくとも一部と接触して部品を形成すること
を含む、加硫後のエラストマーの接合方法。 - (f)前記部品を加熱してエラストマー−プライマーを硬化させる工程を更に含む、請求項19に記載の方法。
- 前記部品を約5分にわたり少なくとも250°Fに加熱する、請求項20に記載の方法。
- 前処理工程を経ることなくエラストマー−プライマーをエラストマーに塗布する、請求項19に記載の方法。
