Claims (16)
- 複数の吸気口経路および複数の排気口経路を画定する複数の内部壁であって、全ての前記内部壁が前記吸気口経路と前記排気口経路との間に配置され、前記内部壁が前記吸気口経路の断面の外周および前記排気口経路の断面の外周を画定する、複数の前記内部壁を含むハニカム状フィルタであって、
前記吸気口経路の前記断面の外周が多角形の形状を有し、前記断面の外周が吸気口外周長を有し、
前記排気口経路のそれぞれの前記断面の外周が前記多角形の形状を有し、2対の内部壁が2つの対向する鋭角を形成し、前記断面積が排気口外周長を有し、かつ前記排気口経路の前記断面の外周によって画定される前記排気口経路の断面積に対する前記吸気口経路の前記断面の外周によって画定される前記吸気口経路の前記断面積の比が1.0より大きい、ハニカム状フィルタ。 - 前記吸気口外周長は前記排気口外周長に等しい、請求項1に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記吸気口経路の前記断面の外周は、長さが等しい4つの辺、および約90度に等しい4つの角を有する、請求項1から2に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記排気口経路の前記断面の外周は、長さが等しい4つの辺を有する、請求項1から3に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記排気口経路の前記断面の外周の前記鋭角は好ましくは約50度以上である、請求項1から4に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記排気口経路の前記断面の外周の前記鋭角は約55度から約85度である、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記吸気口経路および前記排気口経路は、前記吸気口経路の全ての前記内部壁が前記隣接している排気口経路と共同で共有されるように配置される、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 排気口経路の前記断面積に対する前記吸気口経路の前記断面積の比は、2.0未満である、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記吸気口経路の表面積は、前記吸気口外周長に長手方向における前記吸気口経路の前記内部壁の長さを乗じたものとして定義され、
前記排気口経路の表面積は、前記排気口外周長に長手方向における前記排気口経路の前記内部壁の長さを乗じたものとして定義され、
前記排気口経路の前記表面積に対する前記吸気口経路の前記表面積の比は、約1.0である、
請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。 - 長手方向において前記吸気口経路の前記内部壁の長さと前記排気口経路の前記内部壁の長さは本質的に同じ寸法である、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記吸気口経路の容積は、前記吸気口経路の前記断面積に長手方向における前記吸気口経路の前記内部壁の長さを乗じたものとして定義され、
前記排気口経路の容積は、前記排気口経路の前記断面積に長手方向における前記排気口経路の前記内部壁の長さを乗じたものとして定義され、
フィルタの相対総容積は、
(V)は全ての前記吸気口経路の容積および全ての前記排気口経路の容積の和によって定義される総容積であり、
(Vmax)は全ての前記吸気口経路の容積および全ての前記排気口経路の最大容積の和の最大値を有し、

- 前記吸気口経路の数および前記排気口経路の数は、実質的に同一である、請求項1から14のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
- 前記フィルタはディーゼルエンジン排気粒子フィルタとして有用である、請求項1から15のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム状フィルタ。
