Abstract
Description
図1は、流体回路アセンブリ10を形成するための第1および第2の流体回路またはサブアセンブリそれぞれ16および18の一部として図示されている二つの流体導管の14a,bを接合する接続または合体12を含んでいる、流体回路アセンブリ10の一例を図示する。各流体流回路またはサブアセンブリ16および18は、追加のチューブ、容器、バルブ、分離チャンバー、および特定の用途に望まれる他の選択された処理または貯蔵装置を含むことができる。図示するように、各回路またはサブアセンブリの流体導管14a,bは、各自一以上のチューブ流体流回路20a,bおよび流体容器22a,bを含むことができるが、しかし各回路またはサブアセンブリの正確な部品は用途が必要とするように変化することができ、そして流体容器は一方または両方の流体導管において任意である。

図4−8から見られるように、図示したシーリング部材26a,bは、各自細長い長方形のパネルであり、そして好ましくは、しかし必要ではないがパネルの一端近くの偏心位置のような位置においてそれぞれの導管14a,bの一端へ接合されている。この位置決めは、パネルの残りの部分を後で記載する目的のため把持または他のように係合する容易性を残す。
図4−9は、流体流サブアセンブリ16および18が個々に組み立てられ、そして所望により事前滅菌された後、無菌流体流アセンブリを形成するためそれらがどのように合体されるかを図解する。図4を参照すると、導管14a,bは、各自導管の先端を取り付け具から突出させてそれぞれの溶接もしくは接合取り付け具またはホルダー(この図には示さず)上に一時的に取り付けることができる。溶接または接合取り付け具は任意の適した特定構造または材料のものでよいが、しかし好ましくはシーリング部材26a,bの遠方表面を突き合わせ関係にして導管14a,bの開放端を軸方向に整列させるように構成される。
図10−15は、流体流導管14または流れ回路または流体流サブアセンブリ間に好ましくは無菌態様で接続を形成するための記載した方法を実施するための一般に40で指示した器具または装置の一つのバージョンを図示する。概して、装置40は二つの導管ホルダー42a,bと、パワー源44(図10に見られる)と、そしてシーリング部材ホルダーまたは引っ張り具46とを含み、装置の操作は、例えば後で記載する作業のシーケンスまたはその適切な一部を実行するようにプログラムされたプログラム可能なマイクロプロセッサーを使用するコントローラーによって自動的にコントロールすることができる。
今や図10−15に示した装置を使用する無菌接続の形成方法へ転ずると、図10は装填ステップが取られていない装置を示している。導管ホルダー42aおよび42bは装填位置に離れており、そしてシーリング部材ホルダー46は導管ホルダーから離れている。
図16および17は、無菌接続用途に対して多分好ましい構造として現在意図されている、導管14a,bとシーリング部材26a,bの具体例を図示する。そこに示されているように、導管14a,bは内部の内腔もしくはボアを有する中空チューブ状構造であり、そしてポリプロピレン(PP)材料か、または導管が溶融した時滅菌温度に達しおよび/または越えたことを確実にすることを助ける、好ましくは滅菌温度またそれより高い溶融温度を有する他の適切な材料でつくられる。チューブの寸法は特定の用途に必要なように変動し得る。図示したサンプルは、約4.1mmの内径と、約6mmの外径を有する。
図18は、流体回路アセンブリ70を形成するため、二つの流体流回路またはサブアセンブリ74を合体する接続アセンブリ72を含んでいる流体回路アセンブリ70の一例を図示する。各流体回路またはサブアセンブリ74および76は、特定の使用または最終用途のため記載したような、図示しないチューブ、容器、バルブ、分離チャンバーおよび他の選択した流体処理また貯蔵装置を含むことができる。最も広い意味でこの具体例は無菌接続に限定されない。しかしながらそれは、使い捨て無菌医療用流体流アセンブリのような、無菌流体流アセンブリまたはシステムの前もって滅菌された部品、流れ回路またはサブアセンブリ間に無菌接続の形成に特別の用途および利益を有することが認められるであろう。
好ましくは二つの前もって滅菌された流体流回路またはサブアセンブリの無菌接続による流体流アセンブリ70の形成方法は、本主題の特に有利な局面の一つである。この方法は、商業的販売のための製品の製造コースにある製造設備において、顧客またはユーザーが所望の構成に製品部品を接合することを許容する現場において、または他の目的のような任意の適切な環境において使用することができる。得られる流れ回路アセンブリは、血液、食塩水およびデキストロースのような静脈内溶液、無菌水、抗凝固剤、血液成分保存液または任意の他の所望の流体を含む医療用流体のものであることができる。もっと広い点においては、流体は気体であることもできる。

本主題の他の局面に従えば、ここの滅菌/溶接時間は、全体または適切な部分において抗微生物性を有するシーリング部材を使用する上の装置、システムおよび方法のどれにおいても短縮することができる。有意な抗微生物性を有する表面を持ったシーリング部材の使用は、理論上、他のタイプのシーリング部材に比較して滅菌加熱時間を50%またはそれ以上短縮することが可能である。
Claims (117)
- 第1および第2の流体流回路を流体流回路アセンブリを形成するように接合する方法であって、各流体流回路は内腔およびポリマー材料で終わっている開放端を有する流体流導管と、そして該流れ導管へ取り付けられ、その開放端をシールするシーリング部材を含んでおり、そして少なくとも一つのシーリング部材は少なくとも一つの加熱エレメントを含んでおり;
前記方法は、
(a)開放端のポリマー材料を少なくとも一つの加熱エレメントを加熱することによって溶融し;
(b)シーリング部材と該シーリング部材がシールされている開放端を相対的に動かし、該開放端を露出させ;そして
(c)溶融している間に開放端を合体し、流体流回路の間にそれらの間の流体流を許容する接合を形成する;
ことを含む方法。 - シーリング部材の各自は、それぞれの導管の開放ポリマー端へ取り付けられたパネルを含み、該パネルの少なくとも一つは加熱エレメントを形成する金属層を含み;該方法は、
それぞれのパネルを面対面接触させて導管のポリマー端を一般に軸方向整列に配置し;

(ii)導管の開放端をシールするシーリング部材を含み;

- ハウジングは、非シーリング位置への運動のためシーリング部材および/または導管へのアクセスを許容するように構成されている請求項76ないし84のいずれかの流体流回路アセンブリ。
- 加熱エレメントは金属層を含み、その一部は中空導管の内側へ露出され、かつ抗微生物性を発揮する請求項76ないし78のいずれかの流体流回路アセンブリ。

- 内腔とポリマー端材料で終わっている少なくとも一つの開放端を含んでいる流体導管と;導管の開放端をシールするシーリング部材とを含み;該シーリング部材はエネルギー供給時ポリマー端材料を溶融するように構成されており;そして該シーリング部材と導管の開放端とは加熱時溶融したポリマー端材料を露出する非シーリング位置へ相対的に動くことができるタイプの二つの流体流回路を接合するための接続装置であって;
各自流体流回路の一つの一部分を保持するように構成された対向する導管ホルダーであって、該ホルダーは開放端を一般に軸方向整列に保持するように相対的に配置され、そしてシーリング部材を互いに向かって動かし、それらを相互に接触させるように相対的に可動である対向する導管ホルダー;
加熱部材の少なくとも一つを十分に加熱し、それぞれの流体回路のポリマー端材料を溶融するためのパワー源;および
シーリング部材を保持するように構成されたシーリング部材ホルダーとを備え;
シーリング部材ホルダーと導管ホルダーとは、ポリマー端材料が溶融した時シーリング部材を開放端の間から動かすためのそれぞれ横方向に可動である接続装置。 - 導管ホルダーは、シーリング部材が開放端間から動かされる時溶融した開放端を一体に加圧するように構成されている請求項98の接続装置。
- パワー源は電気誘導電流発生器である請求項98または99の接続装置。
- パワー源は電圧源である請求項98または99の接続装置。
- チューブホルダーは導管を横方向に固定された位置に保持し、シーリング部材ホルダーはシーリング部材を開放端の間から横方向に引っ張るように動くことができる請求項98ないし101のいずれかの接続装置。
- シーリング部材は選択された厚みを有する導電性材料のフィルムを含み、そしてパワー源は選択された周波数において作動される発電機であり、ここでフィルムの厚みはそのような材料のそのような周波数におけるスキン深さより実質的に大きくない厚みを有する請求項98ないし102のいずれかの接続装置。
- 各自内腔およびポリマー材料で終わっている開放端と、そして流体導管へ取り付けられ、その開放端をシールするシーリング部材を有する第1および第2の流体流導管を接合する方法であって、該シーリング部材は少なくとも一つの加熱エレメントを含み、該方法は、
(a)シーリング部材を面対面接触に配置し;
(b)各シーリング部材の少なくとも一つの加熱エレメントを加熱することによって開放端のポリマー材料を溶融し;
(c)その間の流体流を許容する流体流導管の間の接合を形成するため溶融している間に露出した開放端を合体するように導管の開放端を互いに向かって加圧しながらそれぞれの導管の開放端の間からシーリング部材を動かす;
ことを含む方法。 - シーリング部材の各自はそれぞれの導管の開いたポリマー端へ取り付けたパネルを含み、そして各シーリング部材はポリマー層と少なくとも一つの加熱エレメントを形成する金属層を含み、それぞれの導管の開いたポリマー端はポリマー層をシールして取り付けられており、方法は、
導管のポリマー端を一般に軸方向にそしてそれぞれのパネルを面対面接触に配置し;
各導管の開放端のポリマー材料を溶融するように金属層を十分に加熱し;
ポリマーが溶融している間に開放端を露出させるように、そしてパネルが開放端から動かされる時露出した開放端を実質的に同時に合体するため導管へ軸方向の圧縮力を加えながらパネルをポリマー端から横方向に動かし;そして
その間に流体流を許容する流体導管間の接合を形成するため軸方向の圧縮力を維持しながら溶融した端を冷却する;
ことを含み請求項104の方法。 - 導管は加熱の間一般に横方向に静止して固定され、そしてシーリング部材はその間から横に動かされる請求項104または105の方法。
- 加熱エレメントは選択された周波数において作動する誘導電源によって加熱され、そして加熱エレメントはそのような周波数においてそのような金属のスキン深さより実質的に大きくない厚みを有する請求項104ないし106のいずれかの方法。
- 導管は事前に滅菌され、そして溶融した端は導管の無菌性を維持しながら接合される請求項104ないし107のいずれかの方法。
- シーリング部材は抗微生物性を発揮する材料を含んでいる請求項104ないし108の方法。
- 抗微生物性は周囲の条件に比較して微生物負荷の少なくとも約3対数減少を含んでいる請求項109の方法。
- 加熱エレメントはシーリング部材を開放端に関し相対的に動かす前にシーリング部材を少なくとも滅菌温度へシーリング部材を滅菌するのに十分な時間加熱する請求項104ないし110のいずれかの方法。
- ポリマー材料は約230℃またはそれ以上の溶融温度を有する請求項104ないし111のいずれかの方法。
- シーリング部材の少なくとも一つはポリマー層と加熱エレメントを形成する金属層を含んでいる多層パネルを含んでいる請求項104ないし112のいずれかの方法。
- シーリング部材の少なくとも一つは二つのポリマー層と、ポリマー層の間に位置する加熱エレメントを形成する金属層を含んでいる多層パネルを含んでいる請求項104ないし113のいずれかの方法。
- シーリング部材の少なくとも一つはポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)の層と、ポリプロピレン(PP)の層と、PPとPETの層の間に位置する加熱エレメントを形成するアルミニウム層を含む多層パネルを含んでいる請求項104ないし114のいずれかの方法。
- 各シーリング部材は約0.5mmより小さい厚みを有する請求項104ないし115のいずれかの方法。
- 各シーリング部材は約0.2mmより小さい厚みを有する請求項104ないし116のいずれかの方法。
