Abstract
【解決手段】液晶表示装置は、相対向する第1の基板及び第2の基板と、前記第1の基板の上に配設される一対の電界生成電極と、前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板との間に挟持され、正の誘電率異方性を有する液晶分子を含む液晶層と、前記一対の電界生成電極の上に配設される配向膜と、を備え、前記配向膜は、主鎖と、前記主鎖に連結されている1以上の側鎖と、を有し、前記側鎖は垂直官能基又は極性基を含む。

を備え、前記配向膜の上部の第1の比抵抗は、前記配向膜の下部の第2の比抵抗よりも10倍以上大きい。
また、液晶分子31の誘電率εLCは約7〜25であってもよく、液晶分子31の比抵抗ρLCは約1×10−12Ωcmよりも大きくてもよい。配向膜11、21の誘電率εALは約3.5〜4.5であってもよく、配向膜11、21の比抵抗ρALは約1×10−13Ωcmよりも大きくてもよい。なお、配向膜11、21の比抵抗ρALは約5×10−11Ωcmよりも小さくてもよい。

Claims (8)
- 相対向する第1の基板及び第2の基板と、
前記第1の基板の上に配設される一対の電界生成電極と、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板との間に挟持され、正の誘電率異方性を有する液晶分子を含む液晶層と、
前記第1の基板と前記第2の基板との間に挟持される少なくとも一つの配向膜と、
を備え、
前記配向膜の上部の第1の比抵抗は、前記配向膜の下部の第2の比抵抗よりも10倍以上大きい、液晶表示装置。 - 前記配向膜は、主鎖と、前記主鎖に連結されている1以上の側鎖と、を有し、前記側鎖は、垂直官能基又は極性基を含む、請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向膜の上部は、前記垂直官能基30〜35重量%及び前記極性基0〜70重量%を含む、請求項1〜2のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向膜の上部は、前記極性基を含まない、請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向膜の下部は、前記極性基70〜80重量%及び前記垂直官能基20〜30重量%を含む、請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向膜の下部は、前記垂直官能基の含量が、前記配向膜の上部よりも5〜10重量%少ない、請求項5に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記配向膜の上部と前記配向膜の下部との厚さ比は、1:9〜1:1である、請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶分子の誘電率及び比抵抗の積と、配向膜の誘電率及び比抵抗の積との差分が最小化されている、請求項1〜7のいずれかに記載の液晶表示装置。
